Movie Review: Eng/Esp- Kinda Pregnant/Un poco embarazada

Comedy films can give so much relief and help unwind. Was taking down my braids so I decided to watch a movie and I found “Kinda Pregnant”was totally worth it.

Kinda Pregnant is a 2025 American comedy film about Lainy, a lady who from a very young age has had the dream to become a mother someday which might have steamed up from the fact that she was an orphan.

Growing up, Lainy and her best friend Kate now work as teachers in the same school. Lainy’s boyfriend, Dave, of four years asks her out for dinner, she thinks that he is asking out to propose to her, this thought gets her very excited.

She goes for the dinner and instead of being proposed to, Dave asks her to participate in a threesome. She is so disheartened that she makes a dramatic exit from the restaurant. Kate is married and at this time she discovers that she is pregnant, she tells Lainy even if she feels bad for telling her when she's always wanted to have a baby and she is going through a heartbreak.

But Lainy insists that she is very happy for her friend. During one of their shopping for maternity clothings, Lainy tries on a fake pregnancy belle and without the knowledge of her friend, she takes it.

Lainy begins a double life, she goes to a prenatal yoga class and makes friends with Megan,one of the pregnant moms who invite for dinner at her house. She begins to go back and forth with being pregnant when she has to see Megan and not being pregnant when she is with people that know her already, which if you ask me was very stressful and unnecessary for a fake pregnancy.

But we move on, and eventually Lainy starts going out with Megan's brother, Josh. Everything is going ok until Josh tells her how much he trusts her and she knowing she has been deceiving him from the beginning can't stand it so she leaves.

Fast-forward to when Lainy tells one of her coworkers who has known about her double life all along that she has to pretend to get rid of the fake baby, she is overheard by another coworker who is also pregnant, Shirley who then tells Kate.

Kate invites Lainy for her baby shower at the same time she invites Magan, her husband, Steve and her brother, Josh. Everyone finds out that she has been faking the pregnancy, Morgan and Josh leave hurt.

Kate forgives Lainy and after Morgan gives birth, Lainy goes to her house to apologize. She sees and goes to apologize, also telling him that she loves him, Josh is still upset so Lainy leaves.

Later, while Lainy is teaching in school one of her students tells her that there is a Zamboni outside. Josh uses this grand gesture to confess his love for Lainy.

MY TAKE ON THE MOVIE

I get that being a mother can be a very beautiful thing but I don't get why she would make the lie escalate to the point where she would be hurting people around her.

I don't like that she lied about being pregnant because even if it was thrilling for a while she didn't earn anything good. Well aside that, I loved the movie, it really did make me laugh and I'd rate it a 8/10.

I recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't already watched it. Enjoy.

Entiendo que ser madre puede ser algo muy hermoso, pero no entiendo por qué haría que la mentira se intensificara hasta el punto en que estaría lastimando a la gente que la rodeaba.

No me gusta que haya mentido sobre estar embarazada porque incluso si fue emocionante por un tiempo no ganó nada bueno. Bueno, aparte de eso, me encantó la película, realmente me hizo reír y la calificaría un 8/10.

Recomiendo esta película a cualquiera que aún no la haya visto. Disfrutar.
