Taxi Driver - Not Just a Driver
When I first heard about Taxi Driver I thought it was just a movie about a taxi driver facing daily problems on the street But after watching it I discovered its one of the most profound and powerful psychological films you could ever see The film isn't just a story its a journey into the mind of Travis Bickle the protagonist played by Robert De Niro with such brilliance that you feel every moment of his anger loneliness and loss.
From the very first moment of the film you feel you're entering a bleak world filled with corruption violence and isolation New York in the 1970s was a chaotic city and this is reflected in the cinematography and music which leave you feeling uneasy at all times The camera allows you to see the world from Traviss perspective as he sees everything around him as decadent and corrupt trying to find meaning in his life amidst this chaos.
One of the most memorable scenes in my memory is when De Niro stands in front of a mirror and says to himself You talking to me.
This line has become one of the most famous in cinematic history and anyone who watches it can sense how far Travis has gone insanity and detached from reality The scene is simple but it tells you everything about his troubled personality who feels like he's at war with the entire world.
Taxi Driver isn't an ordinary action or drama film but its a profound psychological experience that makes you reflect on loneliness anger and the true meaning of life Not everyone will love it as its slow and dark but its certainly one of the greatest films in cinematic history If you haven't seen it yet I advise you to prepare a quiet time and delve into the mind of one of the most complex cinematic characters of all time.
I like the plot of the movie, definitely a good watch.
