¿Cuál es la mejor película de terror? Objetivamente, creo que esa es una pregunta que la verdad no tiene respuesta, y es que de hecho pensé en hacer un post tipo “las 3 películas de terror más importantes de la historia” pero es que hasta con la posibilidad de poner varias películas, no se me ocurren tres películas que hayan sido un antes y después en el género…, o mejor dicho, se me ocurren tantas, que hablar simplemente de tres me parece un pecado. Aprovechando (como ya lo he hecho antes) que estamos en octubre, pues entonces mencionaré mis películas favoritas de terror pero filtrándolas por década, en un viaje que me llevará varios posts y muchas películas por recorrer y revivir. Empezando ahora con la década de los 70s, están son mis tres películas de terror favoritas:

Which is the best horror movie? Objectively, I think that's a question that really has no answer, and I actually thought of doing a post like “the 3 most important horror movies in history” but even with the possibility of putting several films, I can't think of three films that have been a before and after in the genre..., or rather, I can think of so many, that talking about just three seems a sin to me. Taking advantage (as I have done before) that we are in October, then I will mention my favorite horror movies but filtering them by decade, in a journey that will take me several posts and many movies to go through and relive. Starting now with the decade of the 70s, these are my three favorite horror movies:
La masacre de Texas
Bueno contradecirme siempre ha sido parte de mí, y lo digo porque pensándolo muy bien esta película SÍ puede ser la mejor película de terror de la historia, pero eso depende de cómo te guste el terror. Para mí, obvio entra por lo menos en un top cinco, pero es porque me encanta el aspecto brusco que tiene. Si alguna vez has visto la película sabes de lo que hablo, y si no, corre a verla, no porque vaya a ser spoiler aquí, sino porque te estás perdiendo de una excelente película; una película que realmente es única en su tipo y que sorprende tanto por su resultado final como por su caótico rodaje que también da para hacer una película de terror.

Well contradicting myself has always been part of me, and I say that because on second thought this movie CAN be the best horror movie ever, but that depends on how you like your horror. For me, it obviously enters at least a top five, but that's because I love the gruff aspect of it. If you've ever seen the film you know what I'm talking about, and if you haven't, run out and see it, not because I'm going to be spoiler here, but because you're missing out on an excellent film; a film that is truly one of a kind and surprising both for its end result and for its chaotic shooting that also makes for a horror film.
El exorcista
pues, ¿qué se puede decir de esta película que no se haya dicho antes? Una belleza de película (dentro de lo técnico, obviamente) que la hizo ser la primera película de terror en ser nominada a mejor película en los Oscars, y es que lo vale. Pensar que la película a día de hoy cumple cincuenta años solo me vuela la cabeza porque, si cuando la vi hace unos años me pareció tenebrosa, con una vibra espeluznante y con proezas técnicas maravillosas, para cuando salió en el año 74 debió haberse sentido como una película imposible, como una historia intocable y como una experiencia única. Cómo dije, lo que dije, es muy probable que ya se haya dicho antes, y no quiero llenarme la boca hablando de una película que ya la gran mayoría ha visto, pero es imposible no pensar en el género de terror sin pensar en su gran exponente cuando se habla de terror religioso, el exorcista.
The exorcist
Well, what can be said about this film that hasn't been said before? A beauty of a film (within the technical aspects, obviously) that made it the first horror film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars, and it's worth it. To think that the film is fifty years old today just blows my mind because, if when I saw it a few years ago it seemed scary, with a creepy vibe and wonderful technical prowess, by the time it came out in '74 it must have felt like an impossible film, like an untouchable story and like a unique experience. How I said, what I said, has most likely been said before, and I don't want to fill my mouth talking about a film that the vast majority has already seen, but it's impossible not to think about the horror genre without thinking about its great exponent when talking about religious horror, The Exorcist.
Alien
el octavo pasajero es simplemente la mejor película del género, pero no del género de terror, sino de la ciencia ficción. Es mi película favorita de extraterrestres y puede que sea por la película en sí (que es perfecta por dónde se la mire y que tiene, en cada visionado, una capa más se encuentra entre el montaje, la dirección o el guion), sino porque al verla mi mamá me dijo que la vio en el cine cuando era joven y que se tapó la cara casi toda la película, por lo que en ese momento, cuando me vio viéndola, decidió verla conmigo.
Alien
alien is simply the best movie of the genre, but not of the horror genre, but of science fiction. It is my favorite alien movie and it may be because of the movie itself (which is perfect wherever you look at it and has, on each viewing, one more layer is between the editing, direction or script), but because when watching it my mom told me that she saw it in the cinema when she was young and covered her face almost the whole movie, so at that moment, when she saw me watching it, she decided to watch it with me.

Alien en este top me parece justicia pura. Y lo destaco, porque normalmente no suele estar en los rankings de filmes de terror más épicos, aun siéndolo. Excelente selección, amigo @kombatvzla
