Deadpool & Wolverine: Let's #$%%en GOOOO!

How we doing CineTV it has been a little while since I have popped together a bit of an review or discussion on movies. Not that I haven't been watching films or shows as I just binged all 7 seasons of Rick and Morty which is an epic show. I also recently got into exploding kitten's and binged a few other films or Netflix and Prime.

But there hasn't really been anything worthy of pen to paper or keyboard to meta these days until recently that is. Last night we headed to one of the last drive in cinemas in Melbourne located in Coburg a former industrial wing turned housing development. This site has been home to one of the longest running drive in's for decades.

Many of the other drive in cinema's have been sold off and redeveloped into estates and when you look at the land size required to operate one of these facilities you can see how the dollar cost average for a company just isn't there. While the coburg drive in's have 3 cinemas, if this was a general seating cinema you could build a multi level shopping complex with 10 cinemas and the companies ROI would be huge.

ROI or Happiness and memories?

But can ROI really be more important than creating core memories with family and loved ones? as a kid we would often head down to the drive in's hiding people in the boot to not have to pay for tickets and driving to the next screening to get a free viewing. You can see why these were phased out, from a business perspective. Probably not the best model.

But Coburg Drive in's adds food trucks and festivals to their mix in warmer weather which adds an entirely new feel and experience. Lot's of fun, although I did read somewhere that this place was sold off recently and will eventually be turned into housing developments.

But for the here and now, we are still able to visit and enjoy a industry that is on it's way out with the kids which enjoy it quite a lot. can be hard going to the cinemas with kids as they jump around and don't really watch it. Car's good especially the Sportswagon as the kids jump into the boot and watch whatever is on the other screen.

It's a lot safer I know they aren't going anywhere while jumping around in the backseat which also helps alot and I can focus on the film.

Deadpool & Wolverine

A lot has been said about this film many for and many against, Marvel has taken quite the hit at the box office with many people saying there are a lot of misses lately and let's be honest here there is a reason why Marvel has gone down and it is because of the way they introduced their characters.

The original avengers were introduced many moons ago where we have an entire generation that has grown up with a set character cast and now that their arch's have concluded Marvel are bringing in new characters but people don't want that, they might as well be brand new films of an entirely different genre.

As we know, nostalgia sells just as much as sex as we saw with BREXIT (has that happened yet?) and what we're seeing is Marvel trying to figure that out. They now include cameos and nostalgic pieces into films like Dr Strange's portal opener in the latest deadpool and wolverine film.

Also adding a bunch of former characters although this was to clean up the Fox Disney worlds and merge them so they can continue which will be good. Otherwise fans will be left asking too many questions. Ultimately this is what Deadpool & Wolverine is, it's a Disney Reboot of X-Men and marvel and a fun way to clean up loose ends and revive Wolverine. It's literally said at the opening of the film where Hugh Jackman said many moons ago he would never play wolverine ever again.

Fan's Get What The Fan's Want

So with Marvel tanking and failing fans have been calling for a return of Wolverine while the character was great in previous films we never got to see a comic book accurate version and this is Disney's way of being able to revive not just the Wolverine but the limping Marvel Universe.

Did I like the film? 100% it was a really fun way to merge Fox and Disney and reboot the Marvel Cinematic universe. While the Multiverse didn't pan out that great for Marvel (Although I didn't really dislike it as I think there have been some wonderful story lines) It has provided Disney the ability to undo past failures and clean up the industry.

If you didn't realise the majority of characters in the Void where FOX renditions - This movie just killed Fox's work and resets the timeline for Disney to move in. If only they could have done that with Star Wars.

Get ready for a return of Blade, I can not wait!
