Mirai no Mirai is one of those films that I started watching without any kind of expectation, in fact a few minutes after it started I might have had doubts and felt like taking it off but no, I decided to have that thing they call willpower and I kept watching it. At the beginning it was complicated but as the plot progressed you get attached to the characters and at the same time the plot takes an unexpected turn that undoubtedly put the film on a slightly more interesting level. It is a film that talks about family relationships and how as a child we deal with them. It's good because you know what happens to little Kun, what he does to understand and overcome everything is the cool thing about the movie.

Mirai no Mirai es uno de esos films que comencé a ver sin ningún tipo de expectativa, de hecho a los pocos minutos de haber comenzado puede que la duda haya aparecido y me hayan dado ganas de quitarla pero no, decidí tener eso que llaman fuerza de voluntad y seguí viéndola. Al principio fue complicado pero conforme la trama fue avanzando le vas a agarrando cariño a los personajes al mismo tiempo que la trama agarra un giro inesperado que sin dudas puso a la película en un nivel un poco más interesante. Es un film que nos habla de las relaciones familiares y de cómo siendo un niño las afrontamos. Está buena porque se sabe que le pasa al pequeño Kun, lo que hace para entender y superar todo es lo cool de la película.

As I told you this is about Kun and his family. Everything in his life was in order and happiness until his younger sister, Mirai, was born. With her arrival the older brother feels displaced and forgotten, he is no longer taken into account as before which generates some resentment and resentment in his mind. He is a child, it is normal to have these behaviors, I would say it is more normal than we think. The detail is in what happens throughout the plot so that he understands all the situations he goes through and his perspective on things changes radically.

Como les dije esto se trata de Kun y su familia. Todo en la vida de él estaba en orden y era felicidad hasta que nace su hermana menor, Mirai. Con su llegada el hermano mayor se siente desplazado y olvidado, ya no lo toman en cuenta como antes lo que va generando cierto rencor y resentimiento en su mente. Es un niño, es normal que tenga estos comportamientos, yo diría que es más normal de lo que pensamos. El detalle está en lo que sucede a lo largo de la trama para que él entienda todas las situaciones por la que pasa y su perspectiva de las cosas cambie radicalmente.

It turns out that in the middle of his house there is a kind of magic garden that allows him to travel to any moment in time, both in the past and in the future. This allows little Kun to meet members of his family from other times: he meets his great-grandfather, his mother as a child, himself as an adult and, of course, his sister as a teenager. Each and every one of the trips he will make will represent an important learning experience to understand and assimilate what is happening to him in the present. At home in the day to day he throws a tantrum for whatever, when he ends up in the garden it takes him to a certain moment to change his perspective on things and make him see that what he is doing is wrong.

Resulta que en el medio de su casa hay una especie de jardín mágico que le permite viajar a cualquier momento del tiempo tanto en el pasado como en el futuro. Esto le permite al pequeño Kun encontrarse con miembros de su familia de otras épocas: conoce a su bisabuelo, a su mamá de niña, a él mismo de mayor y lógicamente a su hermana ya siendo una adolescente. Todos y cada uno de los viajes que él hará representarán un aprendizaje importante para entender y asimilar lo que le está pasando en el presente. En su casa en el día a día él arma una rabieta por lo que sea, cuando termina en el jardín este lo lleva a un momento determinado para cambiarle la perspectiva de las cosas y hacerle ver que lo que hace está mal.

Honestly I was very surprised by the film, I didn't bet anything on it but when you finish watching it you are like “it wasn't so bad after all” and yes, the film changes a lot when we start to see these strange things that happen in the garden. I would say it's an adventure but it does have everyday things at the family level that are very common. Dealing with a new baby, the expectations you have, the great work that moms do, how important and vital it is to have a good relationship and above all communication with the children and always make the exercise of empathy with all members of the family.

Honestamente me sorprendió mucho la película, no apostaba nada por ella pero cuando terminas de verla quedas como "no estuvo tan mal después de todo" y es que si, el film cambia mucho cuando empezamos a ver estas cosas extrañas que suceden en el jardín. Diría que es una aventura pero si tiene cosas de la cotidianidad a nivel familiar que son muy comunes. Lidiar con un nuevo bebé, las expectativas que se tiene, el gran trabajo que hacen las mamás, lo importante y vital que es tener una buena relación y sobretodo comunicación con los hijos y siempre hacer el ejercicio de empatía con todos los miembros de la familia.

The journeys are increasingly immersive because they explain a feature of Kun's personality or why his parents act the way they do today. It may seem a bit childish but deep down it is not, it has more background than it could show, it is a film that has several layers and it is our job to go discovering one by one to understand its depth. In the end Kun is a simple boy who sometimes shows flashes of maturity thanks to what he gets to live. As for its animation, it was made by Studio Chizu, the same people who made Bakemono no Ko, another great film by Mamoru Hosoda. It is very good, within the simplicity there is a lot of work, details, fluid animation and certain things in 3D that surprise and yes, the resemblance to Bakemono No is undeniable.

Los viajes son cada vez más inmersivos porque explican una rasgo de la personalidad de Kun o el por qué sus papás actúan de la forma en la que lo hacen en la actualidad. Puede parecer un poco infantil pero en el fondo no lo es, tiene más trasfondo de lo que pudiera mostrar, es una película que tiene varias capas y es trabajo de nosotros ir descubriendo una a una para entender su profundidad. Al final Kun es un simple niño que a veces demuestra destellos de madurez gracias a lo que llega a vivir. En cuanto a su animación estuvo a cargo de Studio Chizu, los mismos que hicieron Bakemono no Ko, otra gran película de Mamoru Hosoda. Es muy buena, dentro de la simpleza hay mucho trabajo, detalles, animación fluida y ciertas cosas en 3D que sorprenden y si, el parecido con Bakemono No es innegable.

A very good and fresh film, if you have children or siblings you can empathize and feel identified. It lasts an hour and a half where we will see a little bit of everything, a lot of reality but also a dose of fantasy and adventure. I leave the trailer here.

Una película muy buena y fresca, si tienes hijos o hermanos puede llegar a empatizar bastante y sentirte identificado. Dura hora y media en donde veremos de todo un poco, mucha realidad pero también unas dosis de fantasía y aventura. Les dejo el tráiler por acá.

Yo esta película le hice una reseña el año pasado, me gustó bastante cómo intenta abordar el tema de la llegada de un nuevo miembro a la familia desde un punto de vista infantil, para que les llegue el mensaje a aquellos niños que quizás puedan sentirse identificados. Sin dudas, mi historia favorita fue la del bisabuelo y su motocicleta, luego lo de la carrera para poder confesarse, simplemente magnífico.

Esa interacción con el bisabuelo es muy cool. En lo personal me gustó la parte del tren cuando él por fin reconoce a su hermana, tanto que la negaba cuando se vio que estaba en peligro sacó sus verdaderos sentimientos. Estás situaciones son super comunes y la forma en como la abordan es ideal para empatizar un poco con todas las partes.

Stories like this always have a solid construction of the message. I like that the theme of time travel ends up bringing something solid and strong to the viewers. Human experiences always contribute.

I believe that the essence of everything is in learning from the past and living in the present. When we understand that, we become mature.

Just like what you say is what Kun is experiencing. To understand where he comes from so that it changes his perspective on things and improve in the present. And all as a child, that's the real merit.

It is very worthwhile. It touches on everyday issues that we don't always see but above all the way they develop it is what is really cool.

I always see the time, a two hour movie is hard for me to watch.
