Hola amigos de la comunidad de Movies & Tv el día de hoy quiero desearles un feliz comienzo de año, por ser un dia en el que todos nos encontramos descansando en casa me di a la tarea de buscar una película que está siendo muy criticada en estos momentos, si les hablo de Saltburn la película dirigida por Esmerald Fennell la misma directora de la aclamada película Promising Young Woman protagonizada por Carey Mulligan la cual les llevo a tener nominación al Oscar y Bafta por mejor guión original y que ganaron en esa categoría. Realmente está directora me sorprendió, para hacer una película como Promising Young Woman y ser su debut tuvo muy buenas críticas y la historia es realmente atrapante desde que la comienzas a ver, si tienen la oportunidad les invito a ver Promising Young Woman antes de ver Saltburn, pienso que con ambas van a quedar fascinados por tan bien guión, reparto y puesta en escenas de ambas.
Hello friends of the Movies & Tv community today I want to wish you a happy beginning of the year, being a day when we are all resting at home I gave myself the task of looking for a movie that is being very criticized at the moment, I am talking about Saltburn the film directed by Esmerald Fennell the same director of the acclaimed film Promising Young Woman starring Carey Mulligan which led them to have Oscar and Bafta nomination for best original screenplay and won in that category. This director really surprised me, to make a film like Promising Young Woman and being her debut she had very good reviews and the story is really catching since you start to see it, if you have the opportunity I invite you to see Promising Young Woman before seeing Saltburn, I think that with both you will be fascinated by such a good script, cast and staging of both.
La película Saltburn nos cuenta la historia de dos jóvenes estudiantes, uno llamado Oliver Quick el cual es un joven que no tiene los recursos necesarios para entrar en una universidad pero que con su capacidad intelectual logra entrar en una bastante sofisticada y llena de jóvenes completamente diferentes a él, llenos de dinero y con vidas aparentemente perfectas. Por casualidad Oliver conoce a uno de los estudiantes más populares de la universidad llamado Félix Catton un joven lleno de vida, rodeado de muchos amigos y con una vida llena de lujos por lo cual no tiene muchas razones para preocuparse por su futuro porque básicamente lo tiene todo (al menos materialmente)
The film Saltburn tells the story of two young students, one named Oliver Quick who is a young man who does not have the necessary resources to enter a university but with his intellectual ability manages to get into a fairly sophisticated and full of young people completely different from him, full of money and seemingly perfect lives. By chance Oliver meets one of the most popular students at the university called Felix Catton, a young man full of life, surrounded by many friends and with a life full of luxuries so he has little reason to worry about his future because he basically has everything (at least materially).
Después de pasar tiempo en la universidad juntos y de conocerse un poco más Félix invita a Oliver a su excéntrica casa en Saltburn para pasar el verano junto a su familia. Cuando Oliver llega podemos ver que Félix tiene más que dinero, hay una enorme mansión de estilo rústico llena de habitaciones lujosas y un sin fin de cosas que Oliver ni en sus mejores sueños había visto o vivido de cerca. En la casa está Elspeth (Rosamund Pike) la mamá de Félix, una mujer bastante aislada de los problemas del mundo real, siempre muy bien arreglada y que parece ser la madre y esposa perfecta. El papá de Félix es Sir James (Richard E. Grant) un hombre que tampoco tiene demasiado por lo que preocuparse más que su estatus, su esposa y su hijo. También está el primo de Félix llamado Farleigh (Archie Madekwe) un joven despreocupado que le agrada mucho estar rodeado de los lujos de su primo y que también es muy observador. Por último están Pamela (Carey Mulligan) una mujer que es amiga de la familia y que tiene un aspecto particular y siempre está fumando cigarrillos, parece ser bastante inestable y es algo que sabremos más adelante sobre ella en la película. Y Venetia (Alison Oliver) una joven que parece ser amiga de Félix y de la familia y también disfruta pasar el tiempo junto a esta familia llena de lujos y de cosas nuevas por descubrir.
After spending time at university together and getting to know each other a little better Felix invites Oliver to his eccentric house in Saltburn to spend the summer with his family. When Oliver arrives we can see that Felix has more than money, there is a huge country style mansion full of luxurious rooms and endless things that Oliver had never in his wildest dreams seen or experienced up close. In the house is Elspeth (Rosamund Pike) Felix's mom, a woman quite insulated from the problems of the real world, always very well groomed and who seems to be the perfect mother and wife. Felix's dad is Sir James (Richard E. Grant) a man who also doesn't have much to worry about other than his status, his wife and his son. There is also Felix's cousin named Farleigh (Archie Madekwe) a carefree young man who takes great pleasure in being surrounded by his cousin's luxuries and is also very observant. Lastly there is Pamela (Carey Mulligan) a woman who is a friend of the family and who has a particular look and is always smoking cigarettes, she seems to be quite unstable and is something we will learn more about her later in the film. And Venetia (Alison Oliver) a young woman who seems to be a friend of Felix and the family and also enjoys spending time with this family full of luxury and new things to discover.
Cuando Oliver llega a Saltburn queda sorprendido y a la vez fascinado por todo lo que Félix posee, como una familia que además de no ser problemática como la de él, es una familia que nunca ha tenido que pasar por ningún tipo de necesidad al menos económicamente y eso hace que el sienta muchos sentimientos encontrados. Durante su estadía va conociendo más a fondo a la familia y a las personas que se están quedando en la casa. Pero por alguna razón el siempre muestra desde el comienzo cierto interés en Félix, es como una sensación de que el es más que su amigo, más que la única persona que lo trató diferente y no lo juzgó por no ser de dinero como él. Pero las cosas se van poniendo cada vez más interesantes e intensas, Oliver no puede evitar sentir celos por la vida que el hubiera deseado tener y poco a poco se va metiendo en la vida de cada una de las personas que están pasando las vacaciones en la casa de Saltburn de la familia de Félix.
When Oliver arrives at Saltburn he is surprised and at the same time fascinated by everything that Felix has, such as a family that besides not being problematic like his, is a family that has never had to go through any kind of need at least economically and that makes him feel many mixed feelings. During his stay he gets to know the family and the people who are staying in the house. But for some reason he always shows from the beginning a certain interest in Felix, it is like a feeling that he is more than his friend, more than the only person who treated him differently and did not judge him for not being of money like him. But things get more and more interesting and intense, Oliver can't help but feel jealous of the life he wishes he could have had and little by little he gets involved in the lives of each of the people who are spending their vacations at Felix's family's Saltburn home.
Está película es bastante interesante, podemos ver cómo el personaje principal que es Oliver se muestra cómo una persona completamente normal e inofensiva, incluso se muestra demasiado amigable y bueno escuchando las historias de los que están en esa casa. Pero el quiere más, quiere ser más cercano a Félix y quiere que este lo reconozca como una persona importante para él. Aunque Félix fue un personaje que al principio se vio desinteresado en ayudar o ser amigo de Oliver, el sintió que Oliver era una persona con la cual podría tener una amistad o algo más que eso, pero en la película no muestran una relación más que de amistad.
This movie is quite interesting, we can see how the main character who is Oliver is shown as a completely normal and harmless person, he is even too friendly and good at listening to the stories of those who are in that house. But he wants more, he wants to be closer to Felix and he wants Felix to recognize him as an important person for him. Although Felix was a character who at first seemed disinterested in helping or being friends with Oliver, he felt that Oliver was a person with whom he could have a friendship or something more than that, but in the movie they don't show a relationship more than friendship.
Hay escenas muy fuertes en esta película para algunas personas, incluso he visto vídeo reacciones sobre la película de personas que la vieron sin saber de qué trataba o estaban acompañados por sus padres y se sintieron avergonzados porque sí, hay varias escenas donde hay escenas sexuales con desnudos y que van un poco más allá de ser solo algo sexual. Creo que no podría explicarlo sin dar spoilers pero hay bastante drama y locura en la mente de Oliver, lo que hace que se comporte de maneras extrañas y que mienta acerca de quién es y de su vida personal. A pesar de ser escenas bastante gráficas son pasables, aunque no recomiendo ver esta película con menores de edad. Tienen que estar preparados para verla con una mente abierta y esperando lo peor. Estas escenas llevaron a mucho debate sobre si la película fue realmente buena o solo fue una historia más con escenas que pueden ser llamadas morbosas.
There are very strong scenes in this movie for some people, I've even seen video reactions about the movie from people who watched it without knowing what it was about or were accompanied by their parents and felt embarrassed because yes, there are several scenes where there are sexual scenes with nudity and they go a little beyond just being sexual. I guess I couldn't explain it without giving spoilers but there is quite a bit of drama and craziness going on in Oliver's mind, which causes him to behave in strange ways and lie about who he is and his personal life. Despite being fairly graphic scenes they are passable, although I don't recommend watching this movie with minors. They need to be prepared to watch it with an open mind and expect the worst. These scenes led to much debate as to whether the movie was really good or just another story with scenes that can be called morbid.
Lo que más me gustó fue el reparto que estuvo increíble, Oliver (Barry Keoghan) el cual me parece una estrella del cine que aún no tiene la suficiente fama y que en esta película destacó por ser tan versátil y demostrar como una persona puede ocultar tantas cosas detrás de un rostro inocente. También la actuación de Félix (Jacob Elordi) estuvo muy buena, mostrando que este actor puede hacer personajes más allá de películas de romance o autobiográficas. Elspeth (Rosamund Pike) es sin duda una mujer y actriz increíble que puede hacer cualquier tipo de actuación y que lo demostró en películas como Gone Girl. Venetia (Carey Mulligan) es otra actriz que me gustó desde la película El Gran Gatsby y Promising Young Woman y que sin duda vería más filmes dónde esté ella como parte del reparto.
What I liked the most was the cast, which was incredible, Oliver (Barry Keoghan) who seems to me to be a movie star who is not yet famous enough and who in this film stood out for being so versatile and showing how a person can hide so many things behind an innocent face. Also Felix's (Jacob Elordi) performance was very good, showing that this actor can play characters beyond romance or autobiographical movies. Elspeth (Rosamund Pike) is undoubtedly an amazing woman and actress who can do any kind of acting and who proved it in films like Gone Girl. Venetia (Carey Mulligan) is another actress that I have liked since The Great Gatsby and Promising Young Woman and I would definitely watch more films where she is part of the cast.
Aunque para muchas personas esta película les pareció inconclusa, que es una historia más rebuscada y que no aparta nada más que ciertos temas como la diferencias de las clases sociales, el deseo y la crueldad pienso que fue una de las mejores películas del 2023 y que merece ser vista aunque pueda ser incomoda. Podemos ver cómo el hecho de que algunas personas tengan más cosas o posean más bienes materiales causa que otros puedan sentir celos o hasta envidia. El final de esta película me gustó, porque revela la verdad de Oliver y para mí quedó muy claro por qué ocurrieron todas esas situaciones, pienso que Oliver era una persona que estaba buscando saber lo que se sentía ser alguien o tener el poder sobre los demás y lo consiguió aunque con sus consecuencias.
Although for many people this movie seemed inconclusive, that it is a more stilted story and that it doesn't take away anything more than certain themes such as social class differences, desire and cruelty, I think it was one of the best movies of 2023 and that it deserves to be seen even if it can be uncomfortable. We can see how the fact that some people have more things or possess more material goods causes others to feel jealousy or even envy. I liked the ending of this movie, because it reveals Oliver's truth and for me it was very clear why all those situations happened, I think Oliver was a person who was looking to know what it felt like to be someone or to have power over others and he got it although with its consequences.
La pueden encontrar en Amazon Prime Video y también en plataformas de películas por internet en idioma español y subtitulada, tiene una duración de dos horas y diez minutos pero valen la pena, la película es muy interesante y se me hizo bastante rápida verla. Si ya vieron esta película me gustaría que me dejaran un comentario sobre que les pareció y que fue lo que más les llamo la atención de ella.
You can find it on Amazon Prime Video and also on online movie platforms in Spanish language and subtitled, it has a duration of two hours and ten minutes but it is worth it, the movie is very interesting and it was quite fast to watch it.
