It's been a while since I've been around, and I'm really debating writing and taking an extended break. Things are going very well, although it is certainly time to think a bit about what is favorable for me. Intriguing? Well, this thought is related to the plot of this production just released on Netflix.

The Meteor plot is somewhat threadbare, not at all favorable or appealing at the present time. Lacking in many ways, it is not very seductive, in my opinion. However, the impact of this serie does not materialize in the scenes. Rather, it focuses on the chaos that occurs due to the broadcast of the news that the world is about to end and won't be as everyone knows it.

News of such relevance would inevitably destabilize the global economy, bring chaos, create ungovernability and unleash the progressive destruction of human values. In other words, people do not act out of reason; they act out of survival instinct.

Ha pasado un tiempo desde que estoy por acá, realmente me debato en escribir y tomar un descanso prolongado. Las cosas van muy bien, aunque de manera certera es hora de pensar un poco en lo que es favorable para mí. ¿Intrigante? Pues éste pensamiento se encuentra relacionado con la trama de ésta producción recién estrenada en Netflix.

El argumento de los meteoritos es algo desgastado, nada favorable y atractivo en la actualidad. Carente en muchos sentidos, poco seductor a mi modo de ver. Sin embargo, ésta serie no materializa en las escenas el impacto. Más bien, se enfoca en el caos que ocurre por la emisión de la noticia que el mundo está a punto de acabar y no será como todo el mundo lo conoce.

Una noticia de tal relevancia inevitablemente desestabilizaría la economía global, propiciaría el caos, crearía ingobernabilidad y desataría la destrucción progresiva de los valores humanos. En otras palabras, las personas no actúan razonadamente; sino por instinto de supervivencia.

A reality that implodes and highlights what we human beings are in contexts of extreme uncertainty. I say this from my own experience: Venezuela has experienced a national blackout and food and medicine shortages. The only thoughts of a human being in that situation are to survive. Very different from living. Basic things like peace, fun, and food, and become a luxury in scenarios of chaos or destruction.

Technically, every scene in this production shows each of those scenes. It highlights the fact that state security forces are unable to control crime. Murder has become something natural every day. Migratory entry bans are also part of the story. No one can escape from the place that gave them life, and they must assume that they will die when the meteorite hits the earth.

Una realidad que implosiona y destaca lo que somos los seres humanos en contextos de incertidumbre extrema. Lo digo por experiencia propia, Venezuela ha experimentado un apagón nacional, escasez de alimentos y medicinas. Los únicos pensamientos de un ser humano bajo esa situación, es sobrevivir. Muy diferente de vivir. Las cosas básicas como la paz, la diversión, y la comida, y vuelven un lujo en escenarios de caos o destrucción.

Técnicamente, cada escena de ésta producción muestra cada una de esas escenas. Destaca el hecho donde las fuerzas de seguridad del Estado no pueden controlar el crimen. El asesinato se vuelve algo natural y cotidiano. Las prohibiciones de entrada migratoria también son partes del relato. Nadie puede escapar del lugar que le dio la vida, y en donde deben asumir que morirán cuando el meteorito impacte la tierra.

In the middle of this case is the protagonist of the story, a young teacher who has the desire to save her students, but is simply shocked by reality. Life in that circumstantial moment is worthless. No one will seek justice, no one will care about the terrorist attack, and the smuggling of minors will gradually be put aside. Even if the meteorite impacts arrive, paradoxically, the only thing left is to play soccer.

A sociological scheme that defines individual patterns thoroughly. The message is deafening and tells you how incoherent we human beings are. We have the capacity to create, talk and negotiate, but we always assume confrontation as an irrevocable guideline. That's how we see life; that's how it happens in reality.

En medio de éste casos se encuentra la protagonista de la historia, una joven profesora que posee el deseo de salvar sus estudiantes, pero simplemente es impactada por la realidad. La vida en ése momento circunstancial no vale nada. Nadie buscará hacer justicia, a nadie le importará el atentado terrorista y el contrabando de menores será dejado poco a poco a un lado. Igual el impacto del meteorito llegará, lo único que paradójicamente queda es jugar futbol.

Un esquema sociológico que define los patrones individuales cabalmente. El mensaje ensordece y te dice lo poco coherentes que somos los seres humanos. Tenemos la capacidad de crear, hablar y negociar, pero siempre asumimos la confrontación como una directriz irrevocable. Así vemos la vida, así ocurre en la realidad.

It is very similar to tightening a rope and making it burst, cutting everything in its path; that is, causing a wound that cannot be easily healed.

The plot of this newly added Netflix production lasts more than 40 to 65 minutes per episode. In addition, it mixes drama, survival and compulsive killing to send a thoughtful message. Although perhaps not a series for everyone, if you want to watch it, you should be prepared to endure its inaccuracy in some aspects. Good or bad? Neither one nor the other. I just value the message.

Sigo con el mensaje ensordecedor, la vida no importa cuando todos saben que va a acabar. Por eso se genera el caos. Nadie está exento de ser sacrificado. Una paradoja. ¿Irreal? Muy preciso, el tema focal es tratar de drenar la frustración, el pánico y el miedo. Nadie puede suprimir su instinto. La gente, por más que mienta, simplemente desea vivir, no morir.

Corea del Sur es un caos, nadie puede salir fácilmente de la península y el destacado desbaratamiento de las instituciones propicia un mal inevitable. Lo más deplorable es que no se puede confiar en nadie.

El plano visual de la serie de 12 episodios desprende patrones de todos los sectores sociales, pero se enfoca en lo que efectúa la protagonista de la historia. Es una serie sencilla, que tiene un mensaje sociológico fuerte, marcado y analítico. Te hace preguntar: ¿Qué harías tú en éste tipo de situación?

La fotografía es apreciable, no es una serie totalmente impactante, pero posee su propio valor: dar un mensaje diferente con un concepto central desgastado. Es muy similar a tensar una cuerda y hacer que ésta reviente cortando todo a su paso; es decir, causando una herida que no se puede sanar fácilmente.

La trama de ésta producción recién añadida en Netflix dura más entre 40 a 65 minutos por episodio. Además, mezcla el drama, la supervivencia y el asesinato compulsivamente para enviar un mensaje reflexivo. Quizás no es una serie para todo el mundo, si deseas verla debes estar preparado para soportar su imprecisión en algunos aspectos. ¿Buena o mala? Ni uno, ni lo otro. Sólo valoro el mensaje.
