Sleep Call, Women and her discrimination

The film Sleep Call will air on September 7 2023 in all cinemas in Indonesia. The film succeeds in telling the story of the layered violence experienced by a woman, namely Dina, played by Laura Basuki. Sleep Call combines important learning elements into attention. Starting from the dangers of online loans, and the prolonged trauma experienced by victims of sexual violence. In this story, Dina also experienced past trauma due to the domestic violence experienced by her mother.

This film tells the story of a former flight attendant named Dina, played by Laura Basuki. Dina had to stop being a flight attendant because she had to support her sick mother. Dina also had to stop being a flight attendant and work at an illegal online loan. Dina was also determined to borrow a large amount of money from the loan company. In this film, Dina is told that she has relationships with three people. Namely, Tommy, Bayu, and Rama.

The relationship between these three people is considered quite complicated. Tommy and Bayu are Dina's superiors. Meanwhile, Rama was known to Dina through social media. At the end of the story, Dina turns out to be experiencing mental disorders due to unresolved trauma. Dina experiences memory loss in certain incidents. Due to the length of the loan and the high-interest rate, Dina had to pay it by having sex with an online loan owner named Tommy to pay off her debts.

Dina knows that Tommy can't be her partner. Tommy already has a wife and children who are far from him. Dina became increasingly anxious about her life. Dina tries to use an online dating application. Dina regularly interacts via video calls with Rama. Every day, Dina makes a telephone call with Rama before going to bed. At first, Dina and Rama only exchanged ordinary stories.

Gradually, the relationship between the two became more intense. Dina started to become dependent on Rama and started to worry about many things. On the other hand, Dina's office friend, Bayu, approached her. An uncomfortable feeling emerged within Dina. Dina is increasingly hesitant about continuing her relationship with Rama. Because Dina only knows Rama through cyberspace. During her relationship with Rama, Dina regained her enthusiasm for life. Several problems faced by Dina were successfully overcome.

Rama also becomes Dina's savior from her natural feeling of loneliness. However, amidst the problems she was facing, Dina decided to stop communicating with Rama. Dina is in a relationship with Bayu. In this story, Dina receives unpleasant treatment from Bayu. Bayu, who knew about Dina's relationship with Tommy, instead attacked Dina by shouting and cornering Dina. Dina's office friends also knew about Dina's relationship with Tommy.

Dina and Bayu's relationship continues. While drunk, Dina was raped by Bayu. Bayu started blaming Dina for the incident. After the incident, Bayu posted Dina's back on social media without Dina's permission. Dina felt confused and helpless. Bayu and Dina's relationship has improved again. In the film, Dina gets harassed by Bayu when she goes to dinner.

Bayu looked at Dina's body and said that Dina was very sexy. Dina wore closed clothes. After dinner, after being at the rented house, Dina received news that Bayu had had an accident. Dina still thinks that the accident that Bayu experienced was the result of Rama's actions. Because Dina stayed away from Rama. However, at the same time, Dina felt that she was losing her memory at dinner with Bayu until an accident occurred.

On the other hand, Dina's boss, Tommy, asks Dina to face Badan again. Dina did not refuse, because this was related to the debt Dina had in the company. Finally, Dina followed Tommy's wishes. Again, Dina lost her memory after being with Tommy. In the morning, Dina found that Tommy was not there. It was reported that Tommy had died. Dina still thinks that Rama killed Tommy. Dina thought about looking for and meeting Rama wherever he was.

Long story short, Dina knows where Rama is. However, Dina found Rama with his wife. Dina was quite disappointed with this. Dina has quite deep feelings for Rama, but Rama does not have the same feelings for Dina. At the end of the story, it is told that Rama was killed by Dina. Likewise, Tommy was killed by Dina. Bayu was also hit hard by Dina in the car.

The film also tells about several past traumas experienced by Dina as a child, especially when Dina's mother experienced domestic violence from her father. Dina was rehabbed, and at the end of the story, Dina returned to wearing her flight attendant clothes. While Dina's head was rubbed by her mother.
