This is the greatest show!

When it comes to movies, there's one element which is easily underestimated and that's the soundtrack. Now I'm not talking about movies where the plot is mainly around music, as in musicals (think high school musical) but in all movies, most people don't pay a lot of attention to the soundtrack but think about this; would movies be as interesting as they are without those well thought out soundtracks? Of course not, to me the soundtrack is what brings the entire elements of a movie together but it does it subtly.

How many of you have watched Game of Thrones? Do you remember that part where Arya was about to kill the night king? Bran was face to face with the night king while Arya made her move, now imagine that scene without the iconic soundtrack that was played, do you think it would have made such an impact? The soundtrack was just piano and that's typically what most of the Game of Thrones soundtracks are; pianos, strings and other acoustic instruments. Speaking of Game of Thrones, their soundtracks are actually one of my favorites and I have most of them saved on my phone.

I would say Game of Thrones soundtracks are on top of the list of my favourite soundtracks from movie series, closely followed by soundtracks from Empire, especially seasons 1 and 2. If you have watched Empire, you would know it's majorly a musical series filled with great songs mostly in the RnB and pop genre. I love movie soundtracks a lot and anytime I hear a great soundtrack, I always make sure to look for it on Spotify or YouTube music and save it to my playlist. I actually have a dedicated playlist on Spotify filled with movies and video game soundtracks. But in all, my favourite remains;

The Greatest Show

This was one of the soundtracks for the movie; The Greatest Showman which was released in December 2017 but many of us here in Nigeria watched it in 2018. Before I go on, if you haven't watched this movie, I would advise you to do so. Even though you don't like musicals, you will certainly love this one, it certainly lived up to its hype. The movie stared some very popular people in Hollywood; Hugh Jackman (you should know him from The Wolverine or X-Men), Zac Efron (he was Troy in High School Musical) and the beautiful Zendaya (I believe she needs no introduction)

The Greatest Show is the very first soundtrack of this movie and the interesting thing is that it was played right from the opening credits of the movie. It started playing as soon as the 20th Century Fox logo was shown and that was the first time I didn't skip the opening credits of a movie, I was so invested. The song started slow but immediately picked up when the chorus started and I had goosebumps all over my skin. The highlight of it was when Zendaya was thrown high in the air and she mouthed "This is the greatest show"

Seeing this first scene with all that music and the incredible performance, I knew I was in for a good time and it further proved that it is indeed the greatest show. Every other soundtrack from this movie is also fantastic to listen to, especially From Now On, Never Enough and Rewrite the Stars (Zac Efron and Zendaya's scene). I saved the entire album on YouTube music and this is one movie soundtrack album I never get tired of listening to (I got tired of Game of Thrones soundtracks). The soundtracks are the most interesting part of this movie, I mean, what else would you expect from a musical?

Other favourites

Moving away from the world of The Greatest Showman, another movie soundtrack I love is Venom by Eminem which was the soundtrack from the first Venom movie. Then the second Venom movie (Let There Be Carnage) has another fantastic soundtrack also called Venom and this one was by Little Simz. It was played during the closing credits and I was just looking at the credits rolling up just because wanted to listen to the song, it's a fantastic piece 👌. Another favourite movie soundtrack is Good to Me by Ariana Grande, Normani and Nicki Minaj.

This one was from the 2019 movie; Charlie's Angels and it has some of my favourite female singers (maybe it's why I love it) but overall it's a great song from an equally great movie. I can't end this post without mentioning an iconic soundtrack; Wonder Woman's personalized soundtrack. If you have watched the Wonder Woman movie, then you would probably know which soundtrack I'm talking about. There are over a hundred movie soundtracks in my Spotify playlist and I can't mention all here but that goes to show how much I love movie soundtracks, especially when they are very good to listen to.

You are right. That soundtrack is very good. I have the whole album downloaded on my computer. I think they were nominated for an Oscar that year for their soundtrack, the song This is me. I don't quite remember. Regards @kushyzee

(Edited)

You're totally right, they did receive an oscar nomination for Best Original Song (This is Me). It's a fantastic song, and well-deserving of the recognition. Thanks for stopping by.
