Hola queridos amigos amantes del cine, espero se encuentren muy bien el día de hoy. He estado viendo algunas películas y el día de hoy quiero compartir mi reseña sobre la película "Lola" dirigida y protagonizada por Nicola Peltz quien es una joven conocida por su relacion sentimental con uno de los hijos del ex futbolista David Beckham, ella siempre me ha parecido una chica que ademas de tener belleza posee un gran carisma y se ha iniciado en el mundo del cine como directora con este nuevo film el cual ha tenido diferentes criticas pero que a mi parecer fue bastante bueno para alguien que tiene poca experiencia en el mundo del cine. Así que los invito a leer mi reseña de "Lola"
Hello dear friends movie lovers, I hope you are doing well today. I have been watching some movies and today I want to share my review of the film "Lola" directed and starring Nicola Peltz who is a young woman known for her relationship with one of the sons of former footballer David Beckham, she has always seemed to me a girl who besides having beauty has a great charisma and has started in the world of cinema as a director with this new film which has had different reviews but in my opinion was pretty good for someone who has little experience in the world of cinema. So I invite you to read my review of "Lola".
La historia nos cuenta la vida de una familia bastante disfuncional y a la vez muy creyentes de la religión cristiana, dónde la madre de Lola es una mujer que aparenta ser siempre la mejor persona y que se mantiene bajo los mandamientos de Dios pero que refleja en sus acciones todo lo contrario y esto también se refleja en su relación con sus dos hijos: Lola y Arlo. Lola es una joven de diecinueve años que trabaja como bailarina y prostituta en un bar, lleva una vida de día como trabajadora en una tienda donde trabaja junto a su mejor amiga Babina, pero en las noches su vida cambia completamente haciéndola buscar el dinero usando su belleza y su juventud. Pero sabemos que una vida dentro de la prostitución es bastante dramática y oscura, dónde puedes conseguirte con cualquier tipo de hombres y te pueden suceder cosas muy graves y esto no será diferente para Lola.
The story tells us the life of a dysfunctional family and at the same time very believers of the Christian religion, where Lola's mother is a woman who always appears to be the best person and who keeps under the commandments of God but her actions reflect the opposite and this is also reflected in her relationship with her two children: Lola and Arlo. Lola is a nineteen year old girl who works as a dancer and prostitute in a bar, she leads a life by day as a worker in a store where she works with her best friend Babina, but at night her life changes completely making her look for money using her beauty and her youth. But we know that a life in prostitution is quite dramatic and dark, where you can get with any kind of men and very serious things can happen to you and this will not be different for Lola.
Lola siente un amor muy grande por su hermano Arlo, quién se identifica como una niña y no como un niño y Lola siempre le hace saber que no está mal lo que siente y que siempre le va apoyar en sus decisiones. Arlo suele usar el cabello largo, ropa de colores más femeninos, le gusta estar rodeado de mujeres y poder hablar sobre cosas de niñas, también se divierte con Lola y le dice que quiere ser como ella cuando sea adulta. Está situación obviamente causa en la madre de Lola un resentimiento muy fuerte porque dice que Dios solo hizo hombre y mujer y que no podemos querer cambiar lo que somos porque estaría pecando y se iría al infierno. Lola pelea mucho con su madre por qué protege a su hermano por sobre todas las cosas y hace que siempre estén en conflicto.
Lola feels a great love for her brother Arlo, who identifies as a girl and not as a boy and Lola always lets him know that it is not wrong what he feels and that she will always support him in his decisions. Arlo usually wears long hair, more feminine colored clothes, likes to be surrounded by women and to be able to talk about girly things, he also has fun with Lola and tells her that he wants to be like her when he grows up. This situation obviously causes Lola's mother a very strong resentment because she says that God only made man and woman and that we cannot want to change who we are because we would be sinning and would go to hell. Lola fights a lot with her mother because she protects her brother above all things and causes them to always be in conflict.
Además de todo esto y la falta de dinero y oportunidades, Lola siempre ha querido tener una vida mejor que la que vive cada día pero tiene una fuerte adicción a las drogas y siempre tiene la necesidad de querer más en todo momento para aliviar la sensación de vacio y los miedos que tiene por la vida que lleva, a pesar de tratar de salir de ese infierno de la adicción las cosas se ponen aún peores en su vida debido a que es víctima de una violación y a partir de ese momento su vida cambia para siempre, ya que luego se entera de que está embarazada y la persona que la abusó es alguien muy cercano a su madre, ella decide contarle lo que pasó pero esta no le cree y le dice que solo quiere meterle ideas en la cabeza y que si está embarazada es por la vida de "libertinaje" que siempre ha llevado.
In addition to all this and the lack of money and opportunities, Lola has always wanted to have a better life than the one she lives every day but she has a strong addiction to drugs and always has the need to want more at all times to alleviate the feeling of emptiness and fears she has for the life she leads, despite trying to get out of that hell of addiction things get even worse in her life because she is the victim of a rape and from that moment her life changes forever, as she then learns that she is pregnant and the person who abused her is someone very close to her mother, she decides to tell her what happened but she does not believe her and tells her that she just wants to put ideas in her head and that if she is pregnant is because of the life of "debauchery" that she has always led.
Esta película la pueden encontrar en PrimeVideo y en algunas plataformas de streaming ya que fue estrenada este año y esta muy reciente. En si es bastante corta tiene una duración de una hora y media, pero realmente me pareció muy buena para ser la primera producción como directo de Nicola Peltz y quien ademas hizo una muy buena actuación como Lola. Los temas que se tocan en la historia son bastante fuertes, desde como una persona tan joven puede caer en el mundo de la adicción y lo difícil que se vuelve poder llevar una vida normal y tratar de dejarlo, es bastante difícil ya que no tiene una red de apoyo más que su amiga y su hermana pequeña pero aún así siento que Lola a pesar de todo lo que vivió tuvo la valentía para tomar las decisiones que para ella fueron las adecuadas y que dejan como enseñanza que siempre se puede mejorar si así lo quieres.
This movie can be found on PrimeVideo and on some streaming platforms since it was released this year and is very recent. In itself it is quite short, it has a duration of an hour and a half, but I really thought it was very good for being the first direct production of Nicola Peltz, who also gave a very good performance as Lola. The themes that are touched in the story are quite strong, from how a young person can fall into the world of addiction and how difficult it becomes to lead a normal life and try to leave it, it is quite difficult because she has no support network but her friend and her little sister but still I feel that Lola despite everything she lived had the courage to make decisions that for her were the right ones and that leave as a teaching that you can always improve if you want to.
El tema de ser transexual como es el caso de Arlo es muy difícil de ver a través de la película, donde se encuentra en la situación de ser solo un niño que no comprende porque su madre no puede amarlo por quien en realidad es, recibiendo maltratos psicologicos por parte de ella y sintiendo que tal vez no encaja en el mundo y es muy triste porque es la realidad de las personas que viven en un cuerpo con el cual no se sienten identificados. La fotografía y las escenas de la historia son muy bien tomadas y realmente te hacen sentir dentro de la misma, podemos ver desde el comienzo como capturan la mirada de Lola, siendo esta la mirada de una persona que se siente triste y rota, que está tratando de ser mejor persona pero que no tiene las herramientas para poder hacerlo.
The theme of being transsexual as is the case of Arlo is very difficult to see through the film, where he finds himself in the situation of being just a child who does not understand why his mother can not love him for who he really is, receiving psychological abuse from her and feeling that maybe he does not fit in the world and it is very sad because it is the reality of people who live in a body with which they do not feel identified. The photography and the scenes of the story are very well taken and really make you feel inside the story, we can see from the beginning how they capture the look of Lola, being the look of a person who feels sad and broken, who is trying to be a better person but does not have the tools to be able to do it.
Es una película que disfrute mucho pero que me hizo sentir muy mal por tantas injusticias que vivieron Lola y Arlo por tener una madre que realmente no estaba emocionalmente bien y que se escudaba de un Dios que según ella es alguien que te juzga y que no te amará si no haces lo que según dice en la biblia que es lo correcto. Realmente es una historia cruda, pero que vale la pena ver y que te deja reflexionando acerca de que tan importante son las creencias que tenemos sea religiosa o nuestra visión del mundo, afortunadamente Lola y su hermano Arlo aunque no los muestran juntos al final, se deja ver que pudieron salir adelante alejados de su madre y que las cosas mejoraron para ellos.
It is a movie that I really enjoyed but it made me feel very bad for so many injustices that Lola and Arlo lived for having a mother who really was not emotionally well and who shielded herself from a God who according to her is someone who judges you and who will not love you if you do not do what it says in the bible is the right thing to do. It really is a raw story, but it is worth watching and leaves you reflecting on how important are the beliefs we have whether religious or our worldview, fortunately Lola and her brother Arlo although they are not shown together at the end, you can see that they were able to move forward away from their mother and that things improved for them.
