Una historia de romance y elegancia que se remonta a la ocupación francesa en México. Una Carta de Amor cuyos protagonistas son Jorge Negrete y Gloria Marín, entre otros, del año 1943.

Fue la Epoca de Oro del cine mexicano y esta película unió en la vida a ambos actores, favoritos del público: Jorge y Marta quienes hicieron 11 películas juntos y 11 también fueron los años que duraron como pareja, cuando filmaron “Una carta de amor” vivían las mieles más dulces de su romance en la vida real.

El filme comienza en un Convento donde se encuentra Marta, rezando y aparece Alfredo, un joven insurrecto herido de bala, ella lo esconde bajo el vuelo de su falda, para ocultarlo de los militares. salvándole la vida.

Jorge Negrete actuaba y cantaba en la película, era el galán más popular de la pantalla.

Se vuelven a encontrar en la fiesta de compromiso de Marta con el Coronel, donde bailan y cantan. Ella lo esconde en su habitación por 2 días y 2 noches, hasta que puede huir.

La carta de Martha dice así:

Ahora busco palabras acariciadoras, que te digan lo que quiero decirte; las busco así porque son las últimas, las que te repetirá mi voz cada vez que leas esta carta.

Allá estaré esperándote, más no apresures el encuentro, allá tendremos siglos y siglos para encender este amor que comenzó en el mundo y que no podía continuar en él porque no es terrenal. No apresures el viaje, no busques la muerte, no quiero que seas de los que renuncian, de los que claudican, quiero estar siempre orgullosa de ti. Vivías para un ideal antes de conocerme y seré feliz de saber que seguirás viviendo para ese mismo ideal a pesar de haberme conocido. No quieras morir bien mío, no quieras morir, aunque sepas que llena de amor más allá de la vida te espero y te ansío
