My Favorite Series of 2024: The Brothers Sun (Should you Watch or Not?)

2024 was a good year for movies/TV series. There were so many good releases and something for about everyone. I'm not sure what year to compare 2024 to, but I'm sure that not every year delivered this well when it comes to movies.

Yet picking my favorite series of the year was very easy, infact it was too easy, and that's supposed to be surprising because there were so many good stuff.

But the thing is movies like The Brothers Sun would always touch a very special part of my heart, simply because of the type of movie it is. In fact, all a movie maker has to do to get my die-hard support is make a movie like that and make it good.

The type of movie it is, for those who have not watched it, is a movie about the Chinese organized crime world featuring a lot of action and humor. It wasn't also entirely set in China, but in USA too. In fact most of the movie (at least 70%) happened in the US.

Nothing gets me like a good blend of action and humor. Infact my favorite movie of all time is the Rush Hour Trilogy. All three of them 😅. And you know why now.

If you've watched Rush Hour and The Brothers Sun you would see a certain type of similarity that you'd bet is what is getting to me.

I grew up watching a lot of Chinese kung fu movies and absolutely fell in love with them. Now no other type of entertainment can hit me as hard as a movie with some Chinese kung fu, properly choreographed fights, great storyline without plot holes, and some good comedy in the mix.

Love it!

That is what The Brothers Sun provides.

With Chinese kung fu movies these days it's kinda difficult to find a well made one. In fact I think many of the ones we watched growing up were not well made but we were too underdeveloped to tell.

It's very common for fights to not be properly choreographed, or the stories to have some flaws. But this one wasn't one of those. It was modern, the story was kickass, and the choreography was perfect.

You'd love it too if you like great fight scenes, strong Chinese flavor, Chinese gangster movies, and good comedy mixing with action.

But I have to give you this Warning, the series was canceled by Netflix!

Online it said it's because it didn't get enough views. That broke my heart, but I've gotten over it that's why I can talk about it so calmly.

So the warning is for you, you might get attached and have to live with the pain that this movie is probably never coming back for a second season.

Guard your heart if it is too fragile 🤣🤣.

Or maybe you can join me and we'll find other fans to petition Netflix to bring it back or something. I'm sure that can be done if we can find a lot of other people who like what we like.
