My problem with "A Family Affair" | Movie Review
This was a movie I had left on my list to watch later and today I said that I had been waiting a long time, even though I hadn't seen it yet, things weren't going to turn out well.

That's all I'll say about the film's plot. Next up, I think for the first time in my life I'll go a little deeper into the review than usual, since I usually talk a lot about the plot and give my opinions here and there, but I almost never talk about the actors. This case warrants improving my reviews, lol.
I want to start by criticizing the film in general. It's not a film I would recommend because it doesn't live up to expectations. And by this, I mean that it's supposed to talk about the complexities of love, but it doesn't quite reach that point. The middle of the film has a rather bumpy start, I'd say. I don't feel like it manages to get into the true sentimental part of the film, so it lacks that aspect. In addition to all this, it ends up being more of the same. It's presented as if it's going to be something new and innovative, and unfortunately, it ends up being just like the rest of the romantic comedy films, a cliché.
Now, with the actors, from the first day I saw the film's cover featuring these three main characters—Zac Efron as Chris, Joey King as Zara, and Nicole Kidman as Brooke (Zara's mother)—I knew this wasn't going to go well because this cast doesn't look good together. They seem too forced. They're like artists I'd never put together in the same movie, and yet they did. It's worth noting that I have nothing against any of the actors, but seeing them together in the same movie feels a bit strange to me; it's as if they've taken someone else's roles.
Let's start with Nicole Kidman. I really have almost nothing bad to say about this actress. On the contrary, no matter what context you put her in, she looks elegant and up to par as Zara's mother, and she plays her role well. But when we see the scenes where she interacts with Chris, it's noticeable that she lacks a bit of authentic naturalness.
Joey King, I like the energy she has in films. She plays frustrated teenagers well, although in this film, her role is a bit more adult. I don't know how to explain this, but Joey gives me the feeling she doesn't feel right in that role.
Zac Efron is everything that's wrong with this film, forgive me, Zac. His performance comes across as rather superficial, which is exactly the role, but as the film progresses, it's supposed to take on a different direction and gain more depth. This never happened. His relationship with Brooke (Nicole Kidman) feels quite fake and awkward, as if he never took the film and the message it was trying to convey completely seriously. Another thing that unfortunately drew all the attention was the actor's appearance, as his face looks different. The actor commented that this was because he suffered a jaw injury and had to be completely reconstructed and that's why he looks different, however, I admit that it is an aspect that drew quite a bit of attention, since many people knew the artist's old face before his accident and it looks quite different now. On the other hand, I think that perhaps they should have placed another actor for the role of Chris, perhaps this would have changed the perception of the film a little.
Esto es todo lo qué diré de la trama de la película, a continuación creo que por primera vez en mi vida ahondaré un poco más en la reseña que lo de costumbre, ya que yo suelo hablar mucho de la trama y dar uno que otro comentario de mi opinión pero casi nunca hablo de los actores pero este caso amerita que mejore mis reviews, lol.
Quiero empezar criticando la película en general, no es una película que yo recomendaría porque no supera las expectativas de lo que te prometen. Y con esto quiero decir, que se supone que habla de las complejidades del amor pero no logra llegar a ese punto exactamente, la mitad de la película tiene un comienzo bastante y hasta accidentado diría yo, no siento que se logre entrar en la verdadera parte sentimental de la película, por lo que carece de este aspecto, además de todo esto se debe sumar a que termina siendo más de lo mismo, se presenta como si va a ser algo nuevo e innovador y lamentable termina siendo igual que el resto de las películas de comedia romántica, un cliché.
Ahora con los actores, yo desde el primer día que vi la portada de la película con estos tres personajes principales. Zac Efron como Chris, Joey King como Zara y Nicole Kidman como Brooke (mamá de Zara), supe que esto no iba a ir bien porque este cast no se ve bien juntos, parecen demasiados forzados, son como los artistas que yo nunca pondría juntos en la misma película y sin embargo lo hicieron, cabe resaltar que no tengo nada en contra de ninguno de los actores pero verlos juntos en una misma película se me hace algo extraño, es como si hubieran tomado los roles de alguien más.
Empezamos por Nicole Kidman, realmente de esta actriz no tengo casi nada malo para decir, al contrario, no importa en que contexto la coloquen, ella se ve elegante y a la altura como madre de Zara interpreta bien su papel pero cuando vemos las escenas donde se relaciona con Chris se nota que falta un poco de naturalidad autentica.
Joey King, me gusta la energía que tiene en las películas, a ella le quedan bien los papeles de adolescente frustrada, aunque en esta película ya es un poco más adulta su rol. No sé cómo explicar esto, pero Joey me da una sensación de que no se siente bien en ese papel.
Zac Efron es todo lo que está mal en esta película, perdóname Zac. Su actuación se nota bastante superficial que así es el papel pero se supone que a medida que avanza la película esto toma otro rumbo y tiene más profundidad, esto nunca sucedió, su relación con Brooke (Nicole Kidman) se siente bastante falsa e incómoda, como sí él nunca se hubiera tomado completamente en serio la película y el mensaje qué quería transmitir. Otro cosa que lamentablemente desvió toda la atención fue el aspecto del actor, pues su rostro se ve diferente, el actor comentó que esto se debió a que sufrió una lesión en la mandíbula y tuve que ser totalmente reconstruida y por eso se ve diferente, sin embargo, admito que sí es un aspecto que desvió bastante la atención, ya que muchas personas conocían el antiguo rostro del artista antes de su accidente y se ve bastante diferente ahora. Por otro lado, considero que quizás debieron colocar a otro actor para el papel de Chris, quizá esto hubiera cambiado un poco la percepción de la película.
I also wasn't impressed…I expected it to be better. I fell asleep during half of the movie, so I wouldn't recommend it either. ;)
Yeah, kinda boring for me!
