Ready Player One is a science fiction movie full of action and adventure, starring teenagers, but that doesn't mean it won't be enjoyed by audiences of all ages.

The plot revolves around a dystopian future where the world is literally a landfill in which the vast majority of humanity tries to survive as best they can, and their only source of relaxation and entertainment is The Oasis.

The Oasis is a multiplayer virtual reality game where each user can create their avatar and be whatever they want to be. There are different worlds within it, and each person can choose which one to interact in.

But like any game, it has an Easter Egg; the game's creator set up a competition in which the winner would inherit the rights to The Oasis.

Big corporations want to gain total control of the game since they act as lenders who take everything when players turn to them in order to continue in The Oasis.

However, without giving away too much, it remains to say that, like any movie directed by Steven Spielberg, the visual effects, soundtracks, and the story immerse us in that world throughout the entire duration of the film, without getting bored at all.

As an anecdote, in my case, every time I hear a certain song by the Bee Gees¹, I automatically think of Ready Player One.

I hope that those who haven't seen it yet, despite it being a 2018 movie, can enjoy it as much as I did when I discovered it in my forties!

Ready Player One es una película de ciencia ficción cargada de acción y aventura, protagonizado por adolescentes, pero con esto no quiero decir que no será disfrutada por públicos de todas las edades.

La trama gira en torno a un futuro distópico en el que el mundo es literalmente un basurero en el que la gran mayoría de la humanidad trata de sobrevivir lo mejor que puede y cuya única fuente de relajación y esparcimiento es El Oasis.

El Oasis es un juego de realidad virtual multijugador en el que cada usuario puede crear su avatar y ser lo que desea ser. En él hay distintos mundos y cada persona puede elegir en cuál interactuar.

Pero como todo juego, tiene un Huevo de Pascua, el creador del juego creó una competencia en la cual el ganador heredaría los derechos sobre El Oasis.

Las grandes corporaciones quieren obtener el control total del juego, ya que son una especie de prestamistas que se quedan con todo cuando los jugadores recurren a ellos con tal de seguir en El Oasis.

Pero como ya spoileé de más, solo resta decir que como toda película dirigida por Steven Spielberg, los efectos visuales, las bandas de sonido y la historia nos sumergen en ese mundo durante toda la duración de la película, sin aburrirnos un pelo.

Como anécdota, en mi caso, cada vez que escucho cierto tema de los Bee Gees¹, automáticamente pienso en Ready Player One.

Espero que los que aún no la hayan visto, a pesar de ser una película del 2018, puedan disfrutarla tanto como lo hice yo, cuando la descubrí a mis cuarenta y tantos!
