La película parece tres películas diferentes todas mezcladas, está la historia de redención personal de Michael que intenta demostrar su valor tras sus fracasos pasados, el intenso drama deportivo de la carrera en sí con todos sus desafíos físicos y el equipo y por último la conmovedora historia de Arthur, el perro callejero maltratado que de alguna manera consigue seguir al equipo durante cientos de kilómetros, aunque las tres tramas se pueden ver por separado no siempre encajan a la perfección. La carrera en sí es brutal es un viaje de 5 a 10 días que cubre 700 kilómetros a través de algunos de los terrenos más desafiantes, la primera etapa es una caminata de 38 kilómetros a través de una jungla sin un camino establecido, a medida que el equipo avanza se encuentran con un perro callejero en una de sus paradas y Michael que dice no ser una persona de perros le da comida y para su sorpresa el perro los sigue durante cientos de kilómetros así que Michael lo llama Arthur y el perro se convierte en un quinto miembro no oficial del equipo.

Mark Wahlberg es Michael Light y tiene un papel muy conmovedor, consigue transmitir la transformación de Michael de forma convincente, empieza como un hombre obsesionado con ganar a toda costa y evoluciona hasta convertirse en alguien que puede reconocer el valor de la compasión y la conexión por encima de los trofeos y los elogios, Simu Liu es Leo un influencer de las redes sociales con un resentimiento personal, es algo narcisista pero se convierte en un valioso miembro del equipo que deja de lado su ego por el bien común, Nathalie Emmanuel como Olivia y Ali Suliman como Chik hacen lo que pueden sus personajes no están tan desarrollados y la verdadera estrella es el perro que interpreta a Arthur, desde su primera aparición como un perro callejero sarnoso y maltratado hasta su transformación en un querido miembro del equipo el viaje de Arthur es lo más convincente de la película.

Aunque Arthur the King sea algo predecible llegó a sorprenderme por toda la combinación que tiene, la historia del equipo que se enfrenta a dificultades imposibles, el vínculo humano con un animal callejero y el momento de crisis en el que todo parece perdido antes del triunfo final, lo que no me gustó fue el guion que se ve como algo muy preparado en vez de natural el desarrollo de los personajes se explica a través del diálogo en lugar de demostrarse a través de acciones, por ejemplo las preocupaciones de Olivia sobre su padre las explica Michael en lugar de mostrarlas desde su perspectiva. Lo mejor de la película es la relación entre Michael y Arthur resulta bastante conmovedor ver a este hombre que ha pasado su vida persiguiendo la gloria personal abrir su corazón a este perro callejero que no pide nada a cambio pero que muestra una lealtad increíble.

El final de Arthur es emocionante, después de que el equipo completa la carrera con Arthur se enfrentan a un nuevo reto y es la salud de Arthur que aunque ya demostró una resistencia increíble al seguir al equipo durante cientos de kilómetros a través de terrenos difíciles sufre heridas e infecciones y su salud está delicada, Michael trata de que Arthur reciba la atención médica adecuada y se enfrenta a los desafíos burocráticos de llevar un perro callejero de República Dominicana a Estados Unidos. A lo largo de la película, Michael ha estado obsesionado con cruzar la línea de meta primero y demostrar que es un campeón, pero a través de su experiencia con Arthur, llega a comprender que hay victorias más importantes que los logros deportivos, como dice su esposa la línea de meta mágica no tiene que ver con trofeos o reconocimiento sino con las conexiones que establecemos y la compasión que mostramos. La toma final del verdadero Michael (el corredor de aventuras sueco cuya historia inspiró la película) y el verdadero Arthur dan un final satisfactorio que nos recuerda que esta extraordinaria historia sucedió realmente y esto la hace más impactante, lo que más me gustó de la película fue su mensaje sobre la redefinición del éxito y la victoria, yo le doy un 7.5/10.

Mark Wahlberg is Michael Light and he has a very moving role, he manages to convey Michael's transformation convincingly, he starts out as a man obsessed with winning at all costs and evolves into someone who can recognize the value of compassion and connection over trophies and accolades, Simu Liu is Leo a social media influencer with a personal grudge, he's a bit of a narcissist but becomes a valuable member of the team who puts his ego aside for the common good, Nathalie Emmanuel as Olivia and Ali Suliman as Chik do what they can, their characters are not so developed and the real star is the dog who plays Arthur, from his first appearance as a mangy, abused stray to his transformation into a beloved member of the team, Arthur's journey is the most compelling part of the film.

Although Arthur and the Invisibles is somewhat predictable, it still managed to surprise me because of the combination of the story of a team facing impossible difficulties, the human bond with a stray animal and the moment of crisis when all seems lost before the final triumph, what I didn't like was the script which comes across as very rehearsed rather than natural the development of the characters is explained through dialogue rather than demonstrated through actions, for example Michael explains Olivia's concerns about her father rather than showing them from his perspective. The best thing about the film is the relationship between Michael and Arthur.
