alternatetext

The Godfather Part III is a 1990 American crime film produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, based on the screenplay co-written with Mario Puzo. The film stars Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Andy García, Eli Wallach, Joe Mantegna, Bridget Fonda, George Hamilton, and Sofia Coppola. It is the third and final installment in The Godfather trilogy.

The film takes place in 1979, and follows Michael Corleone (Pacino) as he attempts to legitimize his criminal empire and remove himself from the violent underworld. However, Michael is drawn back into the world of crime when his nephew, Vincent Mancini (García), becomes involved in a power struggle with Joey Zasa (Mantegna), a young mobster who is backed by Michael's old rival, Don Altobello (Wallach).

The Godfather Part III was not as well-received as the first two films in the trilogy. However, it is still a well-made film with some strong performances, particularly from Pacino and García. The film is also notable for its focus on the theme of family, and its attempt to redeem Michael Corleone for his past sins.

It is a complex and ambitious film that tries to tie up the loose ends of the first two. It is not a perfect film, but it is still a worthy conclusion to one of the greatest trilogies in cinema history.
