@ecency-star released a prompt asking us to talk about 'Our Favourite Netflix Movie,' and I thought it would be a good chance to chat about something, as I've been wanting to get into watching some movies over the last few weeks because it's been a while since I watched a film.

Here's A Link To The Post If You'd Like To Get Involved.

Never Anything To Watch
I find with Netflix, I can sometimes be stuck for an idea for something to see, and I have a list of recommendations from friends, which is the length of my arm. For some reason, whenever I'm told about a film I seem to store the information and then forget the moment I pick up the remote.

The awkward encounter when I'm asked if I've seen something, and have to admit I haven't, even though they've been raving about it for a few weeks. There is also an even more awkward situation I've been in when I've actually suggested a movie to a mate, which they already suggested to me months prior to me coming across it.

That reminds me, I was talking to a guy I got on well with who ran a pub here in town, the place is called Whistlers, and he was talking about doing a gig for the square on their roof during the summer, and we ended up organising it a bit and I got the lads involved to play it. After the posters were released I was down there having a drink and told him that I had a great name for it,

"Hey man, we could call the event Whistler on the Roof," I started laughing as he shook his head and replied, "Did you just suggest my name back to me? Did you not see the posters?"

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
I thought - rather than choose a random film that's up on Netflix currently - I'd go for a Netflix original for my submission and to top pick for me of films they've released - that I've seen - has to be The Ballad of Bust Scruggs, but The Cohen Brothers.

I'm a fan of a lot of their films, and this one has witty dialogue, funny and memorable characters, backgrounds to get lost in, and interesting attention to detail which is present in any of their other films.

This film is very unique in the setting and tone, it's a Western film, and it feels gritty and real - as a good Western should - while also being lighthearted and funny, which almost leads to shock when something serious takes place.

It's an Anthology in a way, made up of multiple separate smaller stories, without an overarching narrative. I love how each story starts like the opening of a chapter of a book. It is really well done, and of the stories themselves each one is interesting and thought-provoking and there really is something for everyone in this.

Opinions May Vary
My partner and I sat down to watch this before, and she hated it from the start and I think fell asleep at around the midway point, but I was enthralled and carried on watching it, as I just loved the idea of essentially short films being put together to make up the run time of a feature film.

It's well worth checking out, however, based on her thoughts, maybe it isn't for everyone. The first story is kind of strange and is essentially the most surreal story in the entire movie, so if you watch that one don't be thrown off if you find it jarring.

I really enjoyed this one, and think it is well worth giving a chance. Especially if you like Westerns with a bit of humor, although, dark humor at that.

So good man, I really enjoyed it. Which was your favourite story? For me, I think the prospector was brilliant.

Maybe you've seen The Sister Brothers? I watched the two of them films at around the same time and thought they were great.

Hahaha, so cool man, I'll have to watch it again someday as it's been a while.

I think today would be a good day for a film, I'm ruined since last night, it was my 30th birthday party so we went a bit hard, haha even smoked a few joints for the first time in a good while, but the drinking man, I had a stupid amount of pints and shots.
