I'm catching up on pending series and continuing with the Taylor Sheridan productions. The wait for Yellowstone and 1923 will be longer, so I've watched the first two seasons of Major of Kingstown, which has also had ratings success.
Major of Kingstown was created by Sheridan with Hugh Dillon, a friend of his from the days when they were in the acting business. Dillon is a recurring actor in Sheridan's productions, we've seen him in Yellowstone and I remember him in a key role at the end of the film Wind River, which I have to see again to review.
Dillon is often seen in tough guy movies. Whether they are cops or criminals. They are the kind of characters that fit his physicality. There are actors who are very convincing in those types of roles. In addition to co-creating the series, he plays Ian, a corrupt cop.
The series is set in a fictional town in Michigan. That town Kingstown in the series does not exist, but it is inspired by a Canadian town where there were more than seven prisons and Dillon's place of origin.

La serie está ambientada en un pueblo ficticio de Michigan. Ese pueblo Kingstown de la serie no existe, pero está inspirado en una ciudad canadiense donde hubo más de siete cárceles y lugar de origen de Dillon.
Testosterone everywhere. A very masculine series. Tough, violent men. The most important characters are all men. The female characters are not like in other Sheridan series. This has generated some criticism from feminists, but we already know that these people criticize everything. For me it is coherent that it is a series with rough, corrupt, despicable male characters. It is a criminal world dominated by men and the niche of the series are male viewers who like criminal intrigues, action and violence.
The first season is the most intense so far. Season three is currently airing, but I will wait until all the episodes are available. The first season establishes the pillars as we discover this world, achieves the element of surprise, even handling clichés of this type of genre. The last two episodes of the first season are excellent. A violent season finale. The second batch of episodes maintains the intensity but there is no longer an element of surprise and it is noticeable that it is becoming more and more comfortable to offer what the viewer is looking for.
Some time ago I read an interview in which the creators said they planned to do seven seasons. I think this is a bit of an exaggeration and may lead to burnout. Although Sheridan is very good at telling stories and stretching them out, there's Yellowstone as an example. Greater Kingstown demands that we accept a lot of situations that are left up in the air.

Para mí es coherente que sea una serie con personajes masculinos rudos, corruptos, despreciables. Es un mundo criminal dominado por hombres y el nicho de la serie son los espectadores masculinos a los que les gustan las intrigas criminales, la acción y la violencia.
La primera temporada es la más intensa hasta el momento. Actualmente se está emitiendo la tercera temporada, pero esperaré a que estén disponibles todos los episodios. La primera temporada establece los pilares a medida que vamos descubriendo este mundo, consigue el elemento sorpresa, incluso manejando tópicos de este tipo de género. Los dos últimos episodios de la primera temporada son excelentes. Un final de temporada violento. La segunda tanda de episodios mantiene la intensidad pero ya no hay elemento sorpresa y se nota que cada vez es más cómoda para ofrecer lo que el espectador busca.
Hace algún tiempo leí una entrevista en la que los creadores decían que planeaban hacer siete temporadas. Creo que esto es un poco exagerado y puede provocar agotamiento. Aunque Sheridan es muy bueno contando historias y alargándolas, ahí está Yellowstone como ejemplo. Mayor de Kingstown exige que aceptemos muchas situaciones que quedan en el aire.
The series is about the MCLuskly brothers. Mitch, Mike and Kyle. Mitch continues with his father's business, but due to a tragic event in the first episode, Mike takes over the job. They call him the mayor of Kingstown, because he is in charge of negotiating between the gangs and law enforcement, so that everything goes smoothly inside the prisons. He's kind of a problem solver, a negotiator. He's both with the police and with the criminals. He seems to have more power than the others. He has contact with politicians, prosecutors, police, guards, criminals. With everyone.
What I have a hard time understanding is Mike's motivations for doing that. He's an ex-con. He kills when he has to kill. He's always walking a tightrope, living under stress, under tension and jumping from one problem to another. Just to keep the peace in that city where both law enforcement and criminals live wrong and want to go to war with each other. Mike spends all his time trying to avoid a bloodbath. Now, it's a job that doesn't seem to bring him much wealth, the office is a dump, he's not a millionaire nor does he have any luxuries. Maybe in the following seasons we will learn more about his motivations. Even the mother's character tells him that she doesn't understand what he is doing in this town if he seemed to hate that place since he was a child.
Many of his characters make very foolish decisions. They are even contradictory. For example, everything that happens with the character of Iris. The prostitute who works for Milo. I don't see any sense in her. She is a great asset. She's been with a lot of important people in New York. Even the head of the FBI. So dumping her, putting her through hell, hurting her, doesn't make any sense. Any crime boss would have her well protected. I don't see coherence to everything that happens, let alone other decisions she makes. But if you are willing to forgive these details, you will like the series a lot.

La serie trata de los hermanos MCLuskly. Mitch, Mike y Kyle. Mitch continúa con el negocio de su padre, pero debido a un trágico suceso en el primer episodio, Mike se hace cargo del trabajo. Le llaman el alcalde de Kingstown, porque se encarga de negociar entre las bandas y las fuerzas del orden, para que todo vaya bien dentro de las cárceles. Es una especie de solucionador de problemas, un negociador. Está tanto con la policía como con los delincuentes. Parece tener más poder que los demás. Tiene contacto con políticos, fiscales, policías, custodios, criminales. Con todo el mundo.
Lo que me cuesta entender son las motivaciones de Mike para hacer eso. Es un ex convicto. Mata cuando tiene que matar. Siempre está caminando por la cuerda floja, viviendo bajo estrés, bajo tensión y saltando de un problema a otro. Sólo para mantener la paz en esa ciudad en la que tanto las fuerzas del orden como los criminales viven equivocándose y queriendo entrar en guerra unos con otros. Mike se pasa todo el tiempo intentando evitar un baño de sangre. Ahora bien, es un trabajo que no parece reportarle mucha riqueza, la oficina es un basurero, no es millonario ni tiene lujos. Quizá en las siguientes temporadas sepamos más de sus motivaciones. Incluso el personaje de la madre le dice que no entiende qué hace en este pueblo si el parecía odiar ese lugar desde pequeño.
Muchos de sus personajes toman decisiones muy insensatas. Incluso son contradictorias. Por ejemplo, todo lo que ocurre con el personaje de Iris. La prostituta que trabaja para Milo. No le veo ningún sentido. Ella es un gran activo. Ha estado con muchas personas importantes en Nueva York. Incluso el jefe del FBI. Así que dejarla, hacerla pasar por un infierno, hacerle daño, no tiene ningún sentido. Cualquier jefe del crimen la tendría bien protegida. No le veo coherencia a todo lo que pasa y menos a otras decisiones que toma. Pero si estás dispuesto a perdonar estos detalles, la serie te gustará mucho.

Jeremy Renner es un actor del cual he visto varias películas en el pasado y me gusta bastante, un actor rudo y malo. Bueno me gusta este tipo de series o películas con esta trama. Las feministas si no les gusta que no las miren. A mi me encantan.
Policiales, corrupción, mucha acción y hasta violencia. Siempre me gustaron los policiales, siempre. cuanto más rudos mejor!
Espero realmente que no hagan siete temporadas, creo es mucho, aunque son fan de Black List y no me importa haya muchas temporadas, el actor principal es excelente, ser enigmático.

Tengo tiempo que no veo NADA de series, salvo The Boys y HOTD que las están dando ahorita. Sinceramente no había escuchado de esta pero leyendo esa trama tremendamente cliché jaja creo que vale la pena echarle un ojo, por lo general las historias así son las mejores series. Vamos a ver si comienzo.
Empecé a ver Outer Range, la segunda temporada, y la deje por falta de tiempo, así de abollado estoy 😂
La serie es entretenida, no buscar nada del otro mundo, hasta los momentos la primera temporada es la mejor. Crimen, violencia y una hermosa Emma Lard mostrando todo hace que valga la pena. 😆
La segunda temporada de Outer Range ha dejado muchas cosas en el aire y ya estan enredando demasiado. ¿será que ya le dieron luz verde a una tercera temporada? No cerraron nada, dejaron mas puertas abiertas. Ya deberían cerrarla.
