It is one of the films that was nominated for the Goya Awards and another of my favorites. Los Destellos connected with me, I entered into its story and it touched my sensibility. Where some may see or feel boredom, I saw beauty and feelings. It is a sad story, which will completely escape anyone looking for some entertainment. It is a very intimate story with a very contemplative camera.
In this day and age where everything is quickly consumed, I find this type of film that takes the time to expose its plot enjoyable. Without speeding up anything, little dead times captured by the camera, which have a sublime beauty. What it tells is something simple, but that is part of the human being, because we cannot stop the inevitable, from the first moment we inhale the air, we have an expiration date.
Pilar Palomero obtained great recognition with her first feature film five years ago. Las Niñas was a wonderful film in which she captured her cinematographic style. At that time it was hard for me to connect, but it was with her second feature, La Maternidad, which I wrote a post recommending, where the director managed to captivate me. I recommend both films, in case you want to see other productions of this filmmaker.
The screenplay is also by Pilar Palomero, based on a story by the Basque writer Eider Rodríguez. Of the four nominations to the Goya Awards, it left empty-handed. It has suffered the same fate at other awards. At the San Sebastian Festival, where it premiered and received critical acclaim, it won the award for best leading performance. The cast is reduced, but with formidable performers.
Es una de las películas que estuvo nominada a los Premios Goya y otra de mis favoritas. Los Destellos conectó conmigo, entré en su historia y tocó mi sensibilidad. Donde algunos pueden ver o sentir aburrimiento, yo vi belleza y sentimientos. Es una historia triste, que se le escapará por completo a quien busque algo de entretenimiento. Es una historia muy íntima con una cámara muy contemplativa.
En esta época en la que todo se consume rápidamente, me resulta agradable este tipo de películas que se toman el tiempo necesario para exponer su trama. Sin acelerar nada, pequeños tiempos muertos captados por la cámara, que tienen una belleza sublime. Lo que cuenta es algo simple, pero que forma parte del ser humano, porque no podemos parar lo inevitable, desde el primer momento que inhalamos el aire, tenemos fecha de caducidad.
Pilar Palomero obtuvo un gran reconocimiento con su primer largometraje hace cinco años. Las Niñas era una película maravillosa en la que plasmó su estilo cinematográfico. En aquel momento me costó conectar, pero fue con su segundo largometraje, La Maternidad, del que escribí un post recomendándolo, donde la directora consiguió cautivarme. Les recomiendo ambas películas, por si quieres ver otras producciones de esta cineasta.
El guión también es de Pilar Palomero, basado en un relato de la escritora vasca Eider Rodríguez. De las cuatro nominaciones a los Goya, se fue de vacío. En otros premios ha corrido la misma suerte. En el Festival de San Sebastián, donde se estrenó y recibió el aplauso de la crítica, fue galardonada con el premio a la mejor interpretación protagonista. El reparto es reducido, pero con intérpretes formidables.
Patricia López Arnaiz is the protagonist, she plays Isabel, a woman who is currently with her partner, but has a daughter who studies in Valencia, Madelen is the daughter's name. She often goes to the village to visit them, but also her father, who lives in the same village and is very ill. It has been many years since they separated, she already has her life with another man, but this illness will make her reflect on life, forgiveness and compassion towards others.
Ramón is the name of the character played by the famous Spanish actor Antonio de la Torre. Aged and fragile. Sadness and at the same time resingancion, that's what his character transmitted to me. There are several scenes that made me cringe, when they talk about death, which can happen at any time and a scene with a little dance. The performances are very natural, something that characterizes the filmmaker's style.
It is this naturalness in the dialogues, in the synteraccines and in the mise-en-scene that caught me. There is really no defined conflict. It simply shows something that many have surely experienced. The fragility of the human being in the face of an illness. The need for help. The pedonar the mistakes of the past. The affection that will always exist between two people who once loved each other and although time and mistakes destroyed everything, there is still empathy and solidarity. Maybe the fact that I had someone who gave me a lot of support when I always needed it, makes me like the story of this film so much.
Facing the loss and sadness present throughout the story does not make it a tear-jerking drama, not at all. On the contrary, its message is quite optimistic. We cannot change what is inevitable. Pain is also part of life, that's why we should always try to make the most of the good moments and not waste time on what is empty. Time with loved ones is the most important thing, that is where we will find the sparkles of life.

Patricia López Arnaiz es la protagonista, interpreta a Isabel, una mujer que actualmente está con su pareja, pero tiene una hija que estudia en Valencia, Madelen es el nombre de la hija. Ella va a menudo al pueblo a visitarlas, pero también a su padre, que vive en el mismo pueblo y está muy enfermo. Hace muchos años que se separaron, ella ya tiene su vida con otro hombre, pero esta enfermedad le hará reflexionar sobre la vida, el perdón y la compasión hacia los demás.
Ramón es el nombre del personaje interpretado por el famoso actor español Antonio de la Torre. Envejecido y frágil. Tristeza y a la vez resingancion, eso es lo que me transmitió su personaje. Hay varias escenas que me encogieron el corazón, cuando hablan de la muerte, que puede ocurrir en cualquier momento y una escena con un bailecito. Las interpretaciones tienen mucha naturalidad, algo que caracteriza el estilo del cineasta.
Es esta naturalidad en los diálogos, en las sinteraccines y en la puesta en escena, lo que me atrapó. En realidad no hay un conflicto definido. Simplemente se muestra algo que seguramente muchos han experimentado. La fragilidad del ser humano ante una enfermedad. La necesidad de ayuda. El pedonar los errores del pasado. El cariño que siempre existirá entre dos personas que un día se quisieron y aunque el tiempo y los errores lo destruyeron todo, sigue existiendo empatía y solidaridad. Tal vez el hecho de haber tenido a alguien que me dio mucho apoyo cuando siempre lo necesité, hace que me guste tanto la historia de esta película.
Afrontar la pérdida y la tristeza presentes en toda la historia no la convierte en un drama lacrimógeno, en absoluto. Al contrario, su mensaje es bastante optimista. No podemos cambiar lo que es inevitable. El dolor también forma parte de la vida, por eso siempre debemos intentar aprovechar los buenos momentos y no perder el tiempo en lo que está vacío. El tiempo con los seres queridos es lo más importante, es ahí donde encontraremos los destellos de la vida.

Los film sencillos siempre tienen lo suyo. Cuando hablas de perdida me hiciste recordar a una amistad que perdió a un ser querido esta semana y estaba haciendo todo en sus manos para llevarlos a donde ella estaba.

El dolor y ese tipo de vivencias son parte de la vida, parte de lo que contratamos vivir antes de venir, de ello siempre se saca una enseñanza... es un camino y este tipo de películas muestra la realidad. Me gusta mucho esta recomendación, uno puede sentir muchas cosas, porque se ha vivido experiencias parecidas.

depende del estado de animo del espectador. me gusto y conecte con los personajes, pero puedo entender que hay publico que no le agradara, el ritmo es lento, hay tomas largas y para muchos puede ser aburrida, pero en mi caso, llego a mi corazón la historia.
