ABOUT THE MOVIE

"SITTING IN BARS WITH CAKE" is a 2023 romantic comedy-drama directed by Trish Sie based on a novel of 2016 with the same name written by Audrey Shulman. This movie is about two best friends, Jane and Corinne living in L.A. Jane is the shy introvert who doesn't like putting herself out there while Corinne is the lively outgoing one who takes Jane to any club or outing she is going for.

Jane is the friend between them that cleans up after Corinne and she did it effortlessly without any complaints.

The main reason Jane is in L.A. is because her parents expect her to study Law, she doesn't want to but she can't tell her parents yet because that was the only reason they let her come out to L.A. in the first place.

During this time she discovers her love for baking cakes, after baking a cake for her best friend, Corinne's birthday, which they ate in a bar with everyone there.

So her parents left after they made sure she was situated, as time went Corinne was responding to the treatments well and positively til one day she had a seizure again and she was taken to the hospital.

She started having amnesia, the doctor told them it had become worse than what they had expected and that the tumor had grown to another part that they could not cure and operate on, she gave them a list of hospitals they could go to for further treatments but the hospitals either said they were too late, the tumor was already far gone or she was not a match so there was nothing they could do.

Fred, Corinne's dad, lamented to Ruth, Corinne's mother, that they would have taken her to their hometown when it was still early but Ruth told him that it wasn't their decision to make and that Corinne wouldn't have wanted that.

This was very sad but Jane decided to finish the cake barring for the both of them and then came back to the hospital to tell Corinne all about it, even bringing souvenirs.

Finally, Corinne was discharged from the hospital and taken home where she and Jane spent her last days together till she gave up.

Before now Jane had already told her parents that she didn't want to study Law, so after Corinne passed on she became a full time baker and did well in it.

Wow🥲, this move was very touching and emotional, what I loved most about the movie was their friendship, the way they bonded and didn't let anything strain their bond even a argument. They way they had each other's back all the time, always pushing the other to do what was good for them. I admired their friendship, I cried a lot while I watched this movie😅.
