The Six Triple Eight - Movie Review

The Six Triple Eight, a 2024 American movie based on the article "Fighting a Two-Front War" by Kevin M. Hymel. Is about an all black women battalion in world war II who were given a challenge to give hope to the soldiers and their family during world war II and they delivered.

So basically, Six Triple Eight is made of different black women from different parts of the world who have come to join the military for one reason or the other.

Their training is very tough, rough and vigorous because they have to prove to the whole0 military with a majority of white people that they are supposed to be there and have no excuse to slack.

The battalion led by Captain Charity Adams and her Lieutenant Noel Campbell is called the The Six Triple Eight and despite their hard work and different ways she has shown that they are well trained they have not been given any orders.

After a mother is finally able to meet the First Lady in the White House and tell her that she and many others have not been receiving any letter from the war, a meeting is arranged and after going back and forth about how the task is very difficult and can't be done by just anyone it is made a priority.

The task is finally given to The Six Triple Eight battalion from two high ranking officers with the thought that there is no way they'd make it happen. They are given a very tough time by their Officer General as he is racist.

They were given a six month deadline to finish delivering mails of two years in a very uncomfortable environment. Once they were able to make the base they were given livable, they get to work which is difficult at first because there are different challenges like, rodents eating off the paper, illegible handwriting and so on.

Eventually, they are able to pass through the hurdles and find a pattern that works but while doing so their General comes in to check on their progress and to complain that work is not being done quick because his battalion has gotten them yet and that he is going to try and shout the operation down, he is confronted by Captain Adams and he doesn't take it lightly.

After he leaves, The Six Triple Eight applaud their Captain for what she did and then they get back to work. The General gets back and is still trying to shut their operation down when he hears cheers from outside and discovers that their mail has been delivered.

Finally The Six Triple Eight are able to deliver 17 million mails of two years in 90 days. They are appreciated when they get back to the US so they are then sent to France and Rouen to do the same.

MY TAKE ON THE MOVIE
Watching this movie, I've understood that no matter how good you are, they'd always be someone who thinks you're not good enough. Maybe because they feel intimidated or because they feel you are not worthy of that position.

One of my Favourite characters was Captain Adams, she showed a whole lot of resilience and power, she tried her best to not give her enemies reasons to doubt her worth and that of her battalion.

I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't watched it already.
