[ESP-ENG] Film Review: The Fury of a Patient Man | Tarde para la Ira.

Hola amigos de la comunidad de Movies & Tv, espero que se encuentren bien el día de hoy. Hace unos días ví una película española llamada Tarde para la Ira, me llamó la atención el nombre de la película y quise darle un intento para ver qué tal era, está película dirigida por Raúl Arévalo es un thriller donde podemos ver la naturaleza del ser humano en su máxima expresión sobre todo al momento de vivir un duelo y un evento tan traumático cómo lo es el perder a un ser querido producto de la violencia y la delincuencia. Todos estos elementos captaron mi atención y me hicieron ver hasta el final está película además de que los españoles tienen una forma de hacer cine que puede ser bastante realista y en esta película sucede esto con el protagonista y lo que tuvo que vivir en medio de una españa llena de violencia y delincuencia.

Hello friends of the Movies & Tv community, I hope you are well today. A few days ago I saw a Spanish movie called Tarde para la Ira, the name of the film caught my attention and I wanted to give it a try to see what it was like, this film directed by Raul Arevalo is a thriller where we can see the nature of human beings at its best, especially when living a grief and an event as traumatic as it is to lose a loved one due to violence and crime. All these elements captured my attention and made me watch this film until the end, besides the fact that the Spanish have a way of making films that can be quite realistic and in this film this happens with the protagonist and what he had to live in the midst of a Spain full of violence and crime.

La trama nos habla de la vida de la historia de un hombre llamado José (Antonio de la Torre) quien vive perdido entre bares y su propio tormento: la pérdida del amor de su vida. La muerte de su esposa en un asalto a mano armada lo deja lleno de preguntas y respuestas que a pesar de los años aún intenta encontrar, vemos como la perdida de alguien tan importante para la vida de un ser humano en este caso de José hace que su vida cambie para siempre y que se convierta en un hombre solitario y sombrío. Es difícil para el a pesar de que ya han pasado más de seis años el poder continuar con su vida y poder "perdonar" de alguna manera a quienes hicieron esto y que además no solo afectaron a su esposa sino también a su padre quien se encuentra conectado en un hospital al oxígeno con pocas probabilidades de poder despertar.

The plot tells the life story of a man named José (Antonio de la Torre) who lives lost between bars and his own torment: the loss of the love of his life. The death of his wife in an armed robbery leaves him full of questions and answers that despite the years he still tries to find, we see how the loss of someone so important to the life of a human being in this case José makes his life change forever and becomes a lonely and gloomy man. It is difficult for him, even though more than six years have passed, to be able to continue with his life and somehow "forgive" those who did this and who also affected not only his wife but also his father who is connected to oxygen in a hospital with little chance of waking up.

Está historia se desarrolla en medio de una españa donde los hechos violentos son el pan de cada día y además la narrativa de la película hace que te sientas parte de la historia, porque se siente que estás viendo una historia tal realista que no puedes dejar de mirarla hasta que llegas al final. En esta historia no solo está José sino también un hombre llamado Curro (Luis Callejo) quien se encuentra a punto de salir de la carcel después de ocho años en prisión y que está emocionado por reencontrarse con su hijo y su mujer Ana (Ruth Díaz), ambos han mantenido su relación a pesar de la distancia y mantienen la esperanza de volver a estar juntos y poder ser una familia normal.

This story takes place in the middle of a Spain where violent events are the daily bread and the narrative of the film makes you feel part of the story, because you feel that you are watching such a realistic story that you can't stop watching until you reach the end. In this story there is not only Jose but also a man named Curro (Luis Callejo) who is about to get out of jail after eight years in prison and who is excited to be reunited with his son and his wife Ana (Ruth Diaz), both have maintained their relationship despite the distance and keep hoping to get back together and be able to be a normal family.

Pero las cosas se ponen difíciles cuando José se entera de que Curro tuvo que ver en el violento robo a mano armada donde murió su esposa y dónde lastimaron a su padre, esto genera en él el deseo de venganza y de poder buscar las respuestas a todas esas preguntas que se ha hecho despues de lo sucedido. Hay mucha violencia en ese momento en la españa que se encuentra en crisis y que además muestra tan real la manera en la que su sociedad se comporta aunque no se puede generalizar y decir que todo es violencia pero si hay un alto impacto en la forma de vida que lleva la sociedad española sobre todo la de esa época en la que a José le cambio la vida para siempre.

But things get difficult when José learns that Curro had to do in the violent armed robbery where his wife died and where his father was hurt, this generates in him the desire for revenge and to find the answers to all those questions he has asked himself after what happened. There is a lot of violence at that time in the Spain that is in crisis and also shows so real the way in which their society behaves although you can not generalize and say that everything is violence but if there is a high impact on the way of life that leads the Spanish society especially at that time in which José's life changed forever.

Las decisiones que se pueden tomar a raíz de vivir un evento tan violento y traumático son devastadoras tanto para el protagonista como para los implicados, en la película José termina sintiendo algo por Ana pero luego de se entera de que su esposo esta por salir de la cárcel y que tuvo que ver en ese hecho que ha intentado en vano olvidar, se da cuenta que debe tomar la justicia por sus propias manos y acabar con la vida de las personas que no tuvieron piedad al momento de asaltar a su padre y matar de una forma muy violenta a su esposa. Tal vez si lo vemos desde afuera podemos pensar que José debería de buscar ayuda de la policía pero sabemos que cuando mucho a los delincuentes solo les dan un par de años y luego salen de la carcel y siguen con su vida como si nada hubiera pasado y eso es algo que le llena de ira.

The decisions that can be made after living such a violent and traumatic event are devastating for both the protagonist and for those involved, in the film Jose ends up feeling something for Ana but after he learns that her husband is about to get out of jail and that he had something to do with this event that he has tried in vain to forget, he realizes that he must take justice into his own hands and end the lives of the people who had no mercy when they assaulted his father and killed his wife in a very violent way. Maybe if we see it from the outside we can think that Jose should seek help from the police but we know that at most criminals only get a couple of years and then get out of jail and go on with their lives as if nothing had happened and that is something that fills him with anger.

Lo que más me gustó de la película es la manera tan simple de mostrar cómo es la vida cotidiana de una pequeña parte de la comunidad española, con su forma de hacer y decir las cosas dónde muchas veces no tienen filtro. A pesar de que la historia llama la atención por el hecho de que estás al tanto de que es lo que piensa hacer Jose en medio de su rabia y tristeza donde toma la justicia por sus propias manos, me di cuenta que la película es bastante lenta y que muchas cosas de las que suceden se ven venir fácilmente, no me genero una sensación de emoción a pesar de haber conectado con el personaje de José y su historia que fue lo que más captó mi atención durante la hora y media de la película, tal vez es porque estoy acostumbrada a ver peliculas de otro género o simplemente esta aunque tiene una historia llamativa no terminó de ser una película que me gustara del todo, pienso que en el cine español hay mejores producciones.

What I liked most about the film is the simple way of showing the daily life of a small part of the Spanish community, with their way of doing and saying things where many times they have no filter. Despite the fact that the story calls your attention by the fact that you are aware of what Jose is thinking of doing in the middle of his rage and sadness where he takes justice into his own hands, I realized that the film is quite slow and that many of the things that happen are easy to see coming, I did not feel a sense of emotion despite having connected with the character of Jose and his story that was what most captured my attention during the hour and a half of the film, maybe it's because I'm used to seeing movies of another genre or simply this one although it has a striking story did not end up being a film that I liked at all, I think that in Spanish cinema there are better productions.

Por último hay que destacar el mensaje principal que quiso dejar está historia y es el de la venganza, José pierde parte de su vida intentando hacer justicia y buscar tener paz en medio de la tragedia que vivió pero el que busca venganza termina también recibiendo la peor parte de esta, José se pierde entre la ira y el odio hacia Curro y no encuentra la paz hasta haber buscado a los integrantes de la banda de delincuentes que marcaron su vida. José de alguna forma hace justicia por sus propias manos mientras que se pierde entre todas las emociones que siente al poder cerrar ese capítulo de su vida o al menos intentar cerrarlo. El final fue un poco flojo y me dejó con la idea de que tal vez la mejor venganza hubiera sido hacer sufrir de otra manera a los delincuentes y no solo matarlos, siento que esta clase de personas no tienen escrúpulos y que aunque la vida los trate de la peor manera, van a continuar siendo la misma peste mientras que destruyen vidas a su paso.

Finally we must highlight the main message that this story wanted to leave and is the revenge, Jose loses part of his life trying to do justice and seek peace in the midst of the tragedy he lived but the one who seeks revenge also ends up receiving the worst part of it, Jose is lost between anger and hatred towards Curro and does not find peace until he has sought the members of the gang of criminals who marked his life. Jose somehow takes justice into his own hands as he loses himself in all the emotions he feels about closing that chapter of his life or at least trying to close it. The ending was a bit weak and left me with the idea that perhaps the best revenge would have been to make the criminals suffer in another way and not just kill them, I feel that this kind of people have no scruples and that even if life treats them in the worst way, they will continue to be the same pest while destroying lives in their path.

Está película no fue la mejor del cine español pero aún así no descarto que tuvo buenos momentos y una buena actuación sobre todo por parte del protagonista, además de que me gustó que entrelazaron la historia de un romance fugaz entre Ana y José pero que luego se convirtió en cenizas al momento de revelarse la verdad. Espero puedan ver está película y contarme que les pareció, la pueden encontrar en Magistv, PrimeVideo, Apple Tv y en cualquier plataforma de películas online en español y con subtitulos.

This movie was not the best of Spanish cinema but still I do not rule out that it had good moments and a good performance especially by the protagonist, plus I liked that they intertwined the story of a fleeting romance between Ana and Jose but then turned into ashes when the truth was revealed.
