Ryan Gosling se está convirtiendo, si es que ya no lo era, en la cara de la industria del cine y es que no se si hay un actor en la actualidad que esté logrando lo que él está haciendo, quizás Glenn Powell pero no más. A lo que me refiero es a hacer películas cada cierto tiempo y que sin importar que siempre termine en la conversación de que si estos film tienen éxito sólo porque está él o porque son realmente buenos. The Fall Guy en Rotten Tomatoes tiene más del 80% de aprobación tanto de los críticos como de la audiencia solo que en esta oportunidad si hay que decir que por lo menos para mi la película es bastante buena y decente, de hecho me esperaba algo mucho peor.

Ryan Gosling is becoming, if he wasn't already, the face of the film industry and I don't know if there is an actor today who is achieving what he is doing, maybe Glenn Powell but no more. What I'm talking about is making movies every so often and no matter what it always ends up in the conversation of whether these films are successful just because he's in them or because they're really good. The Fall Guy on Rotten Tomatoes has more than 80% approval from both critics and audiences, but this time I have to say that at least for me the movie is pretty good and decent, in fact I was expecting something much worse.

Acá tenemos a Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) quien es un doble de riesgo, estos tipos que reciben los golpes, son lanzados contra paredes, prendidos en llamas, se vuelcan en los carros, etc, en nombre del actor estrella de la película. Resulta que haciendo una de las escenas Colt sufre un accidente que casi termina con su vida por lo que decide alejarse de todo tanto para poder sanar adecuadamente com también por un tema de salud mental. La verdad es que él era o es el mejor en esto de hacer escenas de acción por lo que pronto la oportunidad de resarcirse le llegaría aunque Seavers todavía no esté muy convencido de eso.

Here we have Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) who is a stunt double, these guys who take the hits, are thrown against walls, set on fire, get thrown into cars, etc, on behalf of the star of the movie. It turns out that in one of the scenes Colt suffers an accident that almost ends his life so he decides to get away from everything both to be able to heal properly and also for a mental health issue. The truth is that he was or is the best at doing action scenes so soon the opportunity to make amends would come to him although Seavers is still not very convinced of that.

El actor al cual él le hace el doblaje es la superestrella del momento Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). El detalle es que este tipo está desaparecido por lo que una de las razones del porque llamaron a Colt, además de ser la cara mientra él no está, es encontrarlo y traerlo de vuelta. En paralelo nuestro doble tenía una especie de relación con Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt) quien ahora es la directora de la película que se está grabando por lo que también deberá de ganarse su confianza por haberse ido aquella vez. Al final todo esto no es más que una conspiración que termina siendo una trama criminal en donde Colt deberá sortear su vida pero con el peligro real de morir.

The detail is that this guy is missing so one of the reasons why they called Colt, besides being the face while he is gone, is to find him and bring him back. In parallel our double had a kind of relationship with Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt) who is now the director of the movie that is being filmed so he must also gain her trust for having left that time. In the end all this is nothing more than a conspiracy that ends up being a criminal plot where Colt will have to get through his life but with the real danger of dying.

La trama de esta película es increíblemente básica en el sentido de que no te vas a encontrar ninguna sorpresa por ahí, si hay un par de plot twist interesantes pero que no afectan el hilo conductor de la misma. Para mi es plana porque es esa historia que sabes perfectamente cómo va a terminar, quienes son los involucrados y lo que harán para que nada se sepa; cero misterio. A pesar de eso no aburre, sinceramente no te vas a cansar de verla porque es sumamente entretenida, es de esos films "cotuferos" que están hechos para que los veas sin problemas y sin pensar mucho en lo que estás viendo. Y es por eso que la ha ido tan bien, esa fórmula simple funciona, de darle al espectador acción y comedia en buenas dosis.

The plot of this movie is incredibly basic in the sense that you're not going to find any surprises out there, yes there are a couple of interesting plot twists but they don't affect the main thread of the movie. For me it's flat because it's that story that you know perfectly well how it's going to end, who the people involved are and what they'll do so nothing is known; zero mystery. In spite of that it doesn't bore, honestly you won't get tired of watching it because it's highly entertaining, it's one of those "cotuferos" films that are made for you to watch them without problems and without thinking much about what you're watching. And that's why it has done so well, that simple formula works, giving the viewer action and comedy in good doses.

Y es que es eso, esta película está llena de acción de principio a fin. Tenemos a un doble con sus habilidades adquiridas enfrentarse a un grupo de matones en varios escenarios, persecuciones en calles, por agua, intercambios de disparos, buenas secuencias de peleas; que a ver, sorprendentemente está muy cool de ver. Si a todo eso le sumamos la comedia, una que hace reir con ciertos comentarios e interacciones y que a su vez tiene tintes de comedia romántica porque está la relación de Colt con Judy que tiene que resolverse pues terminamos con una combinación que es muy difícil de que salga mal aunque casi siempre las posibilidades sean altas. Es la típica película para todos los gustos, si no la ves por algo pues te agarras de otra cosa y listo.

And that's just it, this movie is action-packed from start to finish. We have a stuntman with his acquired skills taking on a group of thugs in various scenarios, street chases, water chases, exchanges of gunfire, good fight sequences; which is surprisingly cool to watch. If we add to all that the comedy, one that makes you laugh with certain comments and interactions and that in turn has hints of romantic comedy because there is Colt's relationship with Judy that has to be resolved, we end up with a combination that is very difficult to go wrong although the chances are almost always high. It is the typical movie for all tastes, if you don't see it for something then you grab something else and that's it.

Los personajes están bien. Ryan es buen actor, es muy multifacético, tiene carisma y además se le da muy bien las escenas de acción. Con Emily Blunt hay mucha química y que también ella es una actriz que da garantías. Esperaba más de Aaron Taylor pero creo que por su personaje no pudimos ver mucho más, mitad de la película estuvo ausente y en la otra trató de ser un villano que no convence mucho por aquello del aura de comedia que rodea todo. Fue un buen cast, no le quito ni le pongo nada, bastante aceptable y decente.

The characters are good. Ryan is a good actor, he is very multifaceted, has charisma and is also very good in action scenes. With Emily Blunt there is a lot of chemistry and she is also an actress that gives guarantees. I expected more from Aaron Taylor but I think we could not see much more of his character, half of the film he was absent and in the other half he tried to be a villain who does not convince much because of the aura of comedy that surrounds everything. It was a good cast, I don't take anything away or put anything on it, quite acceptable and decent.

Buena película para pasar el rato. Le doy un 7.5/10. Acción, comedia, escenas muy bien logradas y una trama sencilla pero efectiva. Les dejo el tráiler para que le echen un ojo.

I watched this movie just because Ryan was in it although I didn't finish it, what I enjoyed about the half I watched was the humor. Not really the action. I think I'll go back and watch till the end.

The action is the best thing about it, the comedy is also good but I think the scenes are decent. I think you should give it one more chance.
