El Secreto de Adaline / The Age of Adaline (2015): Movie Review
Historia de amor algo cliché con un transfondo más interesante, pues la protagonista es inmortal, teniendo que dejar a un lado su miedo a enamorarse y todo el dolor que esto le puede producir, ya que ha visto como todos aquellos que alguna vez le importó, se han marchado por la inexorable ley del tiempo. También tiene que vivir con el miedo constante de ser raptada por el gobierno, pues descubrieron algunos años atrás que ella no envejecia.
A somewhat cliché love story with a more interesting background, since the protagonist is immortal, having to put aside her fear of falling in love and all the pain that this can cause her, since she has seen how everyone she ever cared about, they have left by the inexorable law of time. She also has to live with the constant fear of being kidnapped by the government, since they discovered a few years ago that she does not age.
Como sucede en muchas de estas películas, conoce a un hombre de buena familia, muy culto y además es millonario, quien a punta de encanto, y básicamente chantajes con libros antiguos y extremadamente caros, consigue convencerla para salir en una cita, donde poco a poco, se van enamorando. Pero a partir de aquí es donde me empieza a fallar la lógica, pues no entiendo como el hombre puede seguir después de conocer todo el trasfondo de su pasado, pues hay hasta cabos sueltos entre Adaline y su padre.
As happens in many of these films, she meets a man from a good family, very cultured and is also a millionaire, who through charm, and basically blackmail with old and extremely expensive books, manages to convince her to go out on a date, where little by little little, they fall in love. But from here is where logic begins to fail me, because I don't understand how the man can continue after knowing all the background of his past, because there are even loose ends between Adaline and her father.

La forma en que la descubren tampoco es demasiado realista, pues un detalle como una cicatriz en la mano, que se podría diluir fácilmente en la memoria por el paso de los años, le confirma al padre de Ellis que ella es Adaline, y por más raro que fuera su pasado con ella, le pide que se quede pensando en su hijo, ya que no es nada raro que tu hijo y tu hayan estado con la misma mujer. Como no podía ser de otra forma, Adaline huye luego de que descubrieron su secreto, dejando a un lado lo turbio que puede significar todo esto.
The way they discover her is not very realistic either, since a detail such as a scar on her hand, which could easily be diluted in memory over the years, confirms to Ellis's father that she is Adaline, and even more Strange that his past with her was, he asks her to keep thinking about her son, since it is not at all strange that you and your son have been with the same woman. As it could not be otherwise, Adaline runs away after her secret is discovered, leaving aside how shady all this can mean.
Pero lo que menos tiene sentido para mí, es la explicación que le dan a la condición de inmortal de la protagonista, ya que intentan tomarse su tiempo para darle sentido, utilizando un montón de palabras científicas, pero absolutamente nada sigue la lógica. Al caer en un estado de hipotermia que provoque una parada cardiaca, lo menos que creo que podría volver a hacer latir tu corazón sería un relámpago, y si llegas a sobrevivir, las consecuencias no serían nada bonitas. Finalmente, por el bien de la trama, el desfibrilador rompió los efectos de la eternidad.
But what makes the least sense to me is the explanation they give to the protagonist's immortal status, since they try to take their time to make sense of it, using a lot of scientific words, but absolutely nothing follows logic. When you fall into a state of hypothermia that causes cardiac arrest, the least I think could get your heart beating again would be a flash of lightning, and if you survive, the consequences would not be pretty. Finally, for the sake of the plot, the defibrillator broke the effects of eternity.
En cuanto a las actuaciones, Blake Lively para mí gusto se quedó algo corta, pues aunque siempre lució muy bien y tuvo sus momentos, le faltó más complejidad para interpretar a una mujer con la melancolía y los daños que solo puede ocasionar el tiempo, el miedo y la soledad, detrás de su actitud sofisticada y su gran ingenio, había alguien rota, pero la verdad no se vió mucho esa faceta, más allá de algunos momentos de tristeza.
As for the performances, Blake Lively, for my taste, fell somewhat short, because although she always looked very good and had her moments, she lacked more complexity to interpret a woman with the melancholy and damage that only time, fear and loneliness, behind her sophisticated attitude and her great ingenuity, there was someone broken, but the truth is that this facet was not seen much, beyond some moments of sadness.
El resto de actores tampoco resaltaron demasiado para mí gusto, a excepción de Harrison Ford, pero más allá de sus primeros minutos, termina diluyéndose en frases tontas, por un guión no le jugó a nadie a su favor. Lo que más me gustó de todo fue la fotografía y como cuidaron cada detalle de las tomas, pero sobre todo fue volver a ver a San Francisco, una ciudad en la que viví por escasos 9 meses, pero su belleza, su cultura y hasta locura, siempre añorare.
The rest of the actors didn't stand out too much for my taste either, with the exception of Harrison Ford, but beyond his first minutes, he ends up diluting himself in silly phrases, due to a script that didn't work in anyone's favor. What I liked most of all was the photography and how they took care of every detail of the shots, but above all it was seeing San Francisco again, a city where I lived for just 9 months, but its beauty, its culture and even madness , I will always miss.
En conclusión, es una película muy cliché y algo tonta, aunque podrías pasar un buen rato viéndola, Blake es increíblemente bella y los escenarios son muy llamativos, pues al fin y al cabo, es una historia que se desarrolla entre gente muy adinerada, en un ciudad como San Francisco, que es de las más bellas e interesantes del mundo. Al final, tal vez fui un poco duro en el escrito, pero no me disgusto tanto la película, y la volvería a ver, solamente que adelantará la parte de la explicación pseudocientifica, jajaja.
In conclusion, it is a very cliché and somewhat silly film, although you could have a good time watching it, Blake is incredibly beautiful and the settings are very striking, because at the end of the day, it is a story that takes place among very wealthy people, in a city like San Francisco, which is one of the most beautiful and interesting in the world. In the end, maybe I was a little harsh in the writing, but I didn't dislike the movie that much, and I would watch it again, except that it would advance the pseudoscientific explanation part, jajaja.
