Bienvenidos a la segunda parte de mi análisis de la Película "Hijos de la sal" de los Directores venezolanos Luis y Andrés Rodríguez.
En esta ocasión quiero enfocar mi análisis en el sonido y comentarios generales para finalizar, el sonido es tan vital como las imágenes. Con este post les invito a ESCUCHAR las películas, sentirlas, a través de los sonidos solemos crear sensaciones en el espectador y por ello el sonido es tan trabajado, no sólo la música, también los sonidos en off.
Luego de hacer una comparativa entre el sonido y la imagen de esta película puedo decir que el sonido y música de ambiente me parece suave y relajado, el sonido del mar, de las pisadas de Enrique en la orilla y contrastan con las imágenes rudas que se presentan, como Enrique atreviéndose por primera vez a seguir el trabajo de su difunto padre, el lastimar sus manos y tener ese nivel de esfuerzo físico.
También es evidente el uso de tambores "in crescendo" para darle intensidad a una escena tensa, con lo cual se trabaja al espectador y su emotividad, haciendo que se sumerja más en la película y entienda la rudeza de la situación que se presenta.
Vamos a ver cuales son algunos de los sonidos diegéticos o extradiegéticos, para ello primero les explico qué son!
Sonidos diegéticos: Se trata de todos los sonidos que se encuentran dentro del mundo narrativo de la película, o sea, están en la historia y los personajes los pueden escuchar, como las voces, el sonido del mar, de los árboles moviéndose con la brisa, los autos, en general, son los sonidos ambientales, voces y sonidos de objetos.
Sonidos extradiegéticos: Son elementos que fortalecen la narrativa cinematográfica, están fuera de la historia, los personajes no la pueden oir, pero ustedes el público sí, y están para causarles sensaciones que apoyen lo que están visualizando y se sientan parte de la película, como música de fondo o banda sonora y efectos de sonido.
Escogí específicamente una escena: Escena de Enrique en las salinas. (Minuto 1:30:24 a 1:30:38).

Esta escena es muy rica en sonidos, presenta tanto sonidos diegéticos como extradiegéticos.
Entre los sonidos diegéticos tenemos los quejidos de Enrique mientras golpea las salinas, el golpe de la pala con el agua y los trozos de sal, sus pisadas, los pequeños pedazos de sal que Enrique levanta y caen de sus manos.
Los sonidos extradiegéticos en esta escena son dos: Como una especie de motor viejo sonando, este ruido sube y baja en intensidad, y una música tétrica de fondo que le da sensación de inestabilidad y tensión a la escena.
Mi valoración general de la película:
Esta película plantea la cotidianidad de algunas familias disfuncionales de clase baja, donde los niños comienzan a trabajar desde muy temprana edad para ayudar a mantener a su familia perdiendo su etapa de infancia y desarrollo, muestra la importancia de una buena crianza en esa etapa temprana de la vida, ya que todo lo que viven y observan deja huella en ellos y luego serán repetidores de conductas, sobretodo cuando crecen sufriendo maltrato por parte de sus propios padres.
Esta historia nos muestra la realidad de vivir en un ambiente de pobreza y maltrato y las graves consecuencias que deja a nivel psicológico en quienes la viven, sobretodo en la infancia y adolescencia, sin embargo, también nos muestra la belleza de superar obstáculos y de empezar de nuevo por más difícil que sea la vida.
El crecimiento de los personajes es evidente a pesar del daño emocional que se percibe a través de sus conductas, un niño tímido que se atreve a realizar trabajos duros siguiendo el camino de su padre pero que también expresa su sufrimiento a través de la violencia, una adolescente con daño emocional debido a los abusos de su padre, que continua mostrando inestabilidad emocional pero al volver a tener en frente el abuso físico, ahora por parte de su hermano, decide darle un vuelco a su vida yéndose del lugar donde habita para comenzar de cero y dejar esa etapa atrás.
El sonido diegético en su mayoría es suave y relajante debido a los sonidos del mar, contrastando con las situaciones tensas y la inestabilidad emocional que se siente proveniente de los personajes, al contrario de los sonidos extradiegéticos, que van más en la misma línea de las emociones y las acciones y le dan intensidad a las escenas, como el caso de los sonidos de metales que van aumentando su volumen.
El género de esta película es drama, ya que narra una triste realidad de algunas familias, infancias dañadas, muerte, soledad, abusos.
Se puede comparar con la película, "El año que mis padres se fueron de vacaciones" (2006), también del género drama.
Semejanzas: Ambas tratan sobre niños que quedan solos/huérfanos y deben enfrentarse a la vida. En ambas hay cierta curiosidad sexual por parte de los niños. Ambas están ambientadas en barrios, aunque de distintos niveles de clase.
Diferencias: Tocan temas parecidos, sin embargo, ésta película no llega a ser tan cruel como Hijos de la sal.
Están ambientadas en épocas distintas, Hijos de la sal es contemporánea y El año que mis padres se fueron de vacaciones, está ambientada en el año 1970.
La segunda toca un tema político, mientras que hijos de la sal es un llamado de atención en el ámbito social.
Una frase que me hizo reflexionar fue
“La sal, la sal lo jode todo”
Me hizo pensar en cómo ciertos oficios te quitan la vida, afectando tu salud y tus ánimos debido a lo agotador que puede ser. También lo relacioné con los mitos de que la sal da mala suerte, así que pensé que estar tan inmersa en ella era un mensaje de las desventuras que viven los personajes.
Esta película me hizo reflexionar mucho sobre la vida y agradecer lo que tengo y a quienes tengo, fue trabajada de una bella manera logrando transmitir su esencia, espero se den la oportunidad de disfrutarla, hasta la próxima!

Welcome to the second part of my analysis of the film “Hijos de la sal” by Venezuelan directors Luis and Andres Rodriguez.
This time I want to focus my analysis on sound and general comments to finish, sound is as vital as images. With this post I invite you to LISTEN to the films, to feel them, through the sounds we usually create sensations in the spectator and that is why the sound is so worked, not only the music, also the sounds in off.
After making a comparison between the sound and the image of this film I can say that the ambient sound and music seems to me soft and relaxed, the sound of the sea, the sound of Enrique's footsteps on the shore and contrast with the rough images that are presented, as Enrique daring for the first time to follow the work of his late father, to hurt his hands and have that level of physical effort.
Also evident is the use of drums “in crescendo” to give intensity to a tense scene, which works on the viewer and their emotionality, making them become more immersed in the film and understand the rudeness of the situation presented.
Let's see what are some of the diegetic or extradiegetic sounds, first I will explain what they are!
Diegetic sounds: These are all the sounds that are within the narrative world of the film, that is, they are in the story and the characters can hear them, such as voices, the sound of the sea, the sound of trees moving in the breeze, cars, in general, they are environmental sounds, voices and sounds of objects.
Extradiegetic sounds: These are elements that strengthen the cinematographic narrative, they are outside the story, the characters can't hear them, but you the audience can, and they are there to cause sensations that support what they are visualizing and make them feel part of the film, such as background music or soundtrack and sound effects.
I specifically chose one scene: Enrique's scene in the salt flats (Minute 1:30:24 to 1:30:38).

This scene is very rich in sound, featuring both diegetic and extradiegetic sounds.
Among the diegetic sounds we have Enrique's moans as he hits the salt pans, the thumping of the shovel with the water and the pieces of salt, his footsteps, the small pieces of salt that Enrique picks up and fall from his hands.
The extradiegetic sounds in this scene are two: Like some kind of old engine sounding, this noise rises and falls in intensity, and a gloomy background music that gives a sense of instability and tension to the scene.
My overall assessment of the film:
This film shows the daily life of some dysfunctional lower class families, where children begin to work at a very early age to help support their family, losing their childhood and development stage. It shows the importance of a good upbringing at that early stage of life, since everything they experience and observe leaves its mark on them and later they will be repeaters of behaviors, especially when they grow up being abused by their own parents.
This story shows us the reality of living in an environment of poverty and mistreatment and the serious psychological consequences it leaves on those who live it, especially in childhood and adolescence, however, it also shows us the beauty of overcoming obstacles and starting over no matter how difficult life may be.
The growth of the characters is evident despite the emotional damage that is perceived through their behavior, a shy boy who dares to do hard work following the path of his father but also expresses his suffering through violence, a teenager with emotional damage due to the abuse of his father, who continues to show emotional instability but to have again in front of physical abuse, now by his brother, decides to turn his life around by leaving the place where he lives to start from scratch and leave that stage behind.
The diegetic sound is mostly soft and relaxing due to the sounds of the sea, contrasting with the tense situations and the emotional instability that is felt coming from the characters, as opposed to the extradiegetic sounds, which are more in the same line of emotions and actions and give intensity to the scenes, as in the case of the sounds of metals that are increasing in volume.
The genre of this film is drama, as it narrates a sad reality of some families, damaged childhoods, death, loneliness, abuse.
It can be compared to the film, “The year my parents went on vacation” (2006), also of the drama genre.
Similarities: Both are about children who are left alone/orphaned and must face life. In both there is some sexual curiosity on the part of the children. Both are set in neighborhoods, albeit of different class levels.
Differences: They touch on similar themes, however, this film is not as cruel as Hijos de la sal.
They are set in different times, Hijos de la sal is contemporary and El año que mis padres se fueron de vacaciones is set in 1970.
The latter touches on a political theme, while Children of Salt is a call for attention in the social sphere.
A phrase that made me reflect was
“Salt, salt fucks up everything.”
It made me think about how certain trades take the life out of you, affecting your health and your spirits because of how exhausting it can be. I also related it to the myths that salt is bad luck, so I thought that being so immersed in it was a message of the misfortunes the characters go through.
This movie made me reflect a lot about life and be thankful for what I have and who I have, it was beautifully crafted and managed to convey its essence, I hope you get the chance to enjoy it, see you next time!
