Oh! My Ghost (2022) Review
After a series of rather heavy theme topics, the other day I was watching Oh! My Ghost. It’s a supernatural comedy film that discusses a mix of spiritual realm and the idea of after all. It’s funny to think that even South Korea has these urban tales and folk stories about people who can control ghosts and are also heavy into shamanism. I thought these things only exist within SEA(South East Asia) but parts of modern Korea still believe in such. Oh! My Ghost is also a similar title to the story Oh My Ghost which runs for 16 episodes. The premise of both are completely different. Strangely, if you look Oh! My Ghost, it will direct you to the tv series instead of the film. Anyhow, this movie is available for streaming on Viu.
The story starts with a security guard at a film studio who was haunted by a female ghost during his night duty. The scene shifted to a guy reading the fortune of another girl which actually he was told by the ghost, who happens to be her girlfriend. This guy, Taemin (Jeong Jin-woon) needed a job. Eventually he was hooked by his friend to work at a shooting studio which turned out to be haunted. However with his ability to see ghosts, he managed to befriend the ghost and solved the problem inside the shooting studio. With the help of the shaman, he managed to guard the shooting studio. What kind of horror lies in that shooting studio?
Oh! My Ghost seems like a low budget movie as the setting wasn’t complex nor the characters. At the same time the characters and its development seems rather jumbled but you can enjoy the movie as is, a pure entertainment. This movie though has a lot of actors that often play supporting roles, it feels like they were there as is and doesn’t shine even though in this movie they get to have more lines than their usual type of films. Perhaps the main cast of this film could be the reason why it doesn’t garner as much attention as other films. That being said, unless you’re a fan of Jeong Jin-woon, it’s a movie that you can watch just because or simply when you’re running out of things to watch and serves as an intermezzo. Obviously, I would only give it 4.5 out of 10 and though it’s rated pretty high outside, in my rating system, this certainly doesn’t rate that high as there are better movies that Jeong Jin-woon was cast on.

Ghosts and haunted places seem to be attractive all over the world.
When there is a lot of minor acting it tends to confuse the story, I trust your judgement and with a rating like that I wouldn't watch it.
haha it is and yeah, it's better to skip that movie instead being sorry. I mean I was running out of things to watch and it was the one that was pretty convenient.
This is the first time I hear of this production and it certainly sounds very good, especially how they managed to develop that plot for that part of the world, being something shocking and especially the world of ghosts. So I will look for it and they are not long, in a few days it will be finished. Thanks for sharing it with us.
