Hello everyone, I hope you are feeling excellent today. I feel a little sick, I have had severe pain in my back, but I'm getting better little by little... well, today I wanted to talk about a movie I saw last week on Netflix, and it left a really deep impression on me, and I wanted to talk about it. This is the movie: All Quiet on the Western Front, which is based on a novel from 1920, which tells us a story in a super sad scenario, as it is the First World War, and we will see all this conflict through young soldiers. From the very first moment, this movie feels a bit somber in tone, and extremely realistic... The main story follows Paul, a young, idealistic boy, who joins the German army with the great hope of living a heroic life, and being recognized.

However, it becomes clear to him very early on that the reality of war is very different from the glorious fantasies that were sold to all young people. The film is truly relentless in its portrayal of war. We can see exactly how it mercilessly shreds and snatches lives. From the very first scenes, where you see how the uniforms of the dead soldiers are recycled for the new recruits, it is clear that all these soldiers are seen as nothing more than simple, totally replaceable pieces in a macabre game.

Yo me siento un poco enfermo, he tenido dolores fuertes en la espalda, pero voy mejorando poco a poco.. bueno, hoy quería hablarles de una película que vi la semana pasada en Netflix, y me dejo una impresión realmente profunda, y quede con ganas de hablar de ella. Esta es la película: Sin Novedad en el Frente, que está basada en una novela del año 1920, que nos cuenta una historia en un escenario super triste, como lo es la Primera Guerra Mundial, y veremos todo este conflicto a través de jóvenes soldados. Desde el primer momento, esta película se siente con un tono algo sombrío, y sumamente realista.. La historia principal sigue a Paul, un muchacho joven, idealista, que se una al ejército alemán con la gran esperanza de vivir una vida heroica, y ser reconocido.

Sin embargo, muy temprano queda claro para el que la realidad de lo que es una guerra es muy diferente a las gloriosas fantasías que fueron vendidas a todos los jóvenes. La película es realmente implacable en su retrato de la guerra.. Podemos ver exactamente como esta tritura y arrebata vidas sin piedad alguna. Desde las primeras escenas, donde ves como los uniformes de los soldados muertos so reciclados para los nuevos reclutas, queda claro que todos estos soldados son vistos nada más como simples piezas totalmente reemplazables en un juego macabro.

The performances in this film are great, especially that of actor Felix Kammerer, who plays Paul... he perfectly captured and expressed the transformation of this enthusiastic young man into a broken and disillusioned man. The film does not focus on heroism, or on individual bravery... but on all the brutality of war, this is something unique and devastating... It makes you feel these events from a more real, human and raw perspective.

What impressed me the most was all the cinematography itself, all the battle scenes are very intense and realistic, with a moving camera that immerses you in the chaos and confusion of the combat that is unfolding... Even so, the story also takes time to show the moments of calm, and camaraderie between these soldiers... these types of scenes, although they may seem unnecessary... are the ones that make you connect with the characters, and feel their humanity in a better way. Seeing all these soldiers sharing their food, or reading letters from their loved ones, adds more emotional depth that makes you genuinely care about their fates....

Las actuaciones de este filme están geniales, especialmente la del actor Felix Kammerer, quien interpreta a Paul.. supo capturar y expresar perfectamente la transformación de este joven entusiasta a un hombre roto y desilusionado. La película no se enfoca en la heroicidad, o en las valentías individuales.. sino en toda la brutalidad de la guerra, esto es algo único y devastador.. Ya que te hace sentir estos eventos desde una perspectiva más real, humana y cruda.

Lo que más me impresiono fue toda la cinematografía en sí, todas las escenas de batallas son muy intensas y realistas, con una cámara en movimiento que te sumerge en el caos y la confusión del combate que se desarrolla.. Aun así, la historia también tiene su tiempo para mostrar los momentos de calma, y camarería entre estos soldados.. este tipo de escenas, aunque pueden parecer innecesarias.. son las que te hacen conectar con los personajes, y sentir de mejor forma su humanidad. Ver a todos estos soldados compartir su comida, o leer cartas de sus seres queridos, añade más profundidad emocional que hace que te preocupes genuinamente por sus destinos..

This film does a great job of contrasting life in the trenches with that of the military high command... you can see how these officers are enjoying great meals, in cool mansions... while the soldiers are dying in the mud, this is very shocking, such contrast underlines the disconnect between those who make the decisions and those who must live, or die with them. One of the moments that stuck with me the most, is its opening... it shows the viewer all the coldness and brutality that will come later, it is a very brilliant way to show the great dehumanization of war.

All this with an overall impeccable production, from the details of the production design, costumes, to the special effects and sound effects... everything contributes greatly to create an immersive experience. It's a shame that due to its streaming distribution, many people won't be able to see it on the big screen, where I think it would really shine. Still, this production has a lot of quality, and it is appreciated, on any type of screen.

Esta película hace un gran trabajo al contrastar la vida en las trincheras con la de los altos mandos militares.. se puede ver como estos oficiales están disfrutando de grandes comidas, en mansiones geniales.. mientas los soldados mueren en el barro, esto es muy impactante, dicho contraste subraya la desconexión entre aquellos que toman las decisiones y aquellos que deben vivir, o morir con ellas. Uno de los momentos que más me marcaron, es su apertura.. le muestra al espectador toda la frialdad y brutalidad que vendrá más adelante, es una manera muy brillante de mostrar la gran deshumanización de la guerra.

Todo esto con una producción general impecable, desde los detalles del diseño de producción, vestuarios, hasta los efectos especiales y de sonido.. todo contribuye enormemente a crear una experiencia inmersiva. Es una pena que debido a su distribución en streaming, muchas personas no puedan verla en la pantalla grande, donde creo que brillaría mucho. Aun así, esta producción tiene mucha calidad, y se aprecia, en cualquier tipo de pantalla.

As for the script, I was very surprised by the way the balance between the combat scenes and the calmer ones was handled. The pacing is excellent, keeping the viewer engaged at all times... Every scene feels like it has a purpose, and that's a real highlight. Although personally, I felt that the warlord scenes were repeated a lot, the first few times were ok, but then it makes the rhythm of the story lose a little bit.. but as always, these are really small things, this movie may not be easy to watch for the more sensitive people, due to the themes it deals with, and the adult scenes.

Although I think it is very important to see this kind of productions, it reminds us of the brutality of war in a way that few movies or series achieve, because here it is not about romanticizing war, and putting one side as the good and heroic one. It is not about glorifying conflicts, it presents us with an honest view of what it means for soldiers to be out there, in a real war. I really recommend it, I give it a 9/10 rating. Its technical aspects and performances are to be applauded, it is really satisfying to find this kind of cinema, the kind that is not afraid to hit you emotionally in order to leave you thinking. En cuanto al guion, me sorprendió para bien la manera de manejar el equilibrio entre las escenas de combate, con las más calmadas. El ritmo es excelente, manteniendo al espectador enganchado en todo momento.. Cada escena se siente que tiene un propósito, esto es supera destacable.. Aunque personalmente, me pareció que las escenas de los jefes militares se repetían mucho, las primeras veces estuvieron bien, pero luego hace perder un poco el ritmo de la historia.. pero como siempre, son cosas realmente pequeñas, esta película puede que no sea fácil de ver para las personas más sensibles, debido a los temas que trata, y a las escenas para adultos.

Aunque considero que es muy importante ver este tipo de producciones, nos recuerda la brutalidad de la guerra de una manera que pocas películas o series logran, ya que aquí no se trata de romantizar la guerra, y de poner a un bando como el bueno y heroico. No se trata de glorificar los conflictos, nos presenta una visión honesta de lo que significa para los soldados estar allá afuera, en una guerra real. Realmente la recomiendo, le doy una calificación de 9/10. Sus aspectos técnicos y actuaciones son de aplaudir, es realmente satisfactorio encontrar este tipo de cine, de aquel que no teme golpearte emocionalmente con tal de dejarte pensando.
