The Equalizer 3 - Movie Review [ES - EN]

En este 2023 se ha visto qué películas del género de acción han estado bien representadas por el estreno de producciones que son parte de exitosas franquicias que tienen como particularidad que son protagonizadas por estrellas del cine; me refiero a películas como "John Wick", "Mission: Impossible" y "The Equalizer", siendo esta última la que menos expectativas me había creado, pero después de por fin ver su tercer film, primeramente diré que me ha sorprendido.

In this 2023 we have seen which films of the action genre have been well represented by the release of productions that are part of successful franchises whose particularity is that they are starred by movie stars; I am referring to films like "John Wick", "Mission: Impossible" and "The Equalizer", the latter being the one that had created the least expectations, but after finally seeing his third film, first of all I will say that I was surprised.

"The Equalizer 3", tercer y posiblemente último film de esta franquicia; nos relata una nueva manera de hacer justicia por parte de "Robert McCall" quien en esta oportunidad no se encuentra en Norteamérica, sino en Europa, en especial en la región sur de Italia en dónde parece que ha encontrado un lugar propicio para vivir en plena tranquilidad, pero la naturaleza de quién es "Roberto", lo hace estar cerca del peligro o de personas peligrosas, inescrupulosas, criminales que solo viven para crear terror en personas inocentes y es ese momento en que McCall, nuevamente de una manera despiadada y brutal, deberá impartir justicia.

"The Equalizer 3", the third and possibly last film in this franchise; tells us a new way of doing justice by "Robert McCall" who this time is not in North America, but in Europe, especially in the southern region of Italy where it seems that he has found a place to live in peace, but the nature of who is "Robert", makes him be close to danger or dangerous people, unscrupulous, criminals who only live to create terror in innocent people and that is the moment when McCall, again in a ruthless and brutal way, must impart justice.

Esta franquicia en sus tres films ha contado con la dirección de Antoine Fuqua, el cual ha realizado un buen trabajo en cada film; en esta tercera entrega veremos las típicas tomas en esta franquicia la cual nos da una completa perspectiva de un lugar, en dónde veremos una tranquilidad antes que la velocidad de la escena cambia al convertirse en buena secuencia de acción por las muy buenas coreografías, pero pudo notar que hay algo nuevo en esta película y es que Fuqua anexó suspenso en varias de las escenas, eso al crear escenas con tensión y jugar con el miedo de las víctimas del justiciero "McCall"; esto es algo que disfrute porque este director aprovecho de la arquitectura del lugar en donde se filmó está tercera parte de la franquicia.

El guion es escrito nuevamente por Richard Wenk es de lo mejor de la película, es una excelente historia sobre detenerse y poner en perspectiva que hacer en lo que te resta de vida, es un retiro aunque siempre hay una oportunidad más para demostrar lo bueno que eres en lo que haces; esa es la base del film que usa claramente elementos western para resaltar lo que es el último episodio de este justiciero; repetiré lo de que este es un western o está muy influenciado en ese estilo de filmes porque respeta mucho esa manera de relatar la historia, me refiero al tener a un extraño que llega a un nuevo lugar, un maravilloso y positivo lugar que le brinda apoyo, estabilidad y confianza de comenzar una nueva etapa, pero nada es perfecto y eso es debido a forajidos que aparecen para crear caos y solo se impone la figura de este extraño que es capaz de sembrar terror en quienes creen que tiene poder; esto es "Equalizer 3" y es magnífico.

This franchise in its three films has been directed by Antoine Fuqua, who has done a good job in each film; in this third installment we will see the typical shots in this franchise which gives us a complete perspective of a place, where we will see a tranquility before the speed of the scene changes to become good action sequence by the very good choreography, but could notice that there is something new in this film and is that Fuqua added suspense in several of the scenes, that to create scenes with tension and play with the fear of the victims of the vigilante "McCall"; This is something I enjoyed because this director took advantage of the architecture of the place where this third part of the franchise was filmed.

The script is written again by Richard Wenk is the best of the film, it is an excellent story about stopping and putting in perspective what to do in what you have left of your life, it is a retirement but there is always another opportunity to prove how good you are at what you do; that is the basis of the film that clearly uses western elements to highlight what is the last episode of this vigilante; I will repeat that this is a western or is very influenced by that style of film because it respects a lot that way of telling the story, I mean having a stranger who comes to a new place, a wonderful and positive place that gives support, stability and confidence to start a new stage, but nothing is perfect and that is due to outlaws who appear to create chaos and only the figure of this stranger who is able to sow terror in those who believe they have power is imposed; this is "Equalizer 3" and it is magnificent.

Tanto en las películas anteriores, como en esta, la personificación de "Robert McCall" por parte de Denzel Washington nos demuestra esa necesidad de ayudar y de hacer justicia por sus propias manos; este personaje tiene la habilidad de ser juez y verdugo, siendo esas características lo que posiblemente nos muestre el problema mental de este personaje y esto lo digo porque personalmente percibo que está versión de "McCall", está lidiando con cierto cansancio de impartir justicia de una manera violenta, puedo decir que hay momentos en dónde desvaría y en mi opinión es un signo de locura; a mí me gustó eso porque siempre pienso que personajes justicieros, no están bien mentalmente y en eso, Denzel Washington hace un excelente trabajo.

In the previous films, as well as in this one, the personification of "Robert McCall" by Denzel Washington shows us the need to help and to take justice into his own hands; This character has the ability to be judge and executioner, being those characteristics what possibly shows us the mental problem of this character and I say this because I personally perceive that this version of "McCall", is dealing with a certain tiredness of imparting justice in a violent way, I can say that there are moments where he raves and in my opinion is a sign of madness; I liked that because I always think that vigilante characters, are not well mentally and in that, Washington does an excellent job.

Cómo dije anteriormente, mis expectativas no eran altas y posiblemente eso ayudó a que me gustara está tercera película de la franquicia de "The Equalizer"; es un film muy diferente a las otras dos películas y eso es debido a su manera de desarrollar la historia, la cual tiene la particularidad en que pareciera que el relato no tiene un origen claro, es una historia en que su relato le falta el fragmento del comienzo, pero eso no desentona en lo que nos quiere demostrar en esta etapa de la vida de su protagonista que posiblemente, por primera vez no se siente solo, que por fin ha encajado en un lugar y que está dispuesto a tener la confianza y enseñar lo que es capaz de hacer para proteger a su nueva y gran familia; este es un film corto, con una buena narrativa, pocas, pero buenas escenas de acción, muy acordé a la actualidad del personaje y también hay que decir que es un buen y adecuado final; si no la han visto, no solo recomiendo está película sino las otras que completan está trilogía de acción.

As I said before, my expectations were not high and possibly that helped me to like this third film in "The Equalizer" franchise; it is a very different film from the other two films and that is due to its way of developing the story, which has the particularity that it seems that the story does not have a clear origin, it is a story that lacks the fragment of the beginning, but that does not detract from what it wants to show us at this stage of the life of its protagonist who possibly, for the first time does not feel alone, who has finally fit into a place and is willing to have the confidence and show what he is capable of doing to protect his new and great family; this is a short film, with a good narrative, few but good action scenes, very much in line with the actuality of the character and it must also be said that it is a good and appropriate ending; if you have not seen it, I recommend not only this film but the others that complete this action trilogy.
