Love Lies Bleeding | Film Review [En-Es]

I had seen many positive opinions of the second film by Rose Glass, who several years ago made her feature debut with the excellent Saint Maud, a work that seems to me to be better than this new film. The previous film was a horror proposition in which the pischological aspect of the protagonist was the most attractive aspect.
With the film Love Lies Bleeding, the filmmaker doesn't place much emphasis on the psychological development of the characters, she doesn't go into depth, she only gives some clues about the motivations of the acts and dedicates more time to the aesthetic aspect, which gives her results, it's a gimmicky resource but it fulfils the objective.
Glass continues to strike me as a good filmmaker and I hope it doesn't take her too long to come up with another project. As this one has been more successful in the media, it is likely that proposals will come in and open the doors to other films he wants to make.
Había visto muchas opiniones positivas de la segunda película de Rose Glass, que hace varios años debutó en el largometraje con la excelente Saint Maud, un trabajo que me parece mejor que esta nueva película. La anterior película era una propuesta de terror donde el aspecto piscológico de la protagonista era lo más atractivo.
Con la película Love Lies Bleeding, la cineasta no hace mucho hincapié en el desarrollo psicológico de los personajes, no profundiza, sólo da algunas pistas sobre las motivaciones de los actos y dedica más tiempo al aspecto estético, que le da resultados, es un recurso efectista pero cumple el objetivo.
Glass me sigue pareciendo una buena cineasta y espero que no tarde tanto en sacar otro proyecto. Como éste ha tenido más éxito en los medios, es probable que le lleguen propuestas y le abran las puertas a otras películas que quiera hacer.
The film is set in the 1980s. I don't know why it was set in that era. I think the director wanted to do something that would appeal to a mainstream audience and she knows that the nostalgia of that era works very well. Also, being set in the eighties, there are no mobile phones, internet, etc., which justifies some of the events in the plot.
Also the influence of different filmmakers on the story created by Rose Glassy is something I liked. Every creator is influenced by other creators, the important thing is to mould it and inject some of your own style into it. That's why I felt that her great interest was to make a product more to the taste of a wide audience. Although it has also been very well received by the specialised critics, the move has worked out very well.
The story wanders between crime, revenge and gay romance with scenes of violence and blood. I would have liked a little more of the latter. It does have violence, but not as much as some opinions have exaggerated it, I think these new generations are too easily surprised by the occasional blown head and splattered blood.
La película está ambientada en los años ochenta. No sé por qué se ambientó en esa época. Podrían haberla adaptado a la actualidad Creo que la directora quería hacer algo que atrajera a un público mayoritario y sabe que la nostalgia de esa época funciona muy bien. Además, al estar ambientada en los ochenta, no hay teléfonos móviles, internet, etc., lo que justifica algunos de los acontecimientos de la trama.
También la influencia de diferentes cineastas en la historia creada por Rose Glassy es algo que me ha gustado. Todo creador está influenciado por otros creadores, lo importante es amoldarlo e inyectarle algo de tu propio estilo. Por eso sentí que su gran interés era hacer un producto más del gusto del público amplio. Aunque también ha sido muy bien recibida por la crítica especializada, la jugada le ha salido muy bien.
La historia deambula entre el crimen, la venganza y el romance gay con escenas de violencia y sangre. Me hubiera gustado un poco más de esto último. Sí tiene violencia, pero no tanta como algunas opiniones la han exagerado, creo que estas nuevas generaciones se sorprenden demasiado fácilmente con alguna cabeza reventada y sangre salpicada.
Kristen Steward is the highlight of the cast. I liked her character of Lou, a gay girl who is in charge of a gym and doesn't get along very well with her father. This other character is played by the great Ed Harris sporting ridiculously long hair. Actress Katy M O¨brian plays Jackie, the girl who aspires to win a bodybuilding contest in Las Vegas and begins an affair with Lou, while at the same time getting involved in family problems with very tragic consequences. I have seen little of this actress's previous work, as she has focused a lot on superhero productions. She has a good physique that suits the role she plays. She and Steward manage to connect and convey chemistry.
The misleading point, in my view, like many of today's productions, is the dose woke. I love films with female characters who fight, kill and execute revenge, but I don't see the need to paint all the male characters as dumb and very bad. Here all the men are evil and abusive. Lou's partner is the stereotypical super-bad guy. JJ, played by Dave Franco, is a whoremonger, wife-beater and physically unpleasant. Even some of the extra characters who attend the gym are abusers. And anyone who isn't evil is an idiot. In general, all the female characters, including one called Daisy, who uses the chat room to get what she wants, end up justifying their behaviour, either because of the injustices they have suffered or because they end up in a very bad way.
Love Lies Bleeding is an enjoyable and very feminist story, which, paradoxically, will appeal more to male audiences.

Kristen Steward es la más destacada del reparto. Me gustó su personaje de Lou, una chica gay que está a cargo de un gimnasio y no se lleva muy bien con su padre. Este otro personaje está interpretado por el gran Ed Harris luciendo un pelo ridículamente largo. La actriz Katy M O¨brian interpreta a Jackie, la chica que aspira a ganar un concurso de culturismo en Las Vegas y que inicia un romance con Lou, al mismo tiempo que se ve envuelta en problemas familiares de consecuencias muy trágicas. He visto poco de los trabajos anteriores de esta actriz, ya que se ha centrado mucho en producciones de superhéroes. Tiene un buen físico que se adapta al papel que interpreta. Ella y Steward consiguen conectar y transmitir química.
El punto engativo, desde mi punto de vista, como muchas de las producciones de hoy en día, la dosis woke. Me encantan las películas con personajes femeninos que luchan, matan y ejecutan venganzas, pero no veo la necesidad de pintar a todos los personajes masculinos como tontos y muy malos. Aquí todos los hombres son malos y maltratadores. El compañero de Lou es el estereotipo de tipo supermalo. JJ, interpretado por Dave Franco, es un putero, maltratador de mujeres y físicamente desagradable. Incluso algunos de los personajes extra que asisten al gimnasio, son abusadores. Y cualquiera que no sea malo es un idiota. En general, todos los personajes femeninos, incluida una llamada Daisy, que utiliza el chat para conseguir lo que quiere, acaban justificando su comportamiento, ya sea por las injusticias que han sufrido o porque acaban muy mal.
Love Lies Bleeding es una historia agradable y muy feminista, que paradójicamente, gustará más al público masculino.

Cuando llegué al final de la reseña me dije... lo dijo, noté que era bastante feminista, está muy claro, sobre todo si pone a los hombres como unos tontos. En realidad en la vida hay tontos de todo tipo jajaja
Kristen Steward me encanta, vi otras películas de ella hace muchos años y ya en esa época note que era buena actriz. Es un buen reparto... pero querías más sangre? Hoy la gente no soporta mucho o se escandaliza por ver sangre o violencia, pero la vida real es mucho peor!
