Análisis del filme.

Así como lo menciona el título de esta producción, el contexto en donde se desarrolla esta trama es básicamente en los momentos finales de una sangrienta y devastadora guerra civil en Estados Unidos. No sabemos mucho, el filme arroja pistas de las facciones, pero no mucho sobre esta guerra.

Periodismo de guerra:

La trama se enfoca en un grupo de periodistas de guerras, personas que han visto muchas cosas con sus ojos, pero que lamentablemente ahora lo ven en carne viva desde su nación. La verdad es que tanto el contexto en que se desarrolla la trama como enfocarlo desde un punto de vista sobre la experiencia periodística resultan ser un acierto para la producción. Al principio pensaba que quizás no era el enfoque correcto debido al potencial que tiene el contexto de una guerra civil en Norteamérica; sin embargo, termina por funcionar, aunque posiblemente en el futuro veamos este mismo contexto desarrollado con otra trama muy distinta.

Etapas en la carrera periodística:

La trama nos muestra un conjunto de personajes, entre ellos, se ve reflejado todo lo que implica este tipo de periodismo en conflictos armados. El primer personaje está lleno de energía por captar imágenes y ser reconocida al igual que su heroína en este medio. Encuentra el valor suficiente como para aventurarse y en ocasiones, toma riesgos indebidos; sin embargo, comienza a ver imágenes que simplemente su mente y su estómago no soportan. Se impresiona al punto de una parálisis que puede hacer tomar decisiones erróneas. El filme se enfoca en que no cualquier persona puede soportar estar en este tipo de lugares.

El siguiente personaje se encuentra en el medio, quizás en el mejor momento de su carrera, sin embargo, las imágenes de sangre y muerte se convierten en un tormento cotidiano, el estrés postraumático que siente este personaje es significativo, haciendo una referencia de un desgaste mental a tal punto que poco puede soportar estar en medio de una batalla. Este personaje (lo tienen que descubrir) no desea que la joven sufra mentalmente lo que ella siente, por eso trata de ser dura con ella, para protegerla, como diciendo que se aleje de todo esto.

El tercer personaje se encuentra en el ocaso de su carrera, ya no puede hacer mucho para acercarse a hacer los reportajes en zonas de alto riesgo, sin embargo, trata de seguir haciendo lo que le apasiona. Este personaje es importante por la experiencia y cómo maneja las situaciones, inclusive en los diálogos se muestra como un puente entre las reporteras más jóvenes.

Este enfoque entre los personajes, no es algo novedoso; sin embargo, me pareció un condimento interesante en la trama, sobre todo, en una producción que busca el miedo a la anarquía total de una guerra, en donde no hay ley más que la defensa propia.

Opinión final.

Esta es una producción entretenida, en donde quizás no se explota por completo el potencial del argumento, pero que contiene una narrativa interesante desde un punto de vista psicológico, basado en las experiencias traumáticas, desde que comienzan a entrar en la cabeza hasta que se vuelve una película cotidiana en la mente, a tal punto de aceptar la realidad de que simplemente somos seres autodestructivos.

Desde mi punto de vista, el filme tiene varios aciertos, entre ellos, algunos efectos visuales interesantes y momentos con mucha tensión, que llega a recordar momentos de "The Purge", pero con un enfoque menos gore y más hacia los personajes.

¿La recomiendo?

Sí, es un filme que no defrauda, a pesar de que solo por el nombre y el contexto en que se desarrolla el argumento, se le tiende a exigir demasiado. Siento que es una producción entretenida y totalmente recomendada.

Surely this film will have been seen repeatedly after hearing these kinds of possibilities which, fortunately, did not become a reality.

Film Analysis.

As the title of this production mentions, the context in which this plot unfolds is basically the final moments of a bloody and devastating civil war in the United States. We don't know much, the film gives clues about the factions, but not much about this war.

War journalism:

The plot focuses on a group of war journalists, people who have seen many things with their eyes, but who unfortunately now see it in the flesh from their nation. The truth is that both the context in which the plot unfolds and the focus on the journalistic experience are a success for the production. At first I thought it might not be the right approach because of the potential of the context of a civil war in America; however, it ends up working, although we may see this same context developed with a very different plot in the future.

The plot shows us a set of characters, among them, we see reflected all that this kind of journalism in armed conflicts implies. The first character is full of energy to capture images and to be recognised like his heroine in this medium. She finds the courage to venture out and, at times, takes undue risks; however, she begins to see images that her mind and stomach simply cannot handle. He is shocked to the point of a paralysis that can lead to wrong decisions. The film focuses on the fact that not just anyone can handle being in these kinds of places.

The next character is in the middle, perhaps in the prime of his career, yet the images of blood and death become a daily torment, the post-traumatic stress this character feels is significant, referencing a mental toll to such an extent that he can hardly bear to be in the middle of a battle. This character (you have to find out) does not want the young woman to suffer mentally what she feels, so she tries to be tough with her, to protect her, as if to tell her to stay away from all this.

The third character is in the twilight of his career, he can no longer do much to get close to reporting in high-risk areas, but he tries to continue doing what he is passionate about. This character is important because of her experience and how she handles situations, even in the dialogues she is shown as a bridge between the younger reporters.

This approach between the characters is not something new; however, I found it an interesting spice in the plot, especially in a production that seeks the fear of total anarchy in a war, where there is no law but self-defence.

Final Opinion.

This is an entertaining production, where perhaps the potential of the plot is not fully exploited, but which contains an interesting narrative from a psychological point of view, based on traumatic experiences, from when they start to enter the head until it becomes an everyday movie in the mind, to the point of accepting the reality that we are simply self-destructive beings.

From my point of view, the film has several good points, among them, some interesting visual effects and moments with a lot of tension, reminiscent of ‘The Purge’, but with a less gore and more focus on the characters.

Do I recommend it?

Yes, it's a film that doesn't disappoint, despite the fact that just because of the name and the context in which the plot takes place, it tends to demand too much. I feel it is an entertaining production and totally recommended.
