As a fervent fan of horror and suspense films, I ventured out to see Consecration (or El Sacramento del Diablo in Latin America) recently in the theater. Although I am usually disappointed with the endings of this genre, I am always willing to give a chance to any film that promises intrigue.
Como ferviente aficionada a las películas de terror y suspenso, me aventuré a ver Consecration (o El Sacramento del Diablo en Latinoamérica) recientemente en el cine. Aunque suelo decepcionarme con los finales de este género, siempre estoy dispuesta a darle una oportunidad a cualquier película que prometa intriga.
The film's trailer already gave some clues: a mystery to be solved in a convent. However, herein lies, in my opinion, the flaw in this film. At times, it seems excessive to link horror with the religious, as if it were an easy resource to build a plot. Consecration falls into that trap, since, although its plot is based on a religious event, religion is left in the background. From my perspective, the mystery takes on a much more transcendental prominence, I even came to think that a mental illness was related to the events of the film.
Don't get me wrong, the film is intriguing, but it wasn't exactly what was sold to me as horror or suspense; rather, it leans towards the psychological and mysterious.
El tráiler de la película ya daba algunas pistas: un misterio por resolver en un convento. Sin embargo, aquí radica, a mi parecer, el fallo de esta película. A veces, parece excesivo vincular el terror con lo religioso, como si fuera un recurso fácil para construir un argumento. El Sacramento del Diablo cae en esa trampa, ya que, aunque su trama se basa en un evento religioso, la religión queda en segundo plano. Desde mi perspectiva, el misterio adquiere un protagonismo mucho más trascendental, incluso llegué a pensar que una enfermedad mental estaba relacionada con los sucesos de la película.
No me malinterpreten, la película es intrigante, pero no fue exactamente lo que me vendieron como terror o suspenso; más bien, se inclina hacia lo psicológico y misterioso.
That said, let's focus on the performances, which I thought were fabulous. Jena Malone, who we remember from The Hunger Games, gave an impeccable performance, as did Danny Huston. The cast as a whole was incredible and managed to immerse me in the mystery that the plot offered.
Dicho esto, centrémonos en las actuaciones, que me parecieron fabulosas. Jena Malone, a quien recordamos de Los Juegos del Hambre, brindó una actuación impecable, al igual que Danny Huston. El elenco en su conjunto fue increíble y lograron sumergirme en el misterio que la trama ofrecía.
I loved the setting of the film. The landscapes of Scotland created a spectacular setting for a convent located almost at the end of the world. A highlight was the lighting, which this time was not excessively dark, allowing us to be attentive to every detail on the big screen.
La ambientación de la película me encantó. Los paisajes de Escocia crearon un entorno espectacular para un convento situado casi al final del mundo. Un punto destacable fue la iluminación, que esta vez no fue excesivamente oscura, permitiéndonos estar atentos a cada detalle en la pantalla grande.
In short, despite the lack of the scares I was expecting, the mystery kept my attention. I can't consider it a total loss; on the contrary, if I approach it as a cop-style mystery-solving film, I can say it's a good feature.

En resumen, a pesar de la falta de los sustos que esperaba, el misterio mantuvo mi atención. No puedo considerarla una pérdida total; al contrario, si la abordo como una película de resolución de misterios al estilo policial, puedo decir que es un buen largometraje.

A mi también me gustan las películas de misterio y es por eso que no considero que esta sea mala, simplemente que no fue lo que me vendieron como terror jeje, pero sí, te recomiendo que la veas porque es bastante interesante. Gracias por la visita querida amiga.
Al haber visto esta película coincido en que el tema de enfermedad psiquiátrica podría estar presente en la protagonista y no tanto una presencia demoníaca. Este es un film bastante interesante, sin lugar a dudas.
Having seen this movie I agree that the theme of psychiatric illness could be present in the protagonist and not so much a demonic presence. This is quite an interesting film, no doubt about it.
Es correcto, pareciera algo más de enfermedad que de posesión demoníaca, lo que pasa es que siento que utilizan la religión como un recurso de fácil manejo y en este caso creo que no funcionó. En líneas generales es una película bastante interesante, no puedo decir que es mala.

Me gustan estas películas, que chevere que hayas ido a verla al cine. Entonces termino siendo una película tipo drama psicológico o suspenso, no de terror. Se ve muy interesante la verdad, me llama la atención la escenografía donde dices que se desarrollo.

Si, podría decir que es tipo drama y misterio (resolver un crimen), pero sin duda muy interesante y las actuaciones a mi parecer, estuvieron brillantes, me encantaron.
Ojalá tengas la oportunidad de verla y me cuentas luego qué te pareció.
Esoo tenías el cine para ti solita, por lo que comentas de la película me va a gustar, ya que tiene elementos psicológicos suspensos, temas religiosos y la locación con buenas vistas, prácticamente todo lo que me llama la atención. @maitt87
Jeje si, la verdad es que fui a una función bastante temprana, por lo cual el cine estaba casi solo. Está película es interesante a pesar de las malas críticas que tuvo, pero la verdad es que te mantiene atrapado de principio a fin. Gracias por tu visita querida amiga.
