Today I had the memory of a movie I saw many years ago and which I remember very fondly, it made me laugh a lot and I watched it many times because it is one of those movies that you can enjoy at all times, but while remembering that, I thought it had been a few years since I did not see it, so I was encouraged to do it today and find out if it is still as good now with the age I have, so today I want to talk to you about "Bruce Almighty".

Bruce Almighty is a movie released in 2003 (two decades ago, amazing how time passes) and starring Jim Carrey, I think it was the first movie I saw and made me love the actor, so much to see me many of his movies. The story that is presented in this movie, at first glance may be linear, a man complains about God and therefore God leaves him in charge to see if this man can do everything God does without problems, but really the story has many interesting things that sometimes escape our sight and is something we will talk about later.

Let's start by meeting our protagonist Bruce Nolan, a reporter who is covering the news of a bakery trying to break the record for the largest cookie in the state, once they achieve it, the report ends. Bruce while watching the finished report with his girlfriend, considers that this news is very bad and will not help him to achieve his dream of becoming an anchor, but they only let him cover simple news and which he considers that they make him look like a fool.

A new day begins and since the morning Bruce begins to have a series of events that could be considered bad luck, his team loses a game, his dog pees on a couch (Scene that makes me laugh a lot when he takes him out of the apartment to the street while the dog pees all the way and just when he gets to the street the dog stops peeing) he gets stuck in traffic, so he is late for an important meeting, his jacket gets caught when he closes the door of his car, his report is not chosen but that of his co-worker Evan, whom he hates, however Bruce's boss allows him to cover an annual news that is live, which is his opportunity to shine, seconds before the transmission begins, Bruce learns that they gave the anchor position to Evan, so already live, Bruce is frozen for several seconds and when he finally speaks, he is so hurt that ruins everything and attacks the channel, clearly he is fired.

While heading to his car, he tries to do a good deed to help a homeless man who was being bothered by a gang, they see him and leave, But Bruce speaks up, they come back and beat him up, scratch his car and break his windshield, I remind you that all these happen on the same day, this is how unlucky Bruce is and he gets angry when his girlfriend says "Thank God you are ok" because Bruce considers that God has never helped him in anything and that he ignores him, Bruce gets angry and drives off in his car, he asks God for a miracle and a sign, Bruce has an accident and this gives him more reason to get angry with God and yell that he doesn't know how to do his job, he wants him to answer him, so someone tries to reach him through the pager, but Bruce doesn't contact him because he doesn't know him, but the next day they try to reach him again and this time he calls the number shown on the pager, they give him an address and he attends.

Once he arrives at the site he meets the janitor who is none other than God, played by the incredible Morgan Freeman, who wants to give him the job of being God, clearly Bruce doesn't believe anything he tells him, but once Bruce leaves, he already possesses all of God's powers, which drives him a little crazy at first, until he accepts it and God explains the rules he must follow for the job. Will Bruce really be able to do God's job right or will he use his new powers to fix his life? The rest of the film's development is a constant learning curve of everything that happens.

I want to start my opinion by saying that just like when I saw this movie for the first time, I loved it, I feel that over the years the movie has aged very well, it is still very enjoyable, with a pretty silly sense of humor, but I consider that to be one of the strengths of the movies where Jim Carrey participates. Talking about the story in depth I love it, because beyond the religious theme, it is about humanity itself, how we behave in our surroundings, how we overlook many things and in many occasions we are focused on ourselves that prevents us from really seeing things and how our decisions affect others.

It is curious to see the special effects of that time, since 20 years have passed since its release, but I still find it quite enjoyable, it is somewhat subtle the small flaws but if you are not aware of those details, the whole film is very well executed, the performances, the countless moments of humor, the teachings and even the final message of the film certainly seems to me a perfectly balanced set, although what undoubtedly makes the film the success it was, is Jim Carrey performance, that sense of humor and the way of acting so characteristic that belongs to him is what has made many of his films so enjoyable and of course this would not be the exception.

Bruce Almighty is one of the movies that is in my top of comedy, it is true that the sense of humor over the years has evolved and nowadays not many jokes are made and I think that's one of the factors why I like to enjoy old movies, because they keep that essence that caught me from the beginning and made me enjoy so many movies, making many unforgettable moments.

The movie really speaks to us from a more human point of view, how the simplest things are a miracle, the fact of breathing is already something to be thankful for and so an endless number of nice messages that I would like those who have not seen the movie to discover, so I really recommend it to watch it in any environment, either family (although I must say that there are certain jokes for adults), with your partner or even being alone, if you want to have fun and distract yourself for an hour, Bruce Almighty is the right movie to do it.

Hoy tuve el recuerdo de una película que vi hace muchos años y la cual recuerdo con mucho cariño, me hizo reír bastante y miré en muchas ocasiones porque es una de esas películas que puedes disfrutar en todo momento, pero mientras recordaba eso, pensé que habían pasado algunos años desde que no la veía, por lo que me animé a hacerlo hoy y descubrir si sigue siendo igual de buena ahora con la edad que tengo, por lo que el día de hoy quiero hablarles de “Todopoderoso”.

Todopoderoso es una película estrenada en el año 2003 (Hace ya dos décadas, increíble el cómo pasa el tiempo) y protagonizada por Jim Carrey, creo que fue la primera película que vi e hizo que me encantara el actor, tanto para verme muchas de sus películas. La historia que se nos presenta en esta película, a primera vista puede ser lineal, un hombre se queja de Dios y por ende Dios lo deja a cargo para ver si este hombre puede hacer todo lo que Dios hace sin problemas, pero realmente la historia tiene muchas cosas interesantes que en algunas ocasiones se nos escapan de la vista y es algo de lo que hablaremos más adelante.

Comencemos conociendo a nuestro protagonista Bruce Nolan, un reportero que se encuentra cubriendo la noticia de una panadería que intenta romper el récord de la galleta más grande del estado, una vez lo logran, finaliza el reportaje. Bruce mientras ve el reportaje finalizado con su novia, considera que esa noticia es muy mala y no lo ayudará a conseguir su sueño de convertirse en presentador, pero sólo dejan que cubra noticias sencillas y las cuales considera que lo hacen quedar como un tonto.

Un nuevo día comienza y desde la mañana a Bruce empiezan a ocurrirle una serie de sucesos que podrían ser considerados como mala suerte, su equipo pierde un partido, su perro se orina en un sillón (Escena que me hace reír mucho cuando lo saca del departamento a la calle mientras el perro orina todo el trayecto y justo al momento de llegar a la calle el perro deja de orinar) se queda atrapado en el tránsito, por lo que llega tarde a una reunión importante, su chaqueta queda atrapada al cerrar la puerta de su auto, su reportaje no es elegido sino el de su compañero de trabajo Evan, al cual detesta, sin embargo el Jefe de Bruce le permite cubrir una noticia anual que es en vivo, la cual es su oportunidad para brillar, segundos antes de que empiece la transmisión, Bruce se entera que le dieron el puesto de presentador a Evan, por lo que ya en vivo, Bruce se queda congelado por unos varios segundos y cuando por fin habla, está tan herido que arruina todo y ataca al canal, claramente le despiden.

Mientras se dirige a su auto, intenta hacer una buena acción de ayudar a un vagabundo al cual una pandilla estaba molestando, estos al verle se van, Pero Bruce habla, estos regresan y lo golpean, rayan su auto y rompen su parabrisas, les recuerdo que todos estos suceden el mismo día, así de mala suerte tiene Bruce y se enoja cuando su novia dice “Gracias a Dios estás bien” porque Bruce considera que Dios nunca le ha ayudado en nada y que le ignora, Bruce enojado se va en su auto, le pide un milagro a Dios y una señal, Bruce tiene un accidente y esto le da más razones para enojarse con Dios y gritar que no sabe hacer su trabajo, que quiere que le responda, así alguien intenta localizarlo a través del localizador, pero Bruce no lo contacta porque no le conoce, pero al día siguiente intentan localizarle de nuevo y esta vez llama al número mostrado en el beeper, le dan una dirección y asiste.

Una vez llega al sitio conoce al conserje quien es nada más y nada menos que Dios, interpretado por el increíble Morgan Freeman, quien quiere darle el trabajo de ser Dios, claramente Bruce no cree nada de lo que le dice, pero una vez Bruce se va, ya posee todos los poderes de Dios, lo cual lo enloquece un poco al principio, hasta que lo acepta y Dios le explica las reglas que debe seguir para el trabajo. ¿Realmente será capaz Bruce de hacer bien el trabajo de Dios o usará sus nuevos poderes para solucionar su vida? El resto del desarrollo de la película es un constante aprendizaje de todo lo que ocurre.

Quiero empezar mi opinión diciendo que al igual que cuando vi esta película por primera vez, me encantó, siento que con el paso de los años la película ha envejecido muy bien, sigue siendo muy disfrutable, con un sentido del humor bastante tonto, pero considero que ese es uno de los puntos fuertes de las películas donde participa Jim Carrey. Hablando de la historia a profundidad me encanta, porque más allá del tema religioso, va sobre la misma humanidad, el cómo nos comportamos en nuestro alrededor, cómo pasamos muchas cosas por alto y en muchas ocasiones estamos centrados en nosotros mismos que nos impide ver realmente las cosas y el cómo afectan nuestras decisiones a los demás.

Es curioso ver los efectos especiales de ese entonces, ya que han pasado 20 años desde su estreno, pero me sigue pareciendo bastante disfrutable, es algo sutil los pequeños desperfectos pero si no estás pendiente de esos detalles, toda la película está muy bien ejecutada, las actuaciones, los incontables momentos de humor, las enseñanzas e incluso el mensaje final de la película sin duda me parece un conjunto perfectamente equilibrado, aunque lo que sin duda hace que la película fuese el éxito que fue, es la actuación de Jim Carrey, ese sentido del humor y la manera de actuar tan característica que le pertenece es lo que ha hecho que muchas de sus películas sean tan disfrutables y por supuesto que esta no sería la excepción.

Todopoderoso es una de las películas que está en mi top de comedía, es cierto que el sentido del humor con los años ha ido evolucionando y actualmente no se hacen muchos chistes que sí se hacían y creo que ese es uno de los factores por los cuales me gusta disfrutar de películas viejas, porque mantienen aquella esencia que me atrapó desde un principio y me hizo disfrutar de tantas películas, haciendo muchos momentos inolvidables.

La película realmente nos habla desde un punto de vista más humano, el cómo las cosas más sencillas son un milagro, el hecho de respirar ya es algo para agradecer y así un sinfín de mensajes lindos que me gustaría que descubrieran aquellos que no han visto la película, por lo que realmente la recomiendo para verla en cualquier entorno, ya sea familiar (aunque debo decir que hay ciertos chistes para adultos), con tu pareja o incluso estando solo, si quieres divertirte y distraerte por una hora, Todopoderoso es la película indicada para hacerlo.
