Friends, how are you? Today I bring you the review of a series that I just finished watching with my sister @bethyjade, and that definitely left us a lot to think about. I've always liked Gloria Trevi's songs, although I can't consider myself one of her fans, but I do like many of her songs. In the 2000s I closely followed the whole scandal with the Andrade clan, I even watched TV shows based on the book "La Gloria por el Infierno" by Karina Yapor (one of the girls in the clan) but in this series, even though Gloria is the main character, the story is told from several points of view, the reality of each of the girls, and without further ado, let's start with this 😉.
Amigos ¿cómo están? Hoy les traigo la review de una serie que acabo de terminar de ver junto a mi hermana @bethyjade, y que definitivamente nos dejó mucho en que pensar. Desde siempre me han gustado las canciones de Gloria Trevi, aunque no puedo considerarme una de sus fans, pero si me gustan muchas de sus canciones. En los años 2000 seguí de cerca todo ese asunto del escándalo que hubo con lo del clan Andrade, incluso vi programas de televisión basados en el libro "Glory for Hell" de Karina Yapor (una de las chicas del clan) pero en esta serie, a pesar de que Gloria es la protagonista se nos cuenta la historia desde varios puntos de vista, la realidad de cada una de las chicas, y sin más preámbulo comencemos con esto 😉.
Overview/Resumen
The series traces the personal and artistic life of singer Gloria Trevi, from her early days of winning a TV show, through her time at Sergio Andrade's academy, her time in the all-girl rock band, her rise to stardom as a solo artist, her decline when the paedophilia and corruption of minors scandal broke, to her rise to stardom once again.
La serie se pasea por la vida personal y artística de la cantante Gloria Trevi, desde sus inicios al ganar un programa de televisión, pasando por su estancia en la academia de Sergio Andrade, su paso por la banda de rock de chicas, su llegada al estrellato como solista, su declive cuando estalló el escándalo sobre pedofilia y corrupción de menores hasta su ascenso nuevamente al estrellato.
The series also shows us, in great detail, all the terrible experiences inside Sergio Andrade's sect, all the punishments to which Gloria Trevi and the girls were subjected for several years, the gossip, scandals and other conflicts inside and outside the sect.
La serie nos muestra además, con lujo de detalles, todas las vivencias terribles dentro de la secta de Sergio Andrade, todos los castigos a los que Gloria Trevi y las chicas estuvieron sometidas durante varios años, los chismes, escándalos y demás conflictos dentro y fuera de la secta.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión
There are too many things I would like to mention about this series but let's start with the only thing I don't like, and that is that at the beginning it is easy to get lost in the timeline, as there is a bit of clutter in the Flash Black scenes, however it only happens during a few episodes, the rest I have nothing but praise, I like the shots used in the cinematography, especially in the dramatic scenes.
Hay demasiadas cosas que me gustaría mencionar de esta serie pero iniciemos por lo único que no me gusta, y es que al principio es fácil perderse en la linea temporal, ya que hay un poco de desorden en las escenas Flash Black, sin embargo solo pasa durante algunos episodios, del resto no tengo sino elogios, me gustan los planos usados en la fotografía, sobre todo en las escenas dramáticas.
But another aspect that caught my attention and I loved it is that at the end of all the episodes we can find the real testimonies of the people involved, including Gloria Trevi, each one narrates in first person what we have already seen in the episode, plus they also put a final screen with relevant information about help centres in case there are people going through the same traumatic situation reflected in the series, This is something worth highlighting because the series talks about emotional manipulation and very young girls who often, due to their lack of experience, are unable to discern between what is right and what is wrong, or what is harmful to themselves, so that they can identify harmful behaviour and seek the help they need.
Pero otro aspecto que me llamó la atención y me encantó es que al final de todos los episodios podemos encontrar los testimonios reales de las personas involucradas, incluyendo a Gloria Trevi, cada uno narra en primera persona lo que ya vimos en el episodio, además de que también ponen una pantalla final con información relevante acerca de centros de ayuda en el caso de que haya personas pasando por la misma situación traumática que refleja la serie, es algo digno de resaltar porque precisamente la serie habla de la manipulación emocional y chicas muy jóvenes que muchas veces por la falta de experiencia no pueden discernir entre lo que está bien y lo que está mal, o lo que es perjudicial para ellas mismas, de esta manera pueden identificar las conductas dañinas y buscar la ayuda que necesitan.
It is important to note that some names were changed in the series, for example: Sergio Andrade who is known as César Santiago, Maria Raquenel Portillo, better known as "Mari Boquitas" is known as Alicia Flores, "Ali Frecistas", and some other characters such as Karina Yapor who was called "Heidi Ramirez" I suppose this is because they obviously did not have permission from these people to appear in the series.
Es importante recalcar que algunos nombres fueron cambiados en la serie, como por ejemplo: Sergio Andrade quien es conocido como César Santiago, Maria Raquenel Portillo, mejor conocida como "Mari Boquitas" es conocida como Alicia Flores, "Ali Frecistas", y algunos personajes más como Karina Yapor a la cual llamaron "Heidi Ramirez" supongo que esto se debe a que obviamente no tenían permiso de estas personas para aparecer en la serie.
As for the performances, they were masterful, you can tell that Carla Estrada (the director) knew how to choose her cast very well, but without a doubt the performances that I liked the most were those of Jorge Poza (who plays the villain César Santiago) and Scarlet Gruber as the adult Gloria Trevi. All the girls who played the singer in the different stages of her life did a great job, but I highlight Grueber's work because she had more responsibility, she played the darkest moments of the singer, she imitated in detail each of Gloria Trevi's movements on stage and she put all her soul to the character. One of the things that caught my attention is that they used real videos that alternated with the performance of the actors.
En cuanto a las actuaciones estuvieron magistrales, se nota de Carla Estrada (la directora) supo escoger muy bien a su elenco, pero sin lugar a dudas que las actuaciones que más me gustaron fueron las de Jorge Poza (que interpreta al villano César Santiago) y Scarlet Gruber como Gloria Trevi adulta. Todas las chicas que interpretaron a la cantante en las diferentes etapas de su vida hicieron un grandioso trabajo, pero yo resalto el trabajo de Grueber porque tuvo mayor responsabilidad, pues interpretó los momentos más oscuros de la cantante, imitó a detalle cada uno de los movimientos de Gloria Trevi en el escenario y le puso toda su alma al personaje. Una de las cosas que más llamó mi atención es que utilizaron videos reales que alternaron con el performance de los actores.
My favourite scene where this girl makes a great display of her talent is where her character discovers the death of Ana Dalay, her daughter, it is impossible not to cry with her, while Jorge Poza offers us a masterful interpretation, very elegant but at the same time makes us hate his character with his dialogues full of mockery and contempt, and the most detestable is when he pretends to be empathetic.
Mi escena favorita donde esta chica hace un gran despliegue de su talento es donde su personaje descubre la muerte de Ana Dalay, su hija, es imposible no llorar con ella, mientras que Jorge Poza por su parte nos ofrece una interpretación magistral, muy elegante pero al mismo tiempo nos hace odiar a su personaje con su diálogos llenos de sorna y desprecio, y lo más detestable es cuando pretende ser empático.
And it's worth noting that this girl, Scarlett Grueber, is Venezuelan, so you can tell she worked hard to adopt a proper Mexican accent.
Y un detalle digno de resaltar es que esta chica, Scarlett Grueber es venezolana, así que se nota que trabajó muchísimo para adoptar un acento apropiado mexicano.
The soundtrack was great, they used the old Gloria Trevi songs for atmosphere but they also used some with new musical arrangements that gave it a different and fresh touch, but the main song is full of a lot of feeling, it's a very raw social critique.
El soundtrack estuvo genial, usaron las viejas canciones de Gloria Trevi para ambientar pero también usaron algunas con nuevos arreglos musicales que le dieron un toque diferente y fresco, pero la canción principal está llena de mucho sentimiento, es una crítica social muy cruda.
And finally there is the fact that Gloria herself played herself in the final chapters of the series, some people didn't like her performance but I liked it, I think it's impossible that she did a bad job playing herself, she had the opportunity to relive experiences that stirred her feelings, in fact, my favourite scene is one of the scenes in the final chapter where she meets with some of the girls who belonged to the clan and then they start talking about the past but without accusations, just healing wounds, it was a reunion of forgiveness and love between friends, I liked it because I even feel that there was no acting, they just let the emotions of the moment flow.
Y finalmente está el hecho de que la propia Gloria se interpretó a si misma en los capítulos finales de la serie, a algunas personas no le gustó su actuación pero a mi sí me gustó, pienso que es imposible que hiciera un mal trabajo interpretándose a sí misma, ya que tuvo la oportunidad de revivir experiencias que le removieron sentimientos, de hecho, mi escena favorita es una de las del capítulo final donde ella se reune con algunas de las chicas que pertenecieron al clan y entonces comienzan a hablar del pasado pero sin acusaciones, solo sanando heridas, fue una reunión de perdón y de amor entre amigas, me gustó porque incluso siento que no hubo actuación, sino que simplemente dejaron fluir las emociones del momento.
But what I liked most about this series, which only has one season and 50 episodes, is that, as its slogan says, it is an invitation for you to draw your own conclusions after having seen the testimonies and the situation of all the girls. "Don't judge what you haven't seen" "Watch and decide" I mean, the other girls of the Andrade clan wrote books, did TV shows, have podcasts about it telling their stories, so Gloria Trevi decided to talk about it in her bioseries, it was her way of expressing herself and freeing herself somehow from the pain of the past. For my part, I think they were all victims of one person who used them from a very young age to have fun and also to profit from their work.
Pero lo que más me gustó de esta serie, que solo tiene 1 temporada y 50 capítulos, es que, tal y como dicen sus eslogan, es una invitación a que tú mismo saques tus propias conclusiones luego de haber visto los testimonios y la situación de todas las chicas. "No juzgues lo que no has visto" "Vela y decide" Es decir, las otras chicas del clan Andrade escribieron libros, hicieron programas de televisión, tienen Podcast al respecto contando sus versiones, así que Gloria Trevi decidió también hablar sobre esto en su bioserie, fue su forma de expresarse y liberarse de alguna forma del dolor del pasado. Por mi parte pienso que todas ellas fueron víctimas de una sola persona que las utilizó desde muy niñas para divertirse y también para lucrar con el trabajo de ellas.
Well friends, we have reached the end of this review, whether you are fans of Gloria or not, I invite you to watch this series because it is a wake-up call to recognise harmful behaviours, and to prevent today's children from ending up in a web of suffering. No me había llamado la atención esta serie, no soy fan de Gloria pero veo que tiene potencial, gracias por darme ese impulso que necesitaba para animarme a verla, saludos.

LA buscare, aunque son muchos episodios, casi una telenovela. Yo vi la película sobre Gloria Trevi hace un tiempo y me gusto bastante. ¿No has visto esa?
