The film initially narrates the life of the young American Megan Leavey, who lives in a dysfunctional family, where she feels that no one is interested in her, besides that, she is very affected by the death of a friend, which makes her fall into a depressive state, in which she does not find meaning in life.
In addition to this, Megan had a job that she did not like and from which she was fired. With all this, the beginning of the film shows us a young woman with serious personal problems, who falls into an existential void, where she does not know what sense to give to her life.

In this process, Megan goes through a recruitment center of the U.S. Marine Corps and decides to try her luck there. This process gave a positive change to Megan's life, since she had to face situations she did not know, such as responsibility, discipline, companionship and authority.

Although the process of Marine school was somewhat tough for her, due to the fact that she had to prove herself and overcome her limitations, she came out on top and graduated. However, she made a mistake after a party and was spotted, which resulted in her receiving a punishment typical of the military.

Megan's punishment after the reprimand was to clean the cells or cages where the dogs were being trained for combat and in addition to that, serve as bait with protective suits for the dogs' attack training. However, she ended up getting attached to the job and requested to be a dog handler from her superior.

Megan, after meeting the requirements of her superiors, was given a dog named Rex, which she was to train. Both she and the dog formed a strong bond that allowed them to do a good job together. And after a few months of training, they were both sent to the front lines in Iraq.

There on the front lines, they did several missions and on one of them, both Megan and Rex the dog were wounded and both were sent home to recover. After all that had happened, Megan decides to take a leave of absence from the Marine Corps and asks to adopt Re, her superiors say yes, but that he must first be approved by the vets. Rex, however, does not pass the exam because he is too aggressive.

So the Marine Corps decides to send Rex back to the front lines, while Megan returns to civilian life, facing a series of personal problems and depression due to being away from her dog. After her father's advice, Megan took up a fight against bureaucracy, collecting signatures, talking to politicians and going on TV in order to rescue and be close to Rex, which she succeeded in the end.

What I liked most about the film, is how the relationship that exists between a dog and a human, can be so meaningful, that it helps the person to get out of their personal problems and gives them emotional stability.

However, we also see how that same relationship of stability is reflected in the dog, which implies that there is a really strong, and I would even say spiritual element in that relationship, since it becomes really deep.

The truth is that in the case of Megan Leavey, a dog that she trained, that was with her in situations of maximum stress and real combat, became for her the center that gave stability to her life and vice versa, since both were able to go through their traumas and sufferings, united and doing a work of company and mutual support.

Another thing that can be seen in the film is the emotional affectation and trauma that remains in the animals due to the actions that we humans carry out in our lives, and how with love and companionship, these poor animals, just like humans, manage to get out of such painful situations.

I think it is a film that should be seen with a broad vision, as it shows true processes of personal overcoming in the life of a human being and in the life of an animal. It is a film that basically teaches a lot and if we look beyond what the film shows on the screen, a world of experiences and possibilities opens up to us, and maybe even familiar stories that we did not have the capacity to understand before.

That is why the film about the life of Megan Leavey and her dog Rex, was the one I chose for this initiative.

Tenía varias semanas que no escribía en la comunidad, pero al ver la propuesta de este concurso no pude dejar de participar, más cuando me recode de la película basada en hechos reales que hoy traigo para compartir, que es la de un perro llamado Rex y su dueña Megan Leavey.

La película en un principio narra la vida de la joven estadounidense Megan Leavey, quien vive en una familia disfuncional, donde ella siente que no le interesa a nadie, además de eso, ella se ve muy afectada por la muerte de un amigo, lo que la hace caer en un estado depresivo, en el cual no le encuentra sentido a la vida.

A esto hay que sumarle, que Megan, tenía un trabajo que no le gustaba y del cual fue despedida. Con todo esto, el inicio de la película nos muestra a una joven con graves problemas personales, que cae en un vacío existencial, donde no sabe qué sentido darle a su vida.

En ese proceso, Megan, pasa por un centro de reclutamiento de la Infantería de Marina EEUU y decide probar suerte ahí. Ese proceso le dio un cambio positivo a la vida de Megan, ya que tuvo que enfrentarse con situaciones que no conocía, como las de responsabilidad, disciplina, compañerismo y autoridad.

Aunque el proceso de la escuela de marines fue algo fuerte para ella, por el hecho de que tuvo que probarse a sí misma y superar sus limitaciones, salió airosa y se graduó. Sin embargo, ella después de una fiesta cometió en error y fue vista, lo que le hizo recibir un castigo típico de las fuerzas militares.

El castigo de Megan después del regaño, fue el de limpiar las celdas o jaulas donde estaban los perros que se estaban entrenando para el combate y además de eso, servir de carnada con trajes protectores para el entrenamiento del ataque de los perros. Sin embargo, ella terminó encariñándose con el trabajo y solicitó ser una guía de perros a su superior.

A Megan después de cumplir con los requisitos exigidos por sus superiores, le dan un perro llamado Rex, el cual ella debía entrenar. Tanto ella como el perro, fueron creando un fuerte vínculo que les permitió hacer un buen trabajo en conjunto. Y después de unos meses de entrenamiento, ambos enviado al frente de batalla en Irak.

Hay en el frente de batalla, hicieron varias misiones y en una de ellas, ambos tanto Megan como Rex el perro, quedaron heridos y ambos fueron enviados a casa para su recuperación. Después de todos lo que había pasado, Megan decide meter la baja del Cuerpo de Marines y pide adoptar a Re, sus superiores dicen que sí, pero que primero debe ser aprobado por los veterinarios. Sin embargo, Rex, no aprueba el examen por exceso de agresividad.

Así que el Cuerpo de Marines, decide enviar a Rex de nuevo al frente de batalla, mientras que Megan vuelve la vida civil, enfrentando una serie de problemas personales y pasando por una depresión por estar lejos del perro. Después de los consejos de su padre, Megan emprendió una lucha contra la burocracia, recogiendo firmas, hablando con políticos y saliendo en televisión para poder rescatar y estar cerca de Rex, lo que logró al final.

Lo que más me gustó de la película, es como la relación existente entre un perro y un humano, puede ser tan significativa, que ayude a la persona a salir de sus problemas personales y le dé estabilidad emocional.

Sin embargo, también se ve como esa misma relación de estabilidad se refleja en el perro, lo que implica que hay un elemento, realmente fuerte, y yo diría hasta espiritual en esa relación, ya que la misma llega a ser realmente profunda.

Lo cierto, es que en el caso de Megan Leavey, un perro que ella entrenó, que estuvo con ella situaciones de estrés máximo y combate real, se convirtió para ella en el centro que le daba estabilidad a su vida y viceversa, puesto que ambos pudieron pasar sus traumas y padecimientos, unidos y haciendo un trabajo de compañía y de soporte mutuo.

Otra de las cosas que se deja ver en la película, es la afectación emocional y el trauma que queda en los animales por las acciones que nosotros los seres humanos realizamos en nuestra vida, y como con el amor y la compañía, esos pobres animalitos al igual que los humanos logran salir de esas situaciones tan dolorosas.

Creo es una película que se debe ver con una visión amplia, ya que muestra verdaderos procesos de superación personal en la vida de un ser humano y en la vida de un animal. Es una panícula que en el fondo enseña mucho y si vemos más allá de lo que muestra la película en la pantalla, se nos abre un mundo de experiencias y posibilidades y a lo mejor de historias conocidas, que antes no tuvimos la capacidad de entender.

Por eso la película sobre la vida de Megan Leavey y su perro Rex, fue la que escogí para esta iniciativa.
