MERLIN 2008-2012

I honestly don't know where to begin because Merlin (2008) is more than just a show to me, it's an experience. It's one of those rare series that burrows deep into your heart and just stays there. I came in looking for magic and medieval action, and what I got was one of the best stories about friendship, sacrifice, loyalty, and destiny that I’ve ever seen on screen.

From the moment I started, I was hooked. No slow build-up, no filler nonsense, just straight into a world full of charm and heart. And I have to give a huge THANK YOU to the entire cast: Colin Morgan (Merlin), Bradley James (Arthur), Angel Coulby (Gwen), Katie McGrath (Morgana), Richard Wilson (Gaius), Anthony Head (Uther), John Hurt (the voice of the dragon), and the whole Round Table crew. You guys made legends feel real.

What stood out the most? That bromance. The bond between Merlin and Arthur, man, it was the heart of the whole show. The banter, the loyalty, the secret-keeping, the sacrifices, it was raw, it was funny, it was heartbreaking. Colin and Bradley nailed it every single time. There’s one episode where Arthur goes on a quest to save Merlin, and it just clicked, this is the king he was always meant to be, because of the friendship that shaped him.

I’ve seen and loved shows like Supernatural, Teen Wolf, Shadowhunters, and even some of the Marvel/DC stuff but Merlin hits different. It weaves magic and prophecy with personal growth and humor in a way that’s rare. And the comedy? Surprisingly on point. It doesn’t try too hard it just works. Facial expressions, timing, little running jokes between characters... it feels like you’re in on something special.

Gaius is another favorite. The father figure dynamic between him and Merlin is so warm and genuine. Their scenes are some of the most grounded in the whole fantasy landscape.

And Morgana’s arc? Whew. You feel for her. You don’t just watch her go dark, you understand it. That’s good writing.

Now, the finale... yeah. It broke me. I won’t lie. I hated seeing Arthur die, and I really think we deserved at least one more season with Arthur knowing the truth about Merlin. But those final scenes between Colin and Bradley? Utter perfection. Painful, honest, emotional some of the best acting I’ve ever seen in a TV show. I don’t cry easily, but I was a wreck.

This show doesn’t get the credit it deserves. It should be talked about so much more. It’s one of the greatest shows I’ve watched no exaggeration. If you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor and dive in. You won’t regret it.

Long live Camelot
Long live the Once and Future King
Long live the new Queen Gwen
