Nostalgia for the good old days of the past works perfectly for the vast majority of the entertainment industry. That's why we love to watch special programmes, series or documentaries about a production that was special to us, according to our tastes.
Getting Lost is a recently released documentary that recaptures the cast of the television phenomenon that impacted viewers at the time, creating a legion of fans of the series who theorised and enjoyed every episode on a weekly basis. For six seasons we loved and hated many of the characters in this series that undoubtedly marked a before and after in the so-called golden age of television.
A few years ago I wrote a post giving my opinion on the Lost phenomenon. To understand everything that the series generated, we have to remember that it came about at a time when the internet was becoming massively popular. Social networks were also beginning to take off. Forums centred on the series were very active. All this had a great influence on the success of the series. Nothing better than a story with great mysteries. Questions that seemed to have no logical answers and shocking cliffhangers in every episode.
All this is explained very well in the documentary. The cast and crew are aware that they went on air at the right time. Many factors came together and that's why they went down in television history worldwide.
La nostalgia por los buenos tiempos del pasado funciona a la perfección para la gran mayoría de la industria del entretenimiento. Por eso nos encanta ver programas especiales, series o documentales sobre una producción que fue especial para nosotros, según nuestros gustos.
Getting Lost es un documental de reciente estreno que recupera al elenco del fenómeno televisivo que impactó a los espectadores de la época, creando una legión de fans de la serie que se deshacían en teorías y disfrutaban semanalmente de cada episodio. Durante seis temporadas amamos y odiamos a muchos de los personajes de esta serie que sin duda marcó un antes y un después en la llamada edad de oro de la televisión.
Hace unos años escribí un post dando mi opinión sobre el fenómeno Lost. Para entender todo lo que generó la serie hay que recordar que surgió en un momento en el que internet se estaba masificando. Las redes sociales también empezaban a despegar. Los foros centrados en esta serie eran muy activos. Todo esto influyó mucho en el éxito de la serie. Nada mejor que una historia con grandes misterios. Preguntas que parecían no tener respuestas lógicas y cliffhangers impactantes en cada episodio.
Todo esto se explica muy bien en el documental. El reparto y el equipo son conscientes de que salieron al aire en el momento adecuado. Se juntaron muchos factores y por eso pasaron a la historia de la television a nivel mundial.
The documentary also makes it quite clear that the creators improvised a lot. In the end it was a joke what they always claimed they had planned all along. Maybe they did know what they wanted the ending to look like, but the whole journey was full of unexpected stops. It was understandable. They had a brilliant idea and they had to make it happen quickly. They even thought the series would not be approved and the pilot, which cost a fortune for its time, became the most expensive pilot episode in the history of American television. Sometimes big hits come out that way. Other series may have been highly planned and applied a formula for success and turned out to be huge failures. Lost was rushed and ended up achieving unimaginable success.
I really enjoyed the documentary. Seeing most of the cast today. They are not so young anymore. Some are still going on with their careers, with greater and lesser success. It's amazing how such a large cast, filled at the time with faces unknown to most people. There were some acting veterans, but they weren't world-famous stars either. Lost changed their lives, propelling the careers of most of them. Some of them found the fame hard to assimilate and none of them will ever be able to completely let go of the character they played. In the collective memory they will always be remembered for Lost.
El documental también deja bastante claro que los creadores improvisaron mucho. Al final fue una tomadura de pelo lo que siempre afirmaron que tenían todo planeado. Quizá sí sabían cómo querían que fuera el final, pero todo el viaje estuvo lleno de paradas inesperadas. Era comprensible. Tenían una idea brillante y tenían que hacerla realidad rápidamente. Incluso pensaron que la serie no sería aprobada y el piloto, que costó una fortuna para su época, se convirtió en el episodio piloto más caro de la historia de la televisión estadounidense. A veces los grandes éxitos salen así. Otras series pueden haber sido muy planificadas y haber aplicado una fórmula para el éxito y haber resultado en tremendos fracasos. Perdidos se hizo de forma precipitada y acabó alcanzando un éxito inimaginable.
Me gustó mucho el documental. Ver a la mayoría del reparto hoy en día. Ya no son tan jóvenes. Algunos siguen con sus carreras, con mayor y menor éxito. Es increíble cómo un reparto tan grande, lleno en su momento de caras desconocidas para la mayoría de la gente. Había algunos veteranos de la interpretación, pero tampoco eran estrellas de fama mundial. Perdidos cambió sus vidas, impulsando las carreras de la mayoría de ellos. A algunos les costó asimilar la fama y ninguno de ellos podrá desprenderse por completo del personaje que interpretaron. En la memoria colectiva siempre serán recordados por Lost.
One of the parts of the documentary that I found very moving and I liked that they put it in the montage. It's a small tribute to all those geeks who started following Lost. People who were fans of the series, who were also affected by it. Creators of internet forums. Podcast. Collectors. The series was not only a success for the creators, the technicians, the cast, the scriptwriters. The fans who created content are also part of that success. They were the ones who spread the word down to the smallest detail. Some of those geeks were quite successful. They met a lot of other people with the same tastes. They made relationships. They had very sad losses. A TV series also changed their lives and has a very interesting segment in the documentary.
The ugly side of the series also has a place. Not everything was rosy, especially because of a kind of toxic atmosphere in the writers' room. Racism. Sexism. There's a book that explores all that. As in any job, there are bad atmospheres.
The controversial ending. This topic is the subject of much discussion. The cast and crew give their opinion on it. Several of their responses are interesting. This type of series tends to be divisive with its ending. Viewer expectations are sometimes too high. I think you have to enjoy the journey and the good moments, like in Game of Thrones. Whether we like the ending of a series or not, what matters are the incredible moments we enjoy watching it.
I recommend this documentary, for those who keep Lost as one of their favourite series.

Una de las partes del documental que me pareció muy emotiva y me gustó que la pusieran en el montaje. Es un pequeño homenaje a todos esos frikis que empezaron a seguir Lost. Gente que era fan de la serie, que también se vio afectada por ella. Creadores de foros de internet. Podcast. Coleccionistas. La serie no solo fue un éxito de los creadores, los técnicos, el reparto, los guionistas. Los fans que crearon contenidos también forman parte de ese éxito. Ellos fueron los que difundieron hasta el más mínimo detalle. Algunos de esos frikis tuvieron bastante éxito. Conocieron a mucha otra gente con los mismos gustos. Hicieron relaciones. Tuvieron pérdidas muy tristes. Una serie de televisión también cambió sus vidas y tiene un segmento muy interesante en el documental.
El lado feo de la serie también tiene cabida. No todo fue de color de rosa, sobre todo por una especie de atmósfera tóxica en la sala de guionistas. Racismo. Sexismo. Hay un libro que explora todo eso. Como en todo trabajo, hay malos ambientes.
El polémico final. Este tema suscita muchas discusiones. El reparto y el equipo dan su opinión al respecto. Interesantes varias de sus respuestas. Este tipo de series tiende a generar divisiones con su final. Las expectativas del espectador son a veces demasiado altas. Creo que hay que disfrutar del viaje y de los buenos momentos, como en Juego de Tronos. Nos guste o no el final de una serie, lo que importa son los momentos increíbles que disfrutamos viéndola.
Recomiendo este documental, para los que mantienen Lost como una de sus series favoritas.

Me hiciste transportarme al pasado... recordar los momentos en que veía esta maravillosa serie. Me encantó la serie y el final para mi fue inesperado y por eso mismo creo que me gustó, logró sacarme de lo que esperaba y me mostró una cara distinta.
Viví cada capítulo y no me perdía ni uno... que tiempos aquellos. Ahora ver así a los protagonistas va a ser genial, me encanta la idea de este documental y de saber precisamente eso que causo en sus fans.

LOST es especial, de las mejores series que he visto y de la cual, su final no me hizo sentir odio o decepción, me pareció adecuada y lo único que pude sentir fue el vacío de que no había más nada que contar de esa historia.
Cuando tenga oportunidad veré ese documental, ya que puede ser perfecto para mí porque muchas veces tengo las ganas de volver a ver la serie, pero siempre la dejo para otro momento.
Otra cosa, LOST me hizo empezar a adrentarme en el mundo de las teorías en internet con respecto a series de TV; esos días también los extraño.
Buenos momentos. Lost fue grandiosa. En esa época también estaba enganchado a 24.Semanalmente esperando ver el episodio. Yo no tenia internet, pero en donde yo trabajaba había y yo dejaba el episodio de Lost descargando por Torrent y al día siguiente podía verla y así estar al día con la emisión del episodio en Estado Unidos para luego entrar a devorar los foros.
La página "Lostpedia" me hizo creer en un sin fin de teorías 😂
