American Sniper | What a Tragic Turn! ๐ซ
Source 1, 2
Let's say I am not fond of movies with the themes of military, guns, and bombs. It is never my cup of tea in movies or series. I cannot remember the last time I watched a movie in this line, but last night, it broke the record. ๐ American Sniper... Okay, the title alone is not what I wanted for a movie night, but due to its hype, why not take a try, right? ๐
Oh, Bradley Cooper! He's a cutie. ๐ซ
The opening scene was Chris Kyle observing from his scope on a potential target. It was a woman with a child. I was like... is he going to pull the trigger? It was tense! ๐ฅฒ The woman got a grenade ready to throw at his comrades but on the other hand, ya know, it's life. The troops were saved and the woman and her child were shot. I was then hooked on this scene. I can't imagine how hard for Chris to make a decision- if he was committing a mistake... if he did not pull the trigger...
The movie transitioned to the pre-sniper Chris. He was then a cowboy going out every weekend with his brother, that was the reason for the break up with his girlfriend at that time. One night, as he watched the television, he saw war's chaos in contrast to how simple life was to him. He then pledged to serve the country.
As the storyline develops, Chris becomes known for his sharpshooting skills. He was then nicknamed The Legend among his troops. The movie portrayed the intensity he was bringing as the hero and the executor. That emotional attachment every time he got a kill. I really felt that. ๐ฅฒ I would go insane if I was him, plus the war happening.
Back and forth, there are parts of Chris as a father and a husband. Their relationship struggled because of his job. Being away from the family and the possibility of being killed on the job is always a constant worry for the family. At this point, Chris is not only battling enemies of the country but also his own emotions and fears. PSTD is real. ๐ซ I know this feeling of extreme stress due to past terrifying events. Every tremble or similar sound would make me jumpy or create flashbacks in my mind.
Mustafa was the main enemy of the plot regarded as the enemy's best sniper. He was the constant threat of the whole troop and a direct challenge to Chris. The final scene of Mustafa and Chris is one of the highlights of the movie when Mustafa is shot in the head 2100 yards away. But upon my research, the one who was killed was an insurgent ready to launch a rocket hence not the latter. Perhaps it was just for the movie. ๐ค
The final scene
Source 7. The real Chris Kyle.
Full interview here. The woman is so annoying and insensitive here, ugh.
The final scene is when Chris Kyle finally leaves the war to be with his family. He struggled with PTSD as he was trying to live again as a civilian. It left a big scar on him and so to his family. After leaving the military, he then wanted to help fellow veterans as this is what he thinks is his ultimate purpose.
It was a tragic turn... he was shot and killed by a fellow veteran who he was trying to help. God, it broke my heart. The moment left me in a state of shock and had to pause the movie. ๐๐ฅฒ It was tragic, sudden, unexpected... I thought he would live to tell more of his stories. A great loss. Truly a hero.
The film gave tribute to The Legend's heroism, sacrifices, and bravery. He died even before the film was released.

I'm fond of this genre, anything thrilling packed with action and military stuff...
Gonna add this to my list hehe .
Definitely a must watch if this genre is your cup of tea. ๐
Oh yeah this movie was freaking amazing!
I think I'm confusing a scene in it with an another movie though. Does this movie showed Bradley pulling out a metal piece from his leg? Idk I can't remember.
Anyway, his work in the hangover series has a special place in my heart haha.
Hmm no? I was thinking Joel from Last of Us, then he passed out. A metal rod was pinned to his leg.
Ahh this movie is so good ๐ฅน
Hm that was a different military movie I guess. I think it's time to watch American sniper again. I hope there is no nudity ๐.
It's amazing how a film can lead us to question difficult decisions and empathize with complex characters. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
True. Gotta love this movie. ๐
I've only seen this movie once but your post reminded me that I forgot quite a bit of it. Will have to watch it again at some point. Thanks for the write up!
It was a nice movie. ๐
