Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny - Movie Review [ES - EN]

Desde hace mucho tiempo, la fórmula usada para el éxito de un nuevo film y el de revivir una clásica franquicia del cine, es el fanservice y la nostalgia; justamente con la franquicia de "Indiana Jones", se usó esa fórmula en el cuarto film sobre este personaje estrenado hace 15 años; la lógica hizo pensar a sus fieles fans que esa era la última vez que se vería una aventura del Dr. Jones, pero tanto Walt Disney Pictures y Lucasfilm, se les ocurrió una inesperada idea de traer de vuelta al arqueólogo más famoso del cine.

En esta quinta (y espero última) película de esta franquicia, llamada "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny", en dónde veremos cómo el Dr. Jones es ya un hombre mayor, solitario y abrumado por los cambios que ha experimentado el mundo, eso se hace cada vez más evidente su retiro como profesor de arqueología en la Universidad Hunter Collage, pero justamente en lo que es su última clase, una inesperada visita le hará conectarse con un mundo que no extrañaba, pero por su experiencia en haber vivido tantas aventuras, se le hará inevitable ayudar a una vieja amiga a recobrar un artefacto que está bajo el poder de viejos enemigos y es por eso que nuevamente Indiana Jones deberá tomar su látigo y su sombrero y hacer todo lo posible e imposible y salvar al mundo.

Por primera vez en esta franquicia, un film de Indiana Jones no es dirigido por Steven Spielberg; para este nuevo film, el rol de director lo obtuvo James Mangold, quien ha dirigido films cómo "3:10 to Yuma", "Ford v Ferrari", "The Wolverine" y "Logan"; hago referencia en específico a esos cuatro films porque son los que poseen muchas secuencias de acción y si hay algo que caracteriza las películas de Indiana Jones, las impresionantes escenas de acción. Para esta película, Mangold crea buenas escenas llenas de acción y hay otras que se aprecia la idea por lo dinámicas que son, pero a la vez el uso del CGI es tan pobre que hace imposible disfrutar esas escenas; en mi opinión se extienden mucho y pasa de caricaturescas a ridículas y no hacen justicia a un film que se estaba manejando muy bien con respecto a la historia.

El guion es escrito por Mangold, junto a Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth y David Koepp; creo que en mayor parte del film, me gustó la historia, me gustó la imagen que proyecta el personaje de Indiana para ese tiempo en la historia de los Estados Unidos; se nota que es un hombre que no hay nada que lo motive, que está solo y lleno de culpa; eso se oculta con el humor típico de esta franquicia y aprecio que haga aparición en esta película; lo otro es que se use toda características, los enemigos peligrosos y por supuesto inoportunos, su locura y también la locura de Indiana y sus aliados; mi única crítica es lo poco sutil en que la historia resuelve ciertas cosas, en dónde todo aparece o se logra porque sí, mi problema está en que se usa eso en muchas ocasiones.

For the first time in this franchise, an Indiana Jones film is not directed by Steven Spielberg; for this new film, the role of director is taken by James Mangold, who has directed films like "3:10 to Yuma", "Ford v Ferrari", "The Wolverine" and "Logan"; I refer specifically to those four films because they are the ones that have many action sequences and if there is something that characterizes the Indiana Jones films, the impressive action scenes. For this movie, Mangold creates good scenes full of action and there are others that you can appreciate the idea because of how dynamic they are, but at the same time the use of CGI is so poor that makes it impossible to enjoy those scenes; in my opinion they are too extended and go from cartoonish to ridiculous and do not do justice to a film that was being handled very well with respect to the story.

The screenplay is written by Mangold, along with Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth and David Koepp; I think for the most part of the film, I liked the story, I liked the image the character of Indiana projects for that time in American history; you can tell he is a man with nothing to motivate him, he is lonely and guilt ridden; That is hidden with the typical humor of this franchise and I appreciate that it appears in this film; the other thing is that all characteristics are used, the dangerous and of course unwelcome enemies, their madness and also the madness of Indiana and his allies; my only criticism is the lack of subtlety in which the story resolves certain things, where everything appears or is achieved just because, my problem is that it is used on many occasions.

Las actuaciones no son buenas, todos cumplen con los clichés impuestos en la franquicia, en especial Harrison Ford que solo dice las líneas de los diálogos sin mostrar ningún interés por Interpretar tan icónico personaje, él lo hizo icónico con su imagen y a pesar de que según estaba interesado en mostrar una versión de este personaje en una edad mayor, creo que Mangold con sus muchas escenas de acción quería demostrar que la edad no influye en este personaje y eso evito que hubiera una empatía por lo que sufre Indiana en esta historia, dolores peores que el de hacerse viejo. Los demás personajes cumplen con los clichés; uno de esos casos es la interpretación de Phoebe Waller-Bridge como "Helena Shaw"; una mujer fuerte, ágil, inteligente y divertida; claramente no es la damisela en peligro y es una buena adición a esta franquicia; ahora, por parte de los villanos, Mads Mikkelsen es un buen villano, me gustó su actuación como "Jürgen Voller", cumple con la obsesión, la necesidad de competir, de hacer todo lo posible para alcanzar o cumplir su misión, para mí, es junto a Waller-Bridge, los que mejor actúan.

The performances are not good, they all comply with the clichés imposed on the franchise, especially Harrison Ford who only says the lines of the dialogues without showing any interest in playing such an iconic character, he made it iconic with his image and even though he was interested in showing a version of this character in an older age, I think that Mangold with his many action scenes wanted to show that age does not influence this character and that avoided that there was an empathy for what Indiana suffers in this story, worse pains than getting old. The other characters fulfill the clichés; one of those cases is the interpretation of Phoebe Waller-Bridge as "Helena Shaw"; a strong, agile, intelligent and funny woman; she is clearly not the damsel in distress and is a good addition to this franchise; now, on the villains side, Mads Mikkelsen is a good villain, I liked his performance as "Jürgen Voller", he fulfills the obsession, the need to compete, to do everything possible to achieve or accomplish his mission, for me, he is next to Waller-Bridge, the best performers.

Este quinto film de "Indiana Jones" es regular y está en la última posición de esta franquicia, no es mejor que su predecesora la cual considero un mejor cierre para ese personaje; posiblemente esta era una película que nadie espero, pero creo que Walt Disney Pictures está convencida en que la nostalgia y el Fanservice puede con todo, puede generar una gran cantidad de dinero sin importar la calidad del producto y lamentablemente, este personaje en su última historia pasará a ser un ejemplo más en lo que parece ser evidente, me refiero al cansancio que experimenta el público de ver muchas secuelas de un mismo personaje o no ver algo nuevo y bien hecho. Mi aprecio a "Indiana Jones" es grande, este debe ser uno de los primeros héroes icónicos que puse seguir, el primer héroe sin la necesidad de usar capa o una máscara, pero si usando como fieles compañeros a su sombrero, chaqueta (en la mayoría de veces) y su látigo, no puede dejar atrás su clásico tema musical, quien acompañaba en sus aventuras, tema que siempre tarareaba al momento de hacer alguna travesura de niño, justamente ese aprecio me hizo disfrutar de este film que a pesar de no ser el mejor, me alegro nuevamente ver al arqueólogo más famoso del cine.

My appreciation for "Indiana Jones" is great, this must be one of the first iconic heroes that I put to follow, the first hero without the need to wear a cape or a mask, but using as faithful companions his hat, jacket (most of the time) and his whip, can not leave behind his classic theme song, who accompanied his adventures, theme that always hummed at the time of making some mischief as a child, just that appreciation made me enjoy this film that despite not being the best, I'm glad to see again the most famous archaeologist of cinema.
