[Movie review] [Eng | Esp] Flashback | Remembering something can change Everything
Welcome my dear internet travellers and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, although it seems ironic I don't remember how I ended up with the tape that brings us together today, I just started watching it yesterday without notions of what it was about or anything like it, I only knew its name "Flashback" intuiting that it could be something related to memories and the mind. Without further ado, prepare to remember a few things as we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros recordadores del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, pese a que parezca irónico no recuerdo cómo fui a parar con la cinta que hoy nos reúne, simplemente comencé a verla ayer sin nociones de que trataba ni nada que se le asemeje, solo conocía su nombre "Flashback" intuyendo que podría ser algo relacionado con los recuerdos y la mente. Sin más que añadir prepárense para recordar algunas cosas pues estamos por comenzar.

It is a mystery film, the story focuses on Fred an ordinary man who has just moved with his wife and got a new job, in turn, he is facing different situations as a result of the changes that his life is having, all of the above begins to go wrong when he begins to have very vivid memories about his time in high school, About the stupid things he did, and, above all, a particular companion of whom he does not know what has become of his life, the presence of this young woman in his mind without explanation begins to make everything go downhill.

Es un filme de misterio, la historia se centra en Fred un hombre común que se acaba de mudar con su esposa y de conseguir un nuevo trabajo, a su vez, este se encuentra afrontando diferentes situaciones producto de los cambios que está teniendo su vida, todo lo anterior empieza torcerse cuando empiece a tener recuerdos muy vividos sobre su tiempo en la secundaria, sobre las cosas estúpidas que hizo, y, sobre todo, una compañera en particular de la cual no sabe que ha sido de su vida, la presencia de esta joven en su mente sin explicación comienza a hacer que todo se torne cuesta abajo.

The soundtrack is mostly composed of sounds, moans and unintelligible things, in another context this would be a mistake but taking into account that mysterious and chaotic theme that the film has, these fit like a glove.
La banda sonora está compuesta mayormente por sonidos, gemidos y cosas ininteligibles, en otro contexto esto sería un error pero tomando en cuenta esa temática tanto misteriosa como caótica que tiene el filme estos quedan como anillo al dedo.
The construction of the world plays an important role within the film, it is constantly changing between the past and the present, being that both are providing elements that make it possible to understand the plot, in addition, they have a difference in their lights and scenery that gives a certain character to each of these, all this approach that is given to the setting makes it feel interesting and with a value within the film. the narrative.
La construcción de mundo juega un papel importante dentro del filme, constantemente se está cambiando entre el pasado y el presente, siendo que ambos van aportando elementos que posibilitan el entendimiento de la trama, además, estos cuentan con una diferencia en sus luces y escenografía que les da cierto carácter a cada uno de estos, todo este enfoque que se le da a la ambientación la hace sentir interesante y con un valor dentro de la narrativa.
The plot reminded me a lot of quantum superposition (It's a very interesting topic if you like physics) and uses that parallelism to give the film a good dose of mystery that is worked in a good way as a focus of interest, at the same time, it gives a moderately decent exploration to what conditions its world. The complex resolved narrative since it demands a good dose of attention so that you can understand the different turns it is taking, this is mostly denoted with the changes it is making between past and present which provide data that facilitate understanding and make you doubt about the sanity of the protagonist, In addition to the above, there is another theme related to the characters that I find interesting and that I will return to later. The length of the film is fine, the film has a progressive advance that allows speculation about what is happening and why it is happening, being that all these doubts are dispelled little by little throughout the film.
La trama me recordó en gran medida a la superposición cuántica (Es un tema muy interesante por si les gusta la física) y utiliza ese paralelismo para dotar al filme de una buena dosis de misterio que se trabaja de buena forma como un foco de interés, a su vez, se le da una exploración medianamente decente a lo que condiciona su mundo. La narrativa resuelta compleja puesto que está exige una buena dosis de atención para que se pueda comprender los diferentes giros que está va dando, esto se denota mayormente con los cambios que va haciendo entre pasado y presente los cuales aportan datos que facilitan la comprensión y que te hacen dudar sobre la cordura del protagonista, aunado a lo anterior, hay otro tema relacionado con los personajes que me parece interesante y que retomaré más adelante. La duración del filme está bien, la cinta tiene un avance progresivo que posibilita la especulación sobre qué está pasando y porque está pasando, siendo que todas estas dudas van siendo disipadas poco a poco a lo largo de la película.
The protagonist has a good background because it explores what he was and what he is, this in itself makes him interesting, the problem with this is that outside of his predicament he has no development being a complete unknown, the viewer should only assume that he does what he does by inertia, This leaves a strange duality because his predicament is very captivating but the fact that little is known about him detracts from his value, evidently they try to convey the message that he is an ordinary person, however even ordinary individuals have personality, this fact makes it difficult for you to empathize with him; This also happens with the co-star, but in a worse way because she has less exposure, so she ends up being an unknown who is supposed to matter. There is this message that the best option is not always to sacrifice everything for someone else because you can see how the protagonist leaves everything for the girl and does not look happy at any time, denoting the importance that sacrifices must be made for the right person and these will not be seen as such in that case.
El protagonista tiene un buen trasfondo debido a que se explora lo que fue y lo que es, esto de por sí ya lo hace interesante, el problema con este es que fuera de su predicamento este no tiene desarrollo siendo un completo desconocido, el espectador solo debe asumir que hace lo que hace por inercia, esto deja una dualidad extraña debido a que su predicamento es muy atrapante pero el hecho de que se sepa poco de él le resta valor, evidentemente se intenta transmitir el mensaje que es una persona común, no obstante hasta los individuos comunes tienen personalidad, este hecho hace que te sea difícil empatizar con él; lo anterior también sucede con la coprotagonista pero de peor forma debido a que tiene menos exposición por lo que termina siendo una desconocida que se supone debe de importar. Existe este mensaje de que no siempre la mejor opción es sacrificar todo por alguien más debido a que se nota como el protagonista deja todo por la chica y no se le ve feliz en ningún momento, denotando la importancia de que los sacrificios deben hacerse por la persona correcta y estos no se verán como tal en dicho caso.
Flashback weighs an interesting idea about the meaning of memories and time, this makes it easy to keep attention on this premise, however its successes are the same as its failures, being in this case its empty protagonist who is never explored or anything that resembles it, this is quite serious taking into account that empathizing with the latter is a fundamental point for the film to make sense. It is for all the above that it deserves 3 stars out of 7, I thought it was a curious film although I would have liked the protagonist to have a minimum of development so that he did not look like a mannequin, in the same way I recommend watching it for the rest of the sections that are very curious.
Flashback sopesa una idea interesante sobre el significado de los recuerdos y del tiempo, esto hace que sea fácil mantener la atención sobre dicha premisa, sin embargo sus aciertos son iguales que sus fallos, siendo en este caso su protagonista vacío que nunca es explorado ni nada que se le asemeje, esto es bastante grave tomando en cuenta que el empatizar con este último es un punto fundamental para que el filme tenga sentido. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 3 estrellas de 7, me pareció una película curiosa aunque me hubiese gustado que el protagonista tuviese un mínimo de desarrollo para que no pareciese un maniquí, de igual forma recomiendo verla por el resto de apartados que son muy curiosos.
