The avocado war 🥑 | Be ready to hear the truth!

Hi friends, today I want to share my impression after watching a series on Netflix called "Spoiled". I think that many people have heard about this series, which reveals the brutal truth about the things we are used to. Like honey, wine, garlic, fish, avocado. And just on the last one I want to focus. I watched an episode called "The Avocado War" and I'm in a rush to tell you my thoughts.

For 56 minutes in a row, I couldn't believe what I was hearing and seeing in front of me on my laptop screen. After all, such a green and beneficial fruit cannot bring such a disaster to thousands of people. But I was wrong...

A real war has broken out in Mexico, which supplies most of the United States with this popular superfood. If earlier on the lands of this country the struggle for survival was over drugs and weapons, now, the main reason is - avocados.

And despite the fact that the avocado tree is finicky to weather conditions and humidity, many farmers are seriously engaged in the cultivation of this fruit and some of them faced criminal figures. After all, as practice has shown, this fruit has gained huge popularity all over the world and people pay money for it. If statistics are to be believed, the consumption of avocados has increased hundreds of times in the last 20 years. This is what the local mafia takes advantage of.

They organize raids, take away plantations from farmers, and if those resist, the bandits threaten to kill them. There have even been cases of kidnapping of relatives from farmers' families....

Unfortunately, this is the terrible truth. And now, every time I come to the store and choose a ripe green avocado fruit, I wonder "Where exactly did this fruit come from?".

Anyway, one should always be aware of things that are happening in the world. We, ordinary people, have no power to influence or change a thing. Especially when these events are so far away on another continent. I have also watched other episodes where they talk about how the things are going on with wine, honey, garlic, and many other very common foods that we all use on a daily basis! It's scary to hear and see, but it's something we need to be aware of. The scariest weapon to oppose any system is people's knowledge. Take care of you and your loved ones. See you soon, friends!
