Halloween me gusta por la cantidad de películas de terror que hay en la historia, eso es un hecho, pero si hablamos de festividades, mi época favorita es la navidad. Diciembre me encanta por su aire, vibra y tradición, que juntas hacen del último mes del año algo tan entrañable como nostálgico y ameno, y, obvio, también, lleno de películas, algunas peores que otras. Aunque es cierto que las películas de navidad no tienen tanta calidad como las de terror, hay varias películas navideñas que me parecen parte de la historia, porque al ser películas (casi siempre) para toda la familia, buscan entregar un mensaje hermoso, lleno de paz y de felicidad, siendo estas películas parte de mí y de mi infancia, por lo que ahora, empezando diciembre, tengo que hacer al menos un top sobre mis películas favoritas de navidad:

I like Halloween because of the amount of horror movies in history, that's a fact, but if we talk about festivities, my favorite time of the year is Christmas. I love December for its air, vibe and tradition, which together make the last month of the year as endearing as it is nostalgic and enjoyable, and, obviously, also full of movies, some worse than others. Although it is true that Christmas movies do not have as much quality as horror movies, there are several Christmas movies that seem to me part of history, because being movies (almost always) for the whole family, they seek to deliver a beautiful message, full of peace and happiness, being these movies part of me and my childhood, so now, starting December, I have to make at least a top about my favorite Christmas movies:
Klauss
Siempre, en serio, SIEMPRE digo que mi forma favorita de contar una historia es la animación, y la animación de Klauss es una preciosura que me hace feliz solamente recordar. Una película de netflix que va acerca de un cartero que es enviado a un lugar dónde la gente no se envía cartas, termina siendo una hermosa historia que habla del perdón, de la reconciliación, la amabilidad y los buenos valores, ¿y qué es la navidad si no eso? El espíritu de la navidad se muestra en esta película que no solo deja un mensaje hermoso para los más pequeños, sino que también nos cuenta la historia del origen del mito de santa Claus y porque entrega regalos. Una historia hermosa y llena de creatividad que es perfecta para ver en familia, con un dibujo precioso y de corta duración.
Klauss
I always, seriously, ALWAYS say that my favorite way to tell a story is animation, and Klauss' animation is a beauty that makes me happy just to remember. A netflix movie that is about a mailman who is sent to a place where people don't send letters to each other, ends up being a beautiful story that talks about forgiveness, reconciliation, kindness and good values, and what is Christmas if not that? The spirit of Christmas is shown in this film that not only leaves a beautiful message for the little ones, but also tells the story of the origin of the myth of Santa Claus and why he delivers gifts. A beautiful story full of creativity that is perfect to watch with the family, with a beautiful drawing and short duration.
Los que se quedan
La textura. Si algo recuerdo de esta película hermosa que tengo que recomendarle a todos, es la textura. Y no me malinterpreten, la película es perfecta en todo sentido, tanto así, que si ganaba a mejor película en los Oscars no me hubiese molestado, y es que la fotografía, las actuaciones, sus personajes y la vibra que transmite toda la película da justo en el punto, y esto es en parte también por la decisión de editar la película con una textura tan característica, que la hace parecer una película de los setenta remasterizada, como algo inédito que se grabó hace años y se pudo recuperar, como una joya perdida en el tiempo. Esta es una película que estoy seguro me voy a repetir este diciembre y posiblemente todos los diciembres que siguen hasta cansarme, y si no la has visto, esta es la señal.
The Holdovers
The texture. If there's one thing I remember about this beautiful film that I have to recommend to everyone, it's the texture. And don't get me wrong, the film is perfect in every way, so much so, that if it won Best Picture at the Oscars I wouldn't have minded, and the cinematography, the performances, the characters and the vibe that the whole film transmits is right on point, and this is also partly due to the decision to edit the film with such a characteristic texture, that makes it look like a remastered film from the seventies, like something unreleased that was recorded years ago and could be recovered, like a jewel lost in time. This is a film that I am sure I will repeat this December and possibly every December that follows until I get tired of it, and if you haven't seen it, this is the signal.
El Grinch
Entre tantos clásicos que nos ha traído el cine navideño, es imposible no mencionar al menos uno en un top de películas para esta época. Tal vez el grinch no sea la mejor película de navidad, pero de mi infancia si es mi favorita, y es que la actuación de Jim Carrey junto con el maquillaje y el diseño de producción de esta película (además de la mascota del grinch) hacen que esta película este en mi corazón desde que era pequeño. Un clásico que más que recomendar, menciono para rendir homenaje.
The Grinch
Among so many classics that Christmas movies have brought us, it is impossible not to mention at least one in a top movie for this season. The Grinch may not be the best Christmas movie, but from my childhood it is my favorite, and Jim Carrey's performance along with the makeup and production design of this film (in addition to the Grinch's mascot) make this movie be in my heart since I was a child. A classic that more than recommending, I mention to pay tribute.
