Ayer me junté con mis amigos para ver Beetlejuice. Ya que está por estrenarse la segunda parte, decidimos ver la primera (yo, volver a ver, ellos, verla por primera vez) para tener la mente fresca a la hora de ver la segunda. Y bueno, aunque es ya un hito de la cultura pop, a mis amigos no les gustó y es realmente entendible, ya que no es una “buena película”, pero es una película que podría ser la película favorita de alguien, esto porque se nota demasiado la visión de Tim Burton, un director que a pesar de tener sus altos y bajos no pasa nunca desapercibido; por eso, quiero ahora recomendar tres películas que me parecen lo mejor que ha hecho este director:

Yesterday I got together with my friends to watch Beetlejuice. Since the second part is about to be released, we decided to watch the first one (me, re-watching, them, watching it for the first time) to have a fresh mind for the second one. And well, although it is already a pop culture milestone, my friends did not like it and it is really understandable, since it is not a "good movie", but it is a movie that could be someone's favorite movie, this because Tim Burton's vision is very noticeable, a director that despite having his ups and downs never goes unnoticed; therefore, I now want to recommend three movies that I think are the best this director has done:
Big Fish
Por mucho tiempo mi película favorita, y es que es de las cosas menos Tim Burton que Tim Burton ha hecho, pero de igual forma, cuándo te pones a pensar en lo estrafalario que resulta ser la película, te das cuenta de que solo Tim Burton podría haberla hecho. Además, la película, que sirve como una lección de amor platónico y familiar, me llega al alma cada vez que pienso en todas las historias que me ha contado mi padre de su infancia y juventud, de cómo, sean cuentos o verdaderos hechos, los ojos de mi padre brillan al narrar sus vivencias, cosa que estoy seguro de que Tim Burton también recordó con su familiar a la hora de grabar esa película.
Big Fish
By far my favorite movie, and it's one of the least Tim Burton-ish things Tim Burton has ever done, but still, when you think about how quirky the movie is, you realize that only Tim Burton could have made it. Also, the film, which serves as a lesson in platonic and familial love, touches my soul every time I think of all the stories my father has told me from his childhood and youth, how, whether tales or true facts, my father's eyes sparkle as he recounts his experiences, something I'm sure Tim Burton also remembered with his family member when it came to making this film.
Sleepy Hollow
La leyenda del jinete sin cabeza, una de las historias más conocidas en el mundo y con cientos de adaptaciones tanto en series cómo en películas, pero sin duda la que mejor ha tomado ese aura tenebroso y místico es la que Tim Burton dirigió ya hace veinticuatro años teniendo a un joven Jhonny Depp como protagonista. Cómo con la mayoría de las películas de Tim Burton, es muy probable que mi opinión este sesgada por la primera impresión que tuve al ver Sleepy Hollow cuándo era un niño y me asusté al ver al jinete sin cabeza, pero eso no quiere decir que sea una mala película, ya que a diferencia de muchas otras que vi de pequeño del director, esta fue la que más me quedó marcada en la mente en cuanto a atmosfera se refiere.
Sleepy Hollow
The Legend of the Headless Horseman, one of the best known stories in the world and with hundreds of adaptations both in series and movies, but undoubtedly the one that has best taken that dark and mystical aura is the one that Tim Burton directed twenty-four years ago with a young Johnny Depp as the protagonist. As with most of Tim Burton's films, it is very likely that my opinion is biased by the first impression I had when I saw Sleepy Hollow as a child and I was scared to see the headless horseman, but that does not mean it is a bad movie, because unlike many others I saw as a child of the director, this was the one that stuck in my mind as far as atmosphere is concerned.
Mars Attack
Hice el acote de que la película que más me marcó en atmosfera fue Sleepy Hollow, porque sin duda la película que fue para mí un antes y después en la filmografía de Tim Burton es Mars Attack. Recuerdo la primera vez que la vi, en TCM, y cómo me reía de lo absurda que se volvía en algunas (casi todas) escenas. Con los marcianos más marcianos de una película y con el humor que me encanta tanto de Burton, Mars Attack me parece una de sus mejores películas porque deja de lado sus ideas pretenciosas y nos entrega una comedia tan divertida cómo imaginativa con un elenco que sorprende desde el principio de la película, con uno de los visuales más reconocidos de toda la carrera del director.
Mars Attack
I made the note that the film that most marked me in atmosphere was Sleepy Hollow, because without a doubt the film that was for me a before and after in Tim Burton's filmography is Mars Attack. I remember the first time I saw it, in TCM, and how I laughed at how absurd it became in some (almost all) scenes. With the most Martian Martians in a movie and with the humor that I love so much about Burton, Mars Attack seems to me one of his best films because it leaves aside his pretentious ideas and gives us a comedy as funny as imaginative with a cast that surprises from the beginning of the film, with one of the most recognized visuals of the director's career.
