Deadstream/ Urbex 2022 Movie review

As you already know me well, you know that I like Found footage films, they are always more able to draw me into a given story by their naturalness and give that pinch of authenticity, even if it is stretched, the style makes me curious.

Urbex is one of those hand-held films that fits into the horror framework, where you will either like it or turn it off immediately.

The film is a combination of comedy and horror mocking the conventions of handheld films as well as haunted locations.
The main character is an influencer and stremer, his content is based on various challenges he undertakes for viewers and sponsors in order to have cash, but his last rather significant slip-up limits his presence in the media (ban on the platform) Upon his return, he decides to spend the night in a haunted place.

We accompany the hero when he arrives at a mysterious cabin in the woods. There he tells the story of it and where the ghostly tale came from. With every minute, something unexplained begins to happen, and the main character here behaves very rationally, and thanks to this the comedy here is very palpable.

The film largely takes familiar themes from horror movies and mixes them in a rather interesting way. Here we have Evil Dead, Night of the Living Dead and, of course, The Blair Witch Project or a slight reference to the game Resident Evil 7.

Horror is interestingly realized here, even though we know it's a comedy, the suspense that accompanies it makes you scared several times.
The scenery is mega interestingly done abandoned closed house, with creaking stairs and everything shot from hand and something that threatens the protagonist.

Urbex also pokes fun at all the ghost-related reality shows and here our hero has a ton of equipment only to find it of little use.

If you like comedies of errors and typical slipstick, there is a lot of that here despite the fact that it is in a sense a one-man movie, not counting the side characters;)

Most importantly, the film does not bore, the story goes on in such a way that the protagonist and the viewer is constantly surprised by something, and always after the scarier scene enters a comedy to lighten the atmosphere.

I liked the film, I strongly doubted that in these times it is possible to operate comedy and horror in a nice way, and here it succeeded, in my opinion, very well.

I wrote at the beginning that you will either like it or turn it off, as the style and narration can be quite significant for many, as the story here is always steered so that the viewer feels that he or she is just in "that place with the protagonist" not everyone likes this type of play, so it may turn some viewers off.

In my opinion this is one of the better comedy and horror films and even more so one of the better ones combining the two genres in the form of handheld filming.
8/10 I recommend seeing it, if you like horror movies you will find a lot of familiar themes or references in it, and even a slight mockery of musical themes.

Jak dobrze mnie już znacie to wiecie, ze lubię filmy Found footage, zawsze bardziej potrafią mnie wciagnac w dana historie przez swoją naturalność i dają ta szczyptę autentyzmu, nawet jeśli jest ona naciągana to styl powoduje, ze jestem zaciekawiony.

Urbex to jeden właśnie z tych filmów kręconych z reki wpisuje się w ramy horroru, gdzie albo go polubicie albo wylaczycie od razu.

Film jest połączeniem komedii i horroru wyśmiewająca konwencje filmów z reki jak i nawiedzonych miejsc.
Główny bohater jest influencerem i stremerem, jego kontent opiera się różne wyzwania których się podejmuje dla widzów i sponsorów by mieć kasę, jednak ostatnia dość znacząca jego wpadka ogranicza jego obecność w mediach (ban na platformie) Po powrocie postanawia spędzić noc w nawiedzonym miejscu.

Towarzyszujemy bohaterowi kiedy dociera do tajemniczego domku w lesie. Tam tez opowiada historie tego i skąd wzięła się upiorna opowieść. Z każda minuta, zaczyna się dziać coś niewyjaśnionego, a główny bohater zachowuje się tutaj bardzo racjonalnie i dzięki temu komedia jest tutaj bardzo namacalna

Film w dużej mierze bierze znane motywy z horrorów i je miksuje w dość interesujący sposób. Mamy tutaj Evil Dead, Noc żywych Trupow i oczywiście The Blair Witch Project czy lekkie nawiązanie do gry Resident Evil 7.

Horror jest tutaj ciekawie zrealizowany mimo ze wiemy ze to komedia to napięcie jakie towarzyszy powoduje ze można się wystraszyć kilka razy.
Scenografia jest mega ciekawie zrobiona opuszczony zamknięty dom, z skrzypiącym schodami a wszystko kręcone z reki i czymś co zagraża bohaterowi.

Urbex wyśmiewa tez wszystkie reality show związane z duchami i tutaj tez nasz bohater ma tonę sprzętu tylko po to by się okazała mało użyteczna.

Jeśli lubicie komedie pomyłek i typowy slipstick to jest tutaj tego bardzo dużo mimo ze jest to w pewnym sensie jednoosobowy film, nie licząc postacie poboczne;)

Co najważniejsze film nie nudzi, historia toczy się tak by bohater i widz był cały czas czymś zaskakiwany oraz zawsze po straszniejsze scenie wchodzi komediowa by rozluźnić atmosferę.

Film mi się podobał, mocno wątpiłem w to, ze w tych czasach można fajnie operować komedia i horrorem, a tutaj się udało to moim zdaniem świetnie.

Moim zdaniem to jeden z lepszych filmów komediowych i horror a tym bardziej jeden z lepszych łączących dwa gatunki w formie kręcenia z reki.
8/10 ja polecam zobaczyć, jeśli lubicie horrory dużo w tym odnajdziecie znanych motywów czy nawiązań, a nawet lekkie wyśmiewanie motywów muzycznych.
