Before I give my most sincere opinion about this movie, I want to say how much it has influenced my childhood and pre-adolescence. Of all the science fiction movies I've seen since then, none has fascinated me as much as this one has. While it is true that the first thing that always came to my mind when I remembered it were the incredible action scenes it has, both its story and its characters also influenced me a lot in my life. I fully admit that, personally, it was quite difficult for me to fully understand this movie when I was a kid. The only thing that caught my attention were the choreographies or battles it has and I usually didn't pay much attention to the dialogues or its story as such. It wasn't until I grew up that I understood, seeing the great impact and influence it has both in the world of cinema and in popular culture, that what this great work of art transmits is something that defies even the truthful fact of the reality in which we live. Yes, things like "the world is a simulation" or "we are in the Matrix" are some of the many phrases that have since become more and more viral among communities in forums and social networks. Now, giving a new opportunity to this masterpiece of contemporary cinema, I reaffirm everything previously said by enjoying what is really an audiovisual spectacle in its entirety.

Antes de dar mi más sincera opinión acerca de esta película, quiero decir lo mucho que ha influenciado en mi infancia y preadolescencia. De entre tantas películas de ciencia ficción que veía desde entonces, ninguna me ha fascinado tanto como lo ha logrado esta. Si bien es cierto que lo primero que siempre me llegaba a la cabeza cuando la recordaba eran las increíbles escenas de acción que tiene, tanto su historia como sus personajes influenciaron mucho también en mi vida. Admito completamente que, personalmente, me fue bastante difícil comprender del todo esta película cuando pequeño. Lo único que me llamaba la atención eran las coreografías o batallas que tiene y normalmente no me fijaba mucho en los diálogos o en su historia como tal. No fue sino hasta después de grande que comprendí, viendo el gran impacto e influencia que tiene tanto en el mundo del cine como en la cultura popular, que lo que llegó a transmitir esta grandiosa obra es algo que desafía incluso el hecho verídico de la realidad en la que vivimos. Si, cosas como “el mundo es una simulación” o “estamos en la Matrix” son varias de muchas frases que desde entonces se han vuelto más y más virales entre comunidades en foros y redes sociales. Ahora, dándole una nueva oportunidad a esta obra maestra del cine contemporáneo, reafirmo todo lo anteriormente dicho al disfrutar de lo que realmente es un espectáculo audiovisual en su totalidad.

Starting with the story told in this film, we see that it revolves around the life of Thomas Anderson (aka Neo), who for some time now has been asking himself something that has him completely uneasy: What is the Matrix? He feels that his world, his reality and everything he is living is wrong, that it seems nothing more than a dream. This is how a group of anonymous people who have been watching him contact him by various means. Assuming that most reading this post know the movie or have seen it at least once in their lives, they know how complex the message it conveys can be with this very authentic story of a world that is really just a computer simulation. But before I go a bit deeper into this, I would like to mention the very special blend this particular film has with post-apocalyptic futures, machines and virtual worlds (these three elements being the ones we will be dealing with from now on in subsequent films). As a huge fan of all things sci-fi, it is a wonder to note how excellently made this film is in terms of visuals, storytelling and acting. Already with the main theme of a reality made by machines is more than enough to make anyone think. This way of playing with the viewer's mind by giving us a story in which everything we see, hear and feel is just a compilation of data sent by a computer to our brain and then converted into neural signals that simulate an alterable reality is complete madness. And it is even more shocking how possible this idea can be with the technological advances we have and the amount of signals we get on the internet such as the famous "Matrix glitches".

Empezando por la historia que nos cuenta esta película, vemos que gira en torno a la vida de Thomas Anderson (alias Neo), quien desde hace tiempo ya anda preguntándose algo que lo tiene completamente intranquilo: ¿Qué es Matrix? Como gran fan que soy de todo lo relacionado a la ciencia ficción, es una maravilla notar lo excelentemente hecha que está dicha película en cuanto se refiere a lo visual, narrativo e interpretativo. With the creation of this novel technology (well, not so novel since it has been around for decades), came a new era in which machines evolved to the point where they became more autonomous and self-sufficient. However, their intelligence and power turned them into a threat to humanity, thus generating a war between machines and humans that culminated in a future where the sun does not rise and the machines managed to control humans using the Matrix as their "perfect world". Beyond being a simple disbeliever with all this, I believe that AI can become both a great tool and a very lethal weapon for our own species. We are the only living beings that can harm ourselves even for pleasure. Human cruelty is something that can become detectable and transferable, like a deadly virus or a computer virus.

Al crear esta novedosa tecnología (bueno, ni tan novedosa ya que lleva varias décadas de que fue creada), llegó una nueva era en la que las máquinas evolucionaron hasta tal punto en el cual lograron ser más autónomas y autosuficientes.
