This story tells the tragic story of the Von Erich family, an important family name in professional wrestling in the 80's.. The movie perfectly captures the whole atmosphere of this era... when wrestling was at the height of its popularity, we see the different crowds, we feel all the energy, and we understand all the appeal of this world where athleticism and strength are mixed with theatricality... It is a spectacle that is both captivating and dangerous, the film quickly introduces us to the patriarch of the family, Fritz Von Erick, a former wrestler determined that his sons will succeed in winning the world title that he never managed to achieve.

However, this same ambition quickly turns into an obsession... and the film crudely portrays the enormous pressure he puts on his sons: Kevin, Kerry, David and Mike. We will see how all this pressure becomes a double-edged sword, pushing them towards greatness in the ring, but at the same time feeding all their inner demons.... Zac Efron delivers a truly masterful performance as Kevin, the son who bears the brunt of his father's greatest expectations, through this actor's strong performance, we will see how all those internal struggles are really difficult...he has to deal with the love of wrestling, the desire to make his father proud and the crushing weight of carrying the family legacy on his shoulders. It shows us both the strength and vulnerability of this character, and delivers a perfectly flawed wrestler.

Hola a todos, queridos amigos y amigas.. espero que se encuentren muy bien en el día de hoy. En esta ocasión les daré mis opiniones sobre la película: The Iron Claw. Esta historia narra la trágica historia de la familia Von Erich, un apellido importante en la lucha libre profesional en los años 80.. La película captura a la perfección toda la atmósfera de esta época.. cuando la lucha libre vivía su auge de popularidad, vemos a las diferentes multitudes, sentimos toda la energía, y comprendemos todo el atractivo de este mundo donde el atletismo y la fuerza se mezclan con la teatralidad.. Es un espectáculo que es cautivador y a la vez peligroso, la película nos presenta rápidamente al patriarca de la familia, Fritz Von Erick, un ex luchador decidido a que sus hijos logren obtener el título mundial que él nunca logró alcanzar.

Sin embargo, esta misma ambición se convierte rápidamente en una obsesión.. y la película retrata de manera cruda la enorme presión que impone sobre sus hijos: Kevin, Kerry, David y Mike. Veremos como toda esta presión se convierte en una espada de doble filo, empujándolos hacia la grandeza en el cuadrilátero, pero alimentando al mismo tiempo todos sus demonios internos.. Zac Efron ofrece una actuación realmente magistral como Kevin, él hijo que carga con el peso mayor de las expectativas más grandes de su padre, a través de la interpretación marcada de este actor, veremos como todas esas luchas internas son realmente difíciles.. tiene que lidiar con el amor por la lucha libre, el deseo de enorgullecer a su padre y el aplastante peso de llevar sobre sus hombros el legado familiar. Nos muestra tanto la fortaleza como la vulnerabilidad de este personaje, y nos entrega un luchador perfectamente defectuoso.

The rest of the cast I also thought did very well...they deliver really interesting performances, bringing to life all the different dynamics that exist in the large wrestling family. Together they create an intimate portrait of a family that seems to be united by love, loyalty and a shared passion for wrestling, but is ultimately torn apart by the pressures and strong influence of the father's ambition.... One of the greatest strengths of this film is undoubtedly the whole exploration it offers of toxic masculinity, especially in the context of the father-son relationship...the father's domineering personality is felt throughout the film casting a long shadow over his sons' lives, something that does affect viewers...

He just wants to make them winners, at all costs, as this is the only way to ensure his success, but in doing so, he creates an environment where any emotional vulnerability is seen as a horrible weakness and any deviation from his predetermined path is met with total disapproval... all this toxic masculinity becomes a fierce curse that is passed down from father to son, with each generation struggling to break free from this lousy control.

We are also shown the whole dark world of wrestling, we see all the physical toll the sport takes on the wrestlers, the constant threat of various injuries and the enormous pressure to maintain a flawless and manly image both in and out of the ring. The film also touches on steroids and those substances that offered some temporary relief from the long days of physical wear and tear, and how this would end up drastically affecting the downfall of many talented athletes.

El resto del elenco también considero que lo hizo muy bien.. entregan interpretaciones realmente interesantes, dando vida a todas las diferentes dinámicas que existen en la gran familia de luchadores. Juntos crean un retrato íntimo de una familia que parece estar unida por el amor, la lealtad y una pasión compartida por la lucha libre, pero que finalmente se ve destrozada por las presiones y la gran influencia de la ambición del padre.. Una de las mayores fortalezas de esta película es, sin duda, toda la exploración que ofrece a la masculinidad tóxica, especialmente en el contexto de la relación padre-hijo.. la personalidad dominante del padre se siente durante toda la película proyectando una larga sombra sobre las vidas de sus hijos, algo que si afecta a los espectadores..

El solo quiere volverlos unos ganadores, a toda costa, ya que esta es la única forma de asegurar su éxito, pero al hacerlo, crea un entorno en el que toda vulnerabilidad emocional se ve como una horrible debilidad y cualquier desviación de su camino predeterminado es recibida con total desaprobación.. toda esta masculinidad tóxica se convierte en una feroz maldición que es transmitida de padre a hijo, con cada generación luchando por liberarse de este pésimo control.

También nos muestran todo el oscuro mundo de la lucha libre, vemos todo el desgaste físico que el deporte cobra a los luchadores, la amenaza constante de diferentes lesiones y la enorme presión que existe para mantener una imagen impecable y varonil tanto dentro como fuera del ring. La película también aborda todo lo relacionado a los esteroides y aquellas sustancias que ofrecían cierto alivio temporal en las largas jornadas de desgaste físico, y cómo esto terminaría afectando drásticamente la caída de muchos atletas talentosos..

Although it may seem that this film is entirely bleak and dark, the director also manages to convey many scenes with some sensitivity, allowing the audience to empathize with all the struggles of these characters, and thus fully understand the emotional toll they contributed to their tragic fates. A unique film language is masterfully used to bring all viewers into a powerful emotional core in the unfolding of the story, highlighting many images that are off-center, many awkward silences, and carefully placed music to create a mood that manages to intensify all the emotional impact that the protagonists have in this hard life.

This whole approach elevates the story and differentiates it too much from other typical sports biography type movies, and transforms it into a much deeper story... instead of just explicitly showing every painful event and making people interested just for morbid interest, it employs much better the idea that the audience itself is in charge of filling those gaps in the scenes, making them try to better understand the events that the characters are going through. I think this shows all the deep respect there is for the real people whose story inspired this film, as they are not just fighters who are there just to be beaten and to hit, but people who feel, cry and have feelings.

A pesar de que parezca que esta película es totalmente sombría y oscura, el director también se las arregla para transmitir muchas escenas con cierta sensibilidad, permitiendo al público empatizar con todas las luchas de estos personajes, y así comprender perfectamente el desgaste emocional que contribuyeron a sus trágicos destinos. Se utiliza magistralmente un lenguaje de cine único para meter a todos los espectadores en un núcleo emocional potente en el desarrollo de la historia, se destacan muchas imágenes que están descentralizadas, muchos silencios incómodos, y una música cuidadosamente colocada para crear un ambiente que logre intensificar todo el impacto emocional que tienen los protagonistas en esta vida tan dura..

Todo este enfoque eleva mucho la historia y la diferencia demasiado de otras películas típicas del tipo biografía deportiva, y la transforma en una historia mucho más profunda.. en lugar de simplemente mostrar de manera explícita cada evento doloroso y hacer que las personas se interesen por simple morbo, emplea mucho mejor la idea de que sea el mismo público el que se encargue de llenar esos vacíos que existen en las escenas, haciendo que traten de entender mejor los eventos que están pasando los personajes. Creo que esto demuestra todo el profundo respeto que hay hacia las personas reales cuya historia inspiró esta película, ya que no son simples luchadores que están ahí solo para que los golpeen y para golpear, sino que son personas que sienten, lloran y tienen sentimientos.

I think it invites us to reflect on the complexities that exist in the different family dynamics, the danger of uncontrolled ambition and the importance of recognizing and dismantling all the toxic masculinity that exists today and that many people still defend, I think it is a very necessary film. . they use the exploration of a true story to convey a myriad of emotions that goes far beyond simply showing an interesting sport, it offers a powerful cinematic experience that I definitely recommend to all those who wish to delve into a sensitive story that will leave you with lessons.... Esta película es sin duda muy profunda.. creo que nos invita mucho a reflexionar sobre las complejidades que existen en las diferentes dinámicas familiares, el peligro de una ambición descontrolada y la importancia de reconocer y desmantelar toda la masculinidad tóxica que existe actualmente y que aun muchas personas defienden, opino que es una película muy necesaria.. utilizan la exploración de una historia real para transmitir un sinfín de emociones que va mucho más allá de simplemente mostrar un deporte interesante, ofrece una poderosa experiencia cinematográfica que sin duda recomiendo a todos aquellos que deseen adentrarse en una historia sensible y que les dejé enseñanzas..
