MUTATION ZERO: THE LAST AND FINAL PROJECT OF GRADE 11 STEM
Hi, Hive! I hope everyone's doing well.
This blog is all about MUTATION ZERO: THE LAST AND FINAL PROJECT OF GRADE 11 STEM
MUTATION ZERO
That is the title of our film. Basically, it's about three researchers (one girl and two boys) who were working on a project, but suddenly, they created a virus that can mutate a person's genes. The two boy researchers tried to stop the female researcher, but she didn’t stop at all. Eventually, she killed one of them, and the other turned into a zombie.
The zombie researcher escaped the laboratory and went to the cafeteria—and that’s where the story really began.
The story ended with the girl researcher admitting to the survivors that she was the reason behind the virus. Everyone was shocked, and just then, they heard the sound of a helicopter. They thought they were going to be saved, but to prevent the virus from spreading, the entire school was bombed.
The name of the virus is CALD-24. “CAL” stands for the initials of our teacher, while “D-24” stands for Descartes Batch 2024–2025.
SCRIPTWRITING
I also helped write the script for our film. Our teacher gave us the freedom to do whatever we wanted in our film and to use the language/dialect that we wanted to use. Since we are Cebuanos and we are all comfortable speaking English, we decided to use Bisaya and English.
Writing the script is not easy. It was actually stressful. There are many of us writing the script, so our writing styles did not match with each other. But, thankfully it went well. We decided to make some changes while filming and it even made the whole film better.
FILMING
The filming process itself is very stressful. We had to change the script a little bit and ask permission everywhere we wanted to film. Plus, it is so sunny, that I almost fainted because of the heat.
We had to film in the cafeteria, library, laboratory, and hallways.
Cafeteria (It was so gloomy and hot in the cafeteria)
Charles, the one lying down, had to pretend to sleep for 30 minutes.
Library
Jam looks so tired
Hallway
There was one time that a teacher scolded us about how messy the hallway was, but we explained everything to the teacher and she said that it was okay as long as we cleaned it after filming.
BECOMING A ZOMBIE
I was really afraid to be a zombie because I already knew that tons of makeup would be put on my face and I am very uncomfortable with makeup. But, I didn't have a choice. So I conquered my fear and tried being a zombie for two days.
Now, I regret my decision. My acne breakout is insane. I forgot that my skin is so sensitive to makeup.
THE MAKEUP
Our make-up artist is really talented and she is also my classmate. She volunteered to do the makeup of all the zombies. I like her make-up style so much.
Being a zombie isn't easy. My dignity went low while filming because we had to film with lots of fellow students watching us. But, it's okay. I'm just a student after all. Grades Over Dignity.
Overall, it was a stressful yet fun experience. I love how me and my classmates still had fun and laugh all our stress away. Without them, this project would be not be fun at all. I will miss them so much. I hope all of us will reach all our individual dreams and succeed in life. The bond that we shared while filming this project is the most memorable ever. I love them so much.
