I almost couldn't think of any movies that related to this prompt. I know I have seen many movies around drinking. However, I get this thing where I forget details or things when asked or needed but would recall when not so necessary. I'm so certain that once this prompt expires, memories of some movie with drinking that i may have enjoyed really well will flood my mind, since I don't exactly have a favourite one. This might suffice, though.

So, this movie that I would be talking about happens to be a recent watch thst I got introduced to by my sisters who are very into movies of this genre cause its in their fields of study and work. It's an interesting medical series, Grey's Anatomy. It's an over twenty-season movie. I'm currently in season five, episode twenty-one, and I must say that I am hooked. It's surprising to find that it's an oldie, which makes me wonder why and how I never heard about it.

The very first scene in the movie - which is what inspired this choice - opens up to reveal a lady and a guy who had spent the night together. Two strangers, apparently, who met at a bar, Jo's bar, got talking(and drunk), and woke up beside each other at the lady's house. Sort of a one night stand that would stir up and change the course of their lives.

The lady, Meredith Grey(the main character), would ask the guy out of the house while she goes upstairs to prepare for her first day at work. She arrives at the hospital where she is to resume work as an intern and would meet a shocker - the man she had slept with the previous night is an attending at the same hospital. So much would happen as she tries to stay afloat amidst the strenuous work hours, work pressures and dumbfounded medical cases, her personal life regarding what she would go on to have with Dr Shepherd and the web that it is, her friends from work who become family and also have their own problems, her mother, the very talented and famous Dr Ellis Grey and all there is to know of the Chief of Surgery, Dr Webbler and his entanglement in her family. It's a whole lot.

Whew! In this movie, Jo's bar, which is just across the street from the hospital, is an integral part of this film, which can not be overlooked. At the end of the days job, most days, the doctors and nurses go by there and have some drinks and talk about anything within their circles of friendships.
It's a cool, safe zone for them to unwind after a toigh day at the job and to hold dates as well. In this bar, fights, quarrels, laughters, cries, rants, flirting, hookups, first dates, and even love happen. Oh, I even read somewhere that a wedding took place in the same bar. Not to forget, medical emergencies occur, too. Many things come to be at that bar.
Jo is also a good friend of all of them. Good guy who pours the drinks and listens to them, even join in their gossip and keep some secrets.

Whilst seeing the movie, it felt to me like the lives of these healthcare workers revolved around their home, the hospital, and Jo's bar. Drinking seemed to me like their past time, fun stuff. Sone much drinking went down in this film. Some led to relief, and some led to mistakes. I don't drink alcohol, but maybe if you do, you might understand what I mean.

Truthfully, I didn't think that doctors drank alcohol, not that much, I mean. When Shepherd had a bad surgery that led to the death of his patient, he drank so much that he was a mess. To celebrate good surgeries, drinking goes down. It just felt like their comfort thing for good and bad times. But, importantly, I was amazed at how some of them could handle their drinks.

Of course, there was no drinking during work hours. However, outside their lives at the hospital, the only other thing that seemed to help them have fun was the bottle. It did help them some.

This movie is one with a powerful script, with good character development, quite a progressive storyline, and a courageous positioning. It is an amazing show that demands perspective.

I am in a chokehold at this point. It is a great series with real-life situations, from relationships to medical drama. You name it. Your eyes are going to be glued to the screen.
Grab some popcorn, and i must include some tissue! It's a whirlwind of emotions on this one. Buck up and enjoy the wild ride.
I recommend.

I hope that this was interesting to read.
Thanks for coming around.

This series is the truth.
I've also been seeing it, and I'm hooked, too. Once I started to see it, I knew it was going to be medical movies or nothing. I already even went and did some findings on others in this line.
It's absolutely brilliant!!!

It truly is brilliant . It's a good, educating, and entertaining watch.
Maybe when I'm done with this one, I'll come to you for suggestions on others.

I've watched episodes of this on and off, and it's truly a beautiful series, at least those first few seasons I saw. Not sure about the last seasons. Thank you for sharing!✨

You're not the first person who's saying that it gets less entertaining and loses the elements it started with as the movie goes on. I remember reading reviews like that, too.

I really am enjoying the series, and I hope it's not so bad as they say.
