[Movie review] [Eng | Esp] Ritual | The call of boredom
Welcome my dear internet travelers and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, at this point it has already become clear that I am a horror lover and many times I get carried away by the covers of movies without taking into account the synopsis or anything like it, this is exactly what happened to me with “Ritual” for which I don't need to read anything to give it a chance. Without further ado, get ready for the occult because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, a estas alturas ya ha quedado claro que soy un amante del terror y muchas veces me dejo llevar por las portadas de las películas sin tomar en cuenta la sinopsis ni nada que se le asemeje, esto es exactamente lo que me pasó con “Ritual” para la que no necesite leer nada para darle una oportunidad. Sin más que agregar prepárense para el ocultismo pues estamos por comenzar.
Ritual was released in 2013, directed by Mickey Keating, produced by EBF Productions and After Dark Films, and has a duration of 1 hour and 29 minutes. It is a horror film. The story focuses on Tom, a married man who is driving in the middle of nowhere, as a result of his wife calling him begging him to come help her, when he arrives at a motel forgotten by time he realizes that his wife is in crisis to the point that she does not want to open the door to his room, then some persuasion allows him to enter, so that he finds 2 terrible things, the first is that his wife was about to cheat on him and the second is that he had stabbed the guy for some reason, this whole disconcerting situation will only get more complicated when a certain satanic cult gets involved.
Ritual fue estrenada en 2013, dirigida por Mickey Keating, producida por EBF Productions y After Dark Films, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 29 minutos. Es un filme de terror, la historia se centra en Tom un hombre casado que se encuentra conduciendo en mitad de la nada, producto de que su esposa le llamo rogándole que fuese a ayudarla, cuando llega a un motel olvidado por el tiempo se da cuenta de que su esposa se encuentra en crisis al punto de que no quiere abrirle la puerta de la habitación, después algo de persuasión le permite entrar, para que este se encuentre con 2 cosas terribles, la primera es que su esposa estaba a punto de engañarlo y la segunda es que había apuñalado al sujeto por algún motivo, toda esta situación tan desconcertante solo se complicará más cuando cierto culto satánico se involucre.

The soundtrack is surprisingly good, on more than one occasion it knows how to generate a certain level of intrigue and manages to germinate a certain degree of uncertainty in the viewer, unfortunately this will be the only section that I will praise.
La banda sonora es sorprendentemente buena, en más de una ocasión esta sabe generar cierto nivel de intriga y logra germinar cierto grado de incertidumbre en el espectador, lamentablemente este será el único apartado que elogiaré.
The construction of the world is boring, it does not use anything interesting, most of the film takes place in a hotel room with nothing notable in terms of setting, the rest of the film takes place in a dark setting that lacks anything visually attractive.
La construcción del mundo es aburrida, no hace uso de nada interesante, la mayor parte del filme se desarrolla en una habitación de hotel sin nada destacable a nivel de ambientación, el resto de la cinta transcurre en un escenario oscuro que carece de cualquier cosa visualmente atractiva.
The plot is vomitingly slow, more than half of the film has absolutely nothing interesting, it is a constant chatter and whining that leads to nothing, it seems that it only aims to bore the viewer as much as possible, when the film decides to introduce something moderately interesting, this does not fulfill its purpose, so the film remains absolutely insipid. Narratively there is nothing to mention, the only thing that the film successfully achieves is that you get bored of the protagonists and that they dislike you. How tedious it was to watch this, I'm telling you that for almost 1 hour nothing interesting happened, I was falling asleep watching it but the protagonist's whining woke me up, like icing on the cake, it doesn't have any scary scenes as such, so A lot of it has the occasional moment with strange music that is a little uncomfortable, but not much more.
La trama es vomitivamente lenta, más de la mitad del filme no tiene absolutamente nada interesante, es un constante parloteo y lloriqueo que no lleva a nada, parece que solo tiene como objetivo aburrir al espectador tanto como sea posible, cuando la cinta decide introducir algo medianamente interesante esto no cumple su cometido por lo que la película continua absolutamente insípida. Narrativamente no hay nada que mencionar, lo único que el filme logra con éxito es que te aburras de los protagonistas y que caigan mal. Que tedioso fue ver esto, les hablo de que por casi 1 hora no pasó nada interesante, me estaba quedando dormido viéndola pero me despertaban los lloriqueos de la protagonista, como cereza sobre el pastel, no tiene ninguna escena de miedo como tal, a lo mucho tiene uno que otro momento con música extraña que incomoda un poco, pero no mucho más.
What a pain in the ass the protagonists are, they are completely insufferable, Tom is an idiot who commits stupidity after stupidity, it even seems like he does it on purpose, it's very annoying, on the other hand, there's his wife, who spends the entire damn movie whining God, what an annoying thing, I have never wanted so much for a character to be killed so that he would stop being so insufferable.
Qué dolor de cojones son los protagonistas, son completamente insufribles, Tom es un imbécil que comete idiotez tras idiotez, incluso parece que lo hace a propósito, es muy molesto, por otro lado, está su esposa, la cual dura toda la maldita película lloriqueando, Dios, qué cosa tan molesta, nunca había deseado tanto que matasen a un personaje para que dejase de ser tan insufrible.
Ritual is one of the most boring things I've seen this year, it doesn't have a single bit of fun or any interesting moment, it's completely insipid, its greatest achievement is that you dislike the protagonist for being more annoying than a pimple on the rear. It is for all the above that it deserves 1 star out of 7, this crap does not even serve as a sleeping pill because the stupid protagonist will keep you awake with her constant whining.
Ritual es una de las cosas más aburridas que haya visto este año, no tiene ni una pizca de gracia o de algún momento interesante, es completamente insípida, su mayor logro es que le tengas desagrado a la protagonista por ser más molesta que un grano en el trasero. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 1 estrella de 7, esta porquería no sirve ni siquiera como somnífero porque la estúpida protagonista te quitará el sueño con sus constantes lloriqueos.
