Creo que fue el año pasado, o el anterior, cuando se estrenó la película Culpa Mía, y debo confesar que nunca leí el libro, pero sí vi la película y, la verdad, me gustó bastante. Así que tenía unas leves expectativas con respecto a la segunda parte. No sentí que la primera fuera la mejor película que haya visto en mi vida, pero cumplió decentemente con entretener, y eso, la verdad, está bastante bien. Aunque la película Culpa Tuya, la cual es la secuela de Culpa Mía, salió hace un tiempo, yo no la había visto hasta el día de hoy y quiero comentarles un poquito qué me pareció.

I think it was last year, or the year before, when the movie Culpa Mia was released, and I must confess that I never read the book, but I did see the movie and, truth be told, I liked it quite a bit. So I had some mild expectations regarding the second part. I didn't feel that the first one was the best movie I've ever seen, but it did a decent job of entertaining, and that's actually pretty good. Although the movie Culpa Tuya, which is the sequel to Culpa Mia, came out a while ago, I hadn't seen it until today and I want to tell you a little bit about what I thought of it.

Para empezar, la película comienza con la fiesta de cumpleaños de Noah, quien está un poco triste porque Nick no estaba presente, ya que estaba ocupado en el nuevo bufete de abogados donde trabajaba. Evidentemente, como no podía ser de otra manera, Nick llega con la sorpresa de su presencia, se ponen al día, pasan tiempo juntos y un poco de todo.

La situación se complica cuando los padres dan a entender que no quieren que estos dos estén juntos y hacen algunas maniobras para impedirlo. Al mismo tiempo, la relación de ambos empieza a flaquear, ya que, al ser un poco mayor, Nick está "madurando" más rápido, mientras que Noah todavía está en su etapa de salir de fiesta y disfrutar. Para mí, él es un personaje un poco indeciso, como que realmente no define lo que quiere, porque le da a entender a Noah que sería una buena idea que se fueran a vivir juntos, pero al mismo tiempo le dice que no cuando ella empieza a analizar la situación. Esa parte no me quedó muy clara sobre qué quería él exactamente.

To begin with, the movie starts with Noah's birthday party, who is a little sad because Nick was not present, since he was busy at the new law firm where he worked. Evidently, unsurprisingly, Nick arrives with the surprise of his presence, they catch up, spend time together and a little bit of everything.

The situation gets complicated when the parents imply that they don't want these two to be together and make some moves to prevent it. At the same time, their relationship starts to falter as, being a bit older, Nick is “maturing” faster, while Noah is still in his partying and enjoying himself stage. To me, he's a bit of an indecisive character, like he doesn't really define what he wants, because he hints to Noah that it would be a good idea for them to move in together, but at the same time tells her no when she starts to analyze the situation. That part was not very clear to me about what exactly he wanted.

Aparte de estos problemas internos en la relación, también influye el hecho de que Noah empieza a involucrarse con su compañera de residencia, quien resulta ser una exnovia de Nick, aunque ella no lo sabía. Además, la mamá de Nick también intenta meter cizaña, revolviendo un poco las cosas. A esto se suma otro personaje que influye en la historia: el terapeuta de Noah, quien es un tipo bastante despreciable. Y, por si fuera poco, a Nick le están metiendo por los ojos a una nueva chica con la que trabaja, quien además es bastante linda, lo que complica aún más la situación.

Todo esto lleva a que la pareja tenga una fuerte pelea, y también ocurre algo muy delicado con Noah, ya que sufre una violación y abuso de poder. Aunque la escena queda un poco ambigua, si tienes dos dedos de frente, puedes entender exactamente lo que pasó. La película terminó de una manera un poco turbia; siento que pudieron haberlo abordado mejor, como en el libro. Aunque no lo he leído, investigué un poco y me di cuenta de que allí lo trataron de una forma más desarrollada.

Aside from these internal problems in the relationship, it also plays into the fact that Noah starts getting involved with his roommate, who happens to be an ex-girlfriend of Nick's, although she didn't know that. In addition, Nick's mom also tries to get in on the act, stirring things up a bit. Added to this is another character who influences the story: Noah's therapist, who is a pretty despicable guy. And if that wasn't enough, Nick is getting in over his eyes with a new girl he works with, who also happens to be quite pretty, which further complicates the situation.

All this leads to the couple having a fierce fight, and something very delicate also happens with Noah, as he suffers a rape and abuse of power. Although the scene is left a bit ambiguous, if you have two fingers in front, you can understand exactly what happened. The movie ended in a bit of a murky way; I feel they could have approached it better, like in the book. Although I haven't read it, I did a little research and I realized that they dealt with it in a more developed way there.

Quizás no soy la persona más experta para hablar de películas ni nada por el estilo, pero creo que tenía las expectativas un poco más altas con respecto a esta película. No fue mala, pero siento que simplemente pudo ser mejor de lo que fue. En este caso, la trama flaqueó un poco y hubo escenas innecesarias. Es como cuando ves un musical y la música no tiene sentido o la escena musical no aporta nada a la historia.

Además, con todo el revuelo que tienen los actores, que no se hablan y no se llevan bien, la película tiene unas vibras raras. En pocas palabras, siento que pudo haber sido mucho mejor, al menos al nivel de la primera. Quizás vea la última para ver qué cierre le dan a esta historia.

Por los momentos, no es una película que pueda recomendar demasiado, a menos que solo quieran entretenerse y pasar el rato sin muchas expectativas. ¡Espero que les haya gustado conocer mis opiniones! ¡Nos leemos pronto!

Maybe I'm not the most knowledgeable person to talk about movies or anything like that, but I think I had slightly higher expectations for this movie. It wasn't bad, but I feel like it just could have been better than it was. In this case, the plot faltered a bit and there were unnecessary scenes. It's like when you watch a musical and the music doesn't make sense or the musical scene doesn't add anything to the story.

Also, with all the fuss about the actors not talking to each other and not getting along, the movie has a weird vibe to it. In short, I feel it could have been much better, at least on the level of the first one. Maybe I'll watch the last one to see what closure they bring to this story.

At the moment, it's not a movie I can recommend too much, unless you just want to be entertained and hang out without too many expectations. I hope you liked my opinions! See you soon!
