Hocus Pocus and my Halloween Tradition | Eng-Esp | Abracadabra y mi Tradición de Halloween

I saw this film when I was a child, but since 2000 when we started having cable TV in our house I noticed that I used to watch it every Halloween. In fact, it has always been the first movie of the night, the most innocent but the most related to that holiday, because then I spend the whole day traumatizing myself with deaths and ghosts 🤣 Like many people here, this holiday is not from my country, but it is one of the most anticipated dates for everyone.

Esta película la vi en mi infancia, pero desde el año 2000 que comenzamos a tener tv por cable en la casa noté que casualmente la veía todos los días de Halloween. De hecho siempre ha sido la primera película de la noche, la más inocente pero la más relacionada a esa festividad, porque luego paso toda la jornada traumatizándome con muertes y espectros 🤣 Al igual que muchos aquí, esta festividad no es de mi país, pero es una de las fechas más esperadas por todos.

For me, it's the perfect witches' night film, as these three sisters really do come back from hell to wreak havoc, just as they did in the 17th century. Watching them deal with the modernity of 1993 is one of the most special moments in cinema and the script is simply exquisite. A film that looks like a children's film, but hides realities that will grip any adult. We can't forget one of the most important details of this film... The beautiful and captivating Binx 😻

Para mí, es la película perfecta de noche de brujas, ya que realmente vuelven desde el infierno estas tres hermanas a causar estragos, tal como en el siglo XVII. Verlas lidiar con la modernidad de 1993 es uno de los momentos más especiales del cine y el guión es sencillamente exquisito. Una película que parece para niños, pero que esconde realidades que atrapan a cualquier adulto. No podemos olvidar uno de los detalles más importantes de esta película... El hermoso y cautivador Binx 😻

Besides Binx, as a musician I think another secret to the film's success is the music, as great as anything Disney does. Although it's a cover, I Put A Spell On You was the perfect choice to hear Bette Midler's vocal power in the best rock style, plus they use the beautiful singing of a young witch to lure the children of the village with a spell. The drama intensifies as dawn approaches, making us all feel for a moment that evil will win and the witches will stay among us, but they do not. They vanish and return to hell. The only sad thing about this film was that it was coming to an end and that we fans were left wanting more, but it is perfect, I came to resign myself many years ago that there would not be a second part, that it was not necessary, and then came the year 2022...

Además de Binx, como músico creo que otro de los secretos del éxito de la película es su música, tan grandiosa como todo lo que hace Disney. Aunque se trata de un cover, I Put A Spell On You fue la elección perfecta para escuchar la potencia vocal de Bette Midler al mejor estilo rock, además, usan la hermoso canto de una bruja joven para atraer a los niños del pueblo con un hechizo. El drama se intensifica cuando falta poco para el amanecer haciéndonos sentir a todos por un momento que el mal ganará y que las brujas se quedarían entre nosotros, pero no fue así. Ellas se esfuman y vuelven al infierno. Lo único triste de esta película era que se acababa y que los fans quedábamos con ganas de más, pero es perfecta, llegue a resignarme hace muchos años que no habría una segunda parte, que no era necesaria, y entonces llegó el año 2022...

For the last few years I tried not to let myself be convinced about rumours of this second Hocus Pocus installment, I didn't want them to break my heart, and boy were the rumours strong, but finally the news was official and I literally jumped up and down in excitement. One of the things that surprised me the most was that they reunited the three original actresses, and you have to agree they did a great job of trying to make them look like they did in 1993, "How time flies when you're dead" 🤣 This movie is so important to me that I use many of its lines practically everyday with my girl and with my brother, at least the phrases from the Spanish version like this one I wrote above, the sound the three sisters make when they walk (I love to tease with that hahaha) and even the high pitched call from the bookoooooo. .. Definitely a movie that is part of me in every way.

Durante los últimos años trate de no dejarme convencer sobre rumores de esta segunda entrega de Hocus Pocus, no quería que rompieran mi corazón, y vaya que los rumores eran muy fuertes, pero finalmente la noticia fue oficial y literalmente salté en una pata de emoción. Una de las cosas que más me sorprendió fue que reunieran a las tres actrices originales, y hay que aceptar que hicieron un gran trabajo para intentar que lucieran como en 1993, "Como vuela el tiempo cuando estás muerta" 🤣 Esta película es tan importante para mí que uso muchas de sus frases prácticamente a diario con mi chica y con mi hermano, al menos las frases de la versión en español como esta que les escribí arriba, el sonido que hacen las tres hermanas al caminar (me encanta molestar con eso jajaja) y hasta la llamada con un tono muy agudo de voz del librooooooo... Definitivamente una película que es parte de mí en todo sentido.

I will proudly see both films today, in fact they are going to show it in the shopping centre near my house, as Disney is showing its great classics in cinemas, but I still haven't decided whether to go out and see it there because it would break my tradition and I also have it here at home. I'll see them today, especially because I haven't seen the second one since the day of its premiere, but between us, I don't know if it's a film I'll see every year like the first one...

Con mucho orgullo hoy veré ambas películas, de hecho la van a exhibir en el centro comercial cerca de casa, ya que Disney está pasando en cines sus grandes clásicos, solo que aún no me decido si salir a verla allá porque rompería mi tradición y también la tengo acá en casa. Las veré hoy, sobretodo porque la segunda no la he visto desde el día de su estreno, pero aquí entre nos, no sé si sea una película que vea todos los años como la primera...

All the people from the first film are wonderful, "ALL", even the shoe thieves, but a year later I don't remember any of the new cast, obviously they didn't have the same impact on me. The second film was pretty good, as usual Disney put a lot of emphasis on the past of the main characters. It was an interesting story to take into account, but in my opinion it was not transcendental. After waiting so many years for a sequel, I now feel it was better to have left this great classic as it was. It's still recommended and I'll still watch it again, but as a fan I can tell you that it doesn't have the same impact.

Todos los personas de la primera película son maravillosos, "TODOS", hasta los ladrones de zapatos, pero un año después no recuerdo nada del elenco nuevo, obviamente no tuvieron el mismo impacto en mí. La segunda película fue bastante buena, como de costumbre Disney hizo mucho énfasis en el pasado de los personajes principales. Fue una historia interesante a tomar en cuenta, pero en mi opinión no fue trascendental. Después de haber esperado tantos años por una segunda parte, siento ahora que era mejor haber dejado ese gran clásico así como estaba. Igual es recomendable e igual la volveré a ver, pero como fan les digo que no tiene el mismo impacto.

After Hocus Pocus I have a lot on the list for this Halloween night, but today only what I have saved on Netflix will suffice. They are not about Halloween, but they are horror, I have 8th Night, Third Eye and The Silence saved. I don't know if they'll be any good, you can also make me a recommendation, but something that will make me shiver with fear 😅 but if I don't like any of them I'll always have the old reliable "Evil Dead" 😖 or traumatize me again like every year with the first Hostel movie 😵.

Luego de Hocus Pocus tengo mucho en la lista para esta noche de Halloween, pero hoy solo bastará lo que tengo guardado en Netflix. No tratan sobre Halloween, pero sí son de terror, tengo guardadas la 8va Noche, el Tercer Ojo y El Silencio. No sé si serán buenas, también me pueden hacer alguna recomendación, pero algo que me haga temblar de miedo 😅 igual si alguna no me gusta siempre tendré las vieja confiable "Evil Dead" 😖 o traumatizarme nuevamente como cada año con la primera película de Hostel 😵
